This latest outing might not do much that other Lee records haven't, but as he's been earning a living making music like this for over 30 years, he's probably not overly concerned about that - and as one of the people that's been BUYING those releases for over 30 years, this writer isn't too bothered either! Featuring a vocal from Detroit-based Maurissa Rose, who's previously recorded with Theo Parrish and Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes as well as Lee himself, 'You Decide' is a sumptuous, sophisticated soulful houser with all the polish and panache you'd expect from a Lee production, and comes with a range of dubs, acapellas and instrumentals to suit your every DJing need - job (well) done!
Parisian DJ/producer Boogie Vice teams up with N-You-Up, a DJ/producer from the south of France, and Mx Blouse, a queer/non-binary rapper who hails from South Africa but is now also based in Paris, on what's essentially a straight-up cover of the Jungle Brothers classic, albeit with the addition of fresh - and non-jarring - rap elements from Blouse. The fairly self-explanatory Extended, Drumapella and Dub mixes plough a classic house furrow and have clearly looked to Chi-town for inspiration, while the bass-heavy and synthier Hope Street At Night Mix takes us into darker territory. A release that'll please the forward-looking and the traditionalists in equal measure.
