Review: It's becoming harder and harder to review Marco Dionigi releases without resorting to phrases like "the prolific Italian" and "his umpteenth release this year". The problem is, he is prolific, and he does release a lot of music. Here he returns after what seems like a few days away with another reliably solid collection of disco-flecked, sample-heavy dancefloor grooves. By now, we should all know what to expect: a selection of road-tested cuts that take in acid, contemporary Italian disco, modern cosmic, analogue house and rockin' disco. The formula rarely changes, but with this much variety and reliable dancefloor chops, it's impossible to complain. Enjoy!

Review: When operating out of his own Quantistic Division label, Marco Dionigi's releases offer excellent value for money. His latest self-released salvo contains no less than ten tracks, all of which are aimed squarely at the dancefloor. As the title suggests, Electro Pearls contains a swathe of heavy, throbbing cosmic disco outings built around thrusting arpeggio style basslines, bubbly synthesizer melodies and the producer's usual rolling drum machine beats. Naturally, you'll also find nods to the hazy rock influences found in Italian "Afro-cosmic" music (see the heavy dub disco bass of "No Sun (Nebula Mix)" and delay-laden guitar riffs of "Silent Moment"), as well as more wholehearted tributes to early '80s Italo-disco and the mentalist TB-303 assault that is "Acid Wave".

Review: This is in the disco section but if you're expecting glitterball-tastic 70s nostalgia you're definitely looking in the wrong place! Instead, the six tracks here draw on the more leftfield side of club-oriented 80s electronica for inspiration, throwing influences from Italo, EBM, electro, Belgian new beat and early Chi-town house into the pot to concoct a dark, hypnotic musical stew whose natural home is on those subterranean dancefloors where peaked leather caps outnumber the bare red lightbulbs ten to one. For non-specialist floors, the sleazy, throbbing 'Space Monster' is probably the best place to start...

Review: Always punctual cosmic disco hero Marco Dionigi always averages about an EP a month, and once again he's right on time with a new release. Taking the whole space thing quite literally this time round, here he presents a stellar three-track single. "Star System" appears as both a hi NRG style Italo-disco workout and a deeper, percussive house version, whilst "Constellation" is both a sleazy electro-disco joint with EBM undertones and, in its cosmic version, a bleepy, synth-heavy odyssey. Finally "Volt" is a minimal analogue box jam for a more underground setting.
