Review: Marco Dionigi's productivity knows no bounds. Having released more albums last year than some world-renowned bands manage in an entire career, the Italian continues to amaze with his stunning work rate. Like many of his previous sets, Alpha 96 features an analogue-heavy mix of wobbly cosmic disco, shirts-off Italo, wonky acid and curious late night house, all themed around a particular idea or subject. This time round, it's extraterrestrial activity and manned space flights, though in truth most of his material is fairly space-inclined. Check it!

Review: Marco Dionigi tends to give buyers a lot of bang for their buck. That's certainly the case here, with seven decidedly cosmic disco jams to choose from. The title track - a chugging, exotic chunk of atmospheric dub disco with lashings of Indian style instrumentation - is available in three different flavours. Of these, it's a toss up between the Dub and the Original Mix for us, with the former just shading it. Elsewhere, "Roccia Antica" layers backwards effects and pianos over a spiraling, wall-of-sound groove, while "Malinconia" is slow, dubby and pleasingly out-there. "Onde", a hazy ambient excursion featuring more droning sitars and "Tomorrow Never Knows" style backwards loops, is also worth a listen.

Review: Having released an unholy amount of albums, Marco Dionigi has decided to take a different approach with his latest digital-only release. So, instead of a sprawling collection, we get a tight EP featuring five contrasting versions of "The Inner Path". As usual, there's much to admire, from the analogue wooziness and drifting melodies of the Deep House Mix, and the late night cosmic shuffle of the Mantra Mix (all snaking synth lines and sparse electronic rhythms), to the head-nodding grooves and dreamy chords of the Ambient Mix. Dionigi gets out the guitars on the more organic, floor-friendly Nu Disco Mix, before staring heavenwards on the beatless Meditation Mantra Mix.

Review: We must admit that we were a little concerned having not heard from Marco Dionigi for ages. Of course ages in Marco's terms means like two weeks for anyone else. So yes, he's back with his first release since February, and he's got a whole ten new tracks to make up for lost time. The theme here is retro robots (that's Robbie The Robot from Forbidden Planet on the cover) so it's vocoder disco a-go-go. Highlights include the Kraftwerkian "Hello & Welcome", the moody pop of "I've Seen The Future" and the shimmering bleep fest of closer "Unterbrechungen".

Review: Italian label Quantistic Division has done well of late, presenting us with some new works by the legendary Daniele Baldelli in collaboration with Marco Dionigi; who's flying solo this time around. The Red Light EP sees Dionigi explore more experimental and unfamiliar territory which shows another wonderful side to his studio personality. After all; this Verona legend has been around a while! It opens up with the driving cosmic disco of the title track which features layers of captivating arpeggios and is as dark as you like it! The "dub mix" takes the track into dark and tunnelling techno territory which we really liked. The rusty smack electro of "Fuori Controllo" or "Beat79" were impressive, as was feelgood nu-disco of "Music & Strobo" which brings things back to the surface.
