Charles, a UK house music legend with 35 years of excellence, joins forces with Ursula, a sought-after poet from Philly, in a dream collaboration brought to life on Selador. The track originally featured on the label's Decade 5 birthday EP, and here the German duo Clavis delivers a deep warehouse styled remix, showcasing Ursula's vocals over a pure, classic sound. And true to form, Charles provides an accompanying dub and acapella, maintaining the tradition of delivering peerless vocal gems, serving up another a stone-cold classic that lives up to the hype.
Los Primos makes a bold entrance onto Lapse Records with their inaugural EP, Under Stompin. Comprising Toronto's Cosmic JD and Aaron Santos, both associated with the Hypnotic Mindscapes label and party collective, this innovative project was born from an extended after-hour production session at Payphone studios. The resulting four-track collection showcases emotionally charged club tracks characterised by raw harmonics and modular electronics. "What We're On" kicks off with the acid-infused analogue tech-house while "Primitive Holiday" delves into darker, minimalist realms with hypnotic arpeggios and eerie pads, a collaboration with Japanese artist Masayuki Tomita. Further in, "Vicky's Out For Blud" injects raw retro techno energy with 90's vocal chops sampled from Nic Cage's "Vampire Kiss", while "The TS Chronicles" closes the transmission with a vocoder-led electro twist, resonating with Darwinian notions of natural selection through competition.
