Review: Without fail, Futureboogie Recordings' annual "Summer Riot" EPs are always amongst the Bristol-based imprint's finest releases of the year. This year's edition - the eight in total - is no different. It's five floor-friendly cuts include a locked-in chunk of late night techno hypnotism by A Sagittarian (undulating opener "Machine Elf"), a raw and wonky, mind-altering analogue house jam full of Yellow Magic Orchestra style computer bleeps (Red Flower Union's "Natural Self") and a piano-sporting chunk of old school house revivalism from Statue ("Ivory"). Manchester producer Neil Diablo hits the spot with the starburst Italo-disco chug of "Colorado", while Kincaid gleefully dances through New York freestyle and Bobby Orlando style hi-NRG on EP standout "Bulfas".

Review: A truly international affair here, as Amsterdam's Bordello A Parigi label bring us an EP featuring cuts from UK producers Ali Renault and Senor Chugger and Hungary's CT Kidobo, as well as the mysterious Back From The Wave & Umatik. Electronic disco with a strong 80s influence is the border-defying, unifying factor, with 'Galactic' providing a lively, pulsating opener, 'Smell The Ashes' bringing the sci-fi flavour, 'Endless Crossing' having hints of prog and 'Racing Thoughts' diving into the Kraftwerk playbook for inspiration. Stylistically coherent but with enough variety not to get boring, this is well worth checking.

Review: ChopShop Digital barely deviates from its' well-worn formula, which involves serving up multi-artist EPs full of tried-and-tested reworks. Happily, they're at it again here. BnC kicks things off with the break-driven funk shuffle of "Good Times Roll", before Woodhead & Hebegebe raise the temperature with the heavy funk-goes-Italo-disco surge of "Pony Up". West Country scalpel fiends Situation serve up the dusty soul sweetness of "Change For A Coke", while Senior Citizens attempt to outdo them with the similarly luscious and soulful "The Perfect Plan". Finally, label boss George Kelly steals the show with a killer re-cut of Willie Bobo/Ronnie Laws favourite "Always There".

Review: Conan The Selector teams up with New Master Sounds, Brand New Heavies and Mother Earth vocalist Sulene Fleming on this release for Midnight Riot, which is a must for any self-respecting fan of soulful disco house.There are essentially two mixes to choose from: the Original rides a rolling backbeat and has more of an "authentic," 70s-inspired vibe about it, with saxophone liberally applied, while the Yam Who & Jaegerossa Partytyme mixes (plural because there are vocal and instrumental passes to choose from) opt for straight-ahead 4/4s and a more driving, energetic feel.
