Review: Keinmusik continues to offer up fresh interpretations of tracks from 'Send Return', &Me, Rampa and Adam Port's second collaborative full-length. This third volume of reworks begins with a frankly gorgeous, eyes closed Aknhoi revision of Cubicolour collaboration 'Before The Flood'. Utilising Cubicolour's vocals and the trio's lovely piano motifs, the mix blurs the boundary between soundscape deep house and tactile tech-house. Arguably even better is rising star Bella Boo's revision of 'Paris' (featuring vocals by Starving Yet Full), which re-imagines the track as a simultaneously squelchy and deliciously deep breakbeat house workout. Finally, Reznik & Mikesh offer up their interpretation of Bell Towers hook-up 'Pay To Play', re-casting it as a bouncy fusion of electroclash, cheery synth-pop and lo-fi house.

Review: A late-arriving Volume 3 in this series of EP releases from Joss Moog and Sebastien Guertau AKA Around7's 4th Sign project, and it marks something of a departure from the previous two. Where the previous installments (first out in 2016 and reissued in 2020) boasted six full-length tracks apiece, this one packs just three short skits or sketches, not one of them stretching as far as the 2:30 mark. Still, if the laidback, jazzual vibes of Vols 1 and 2 floated your boat then it's pretty certain you're gonna dig what's on offer here too.

Review: The Chewy label returns just in time for the hottest part of summer with an EP containing four equally scorching edits from the mysterious A Digital Needle outfit. Whether its the brass and string-heavy "I Who Have", the deft piano ripples of "Music", the swung bass and saxophone riff of "Keep" or the psyched-out flange funk of "Roll Her", there's something here guaranteed to set any dancefloor on fire.

Review: Some seriously sweet ass edits again courtesy of the discerning Discoalition authority, a label based in Bordeaux (France) and managed by head honcho SEEN ON TV. First up A Digital Needle takes the razor to Bruni Pagan's 1979 digger's delight "Fantasy", UK heroes Imagination get an ergonomic edit too, but for DJ use only with Rare Cuts' version of their 1981 classic "So Good". Finally "One And Only" by Coutel has those feel good, summertime, soul disco vibes with a loop taken from a particular classic but we don't kiss and tell on this one: keep diggin'!

Review: The fantastically named A/Jus/Ted - veteran producers Justin Strauss and Eddie Mars on a collaborative tip - make their debut on Under The Shade. "A Brighter Light", featuring the treacle-thick soul vocals of Jeremy Glenn, sits somewhere between electro-soul, early Chicago house and Balearic nu-disco. As you'd probably expect from the soul-minded Strauss, the resultant track is effortlessly soulful, quietly uplifting and brilliantly produced. The same could be said of the more instrumental Re A/Jus/Ted remix, which blends skittering proto-house rhythms and electrofunk dub elements with woozy modern deep house. Like the original, it's excellent.

Review: Somnambulant sonic flavours abound as NY house duo make their debut on Southern Fried with "Stay Up Here". Swaying with delicate pianos yet pumping with a prominent acid hook and sparkling with Miss Bee's lush vocal, it's deep without any danger of limpness. Remix-wise both Bonar Bradberry and The Rhythm Odyssey deliver the goods. Bonar spaces things out a little and adds a trippier, more yearning edge to the groove while The Rhythm Odyssey (AKA Dean Meredith from Chicken Lips) dub-funks out the whole affair with a powerful synth bassline. Lovely.

Review: 10 months ago, A Most Wanted Man made his debut on Monologues Records with "Hep Cat", a deliciously rubbery chunk of jazzy disco-house. This sequel for Flat White is not quite as disco-fired, though you'll still find a plenty of funky touches and dusty samples amongst the producer's on-point deep house grooves. Check first "Johnny Bassline", a chunky peak-time workout that flits from drowsy deepness to percussive sweatiness via a killer disco bassline, before back tracking to the drowsy deep house heat of "Meander On Carlisle" and its sweet combination of woozy chords and darting synthesizer solos. The accompanying remixes are tasty, too. Jacques Renault lights a bass-heavy deep house fire under "Meander On Carlisle", while Chris Flat White re-imagines "Johnny Bassline" as a bumpin' slab of deep disco-house.
