DOWNLOAD MANAGER HELP

OVERVIEW

The Juno Download manager has been specially built to help our digital customers get their music files as quickly and reliably as possible. At it's most basic level, the Juno download manager allows you to start, pause, stop, sort and generally organise your downloads without lots of clicks or having to create big zip files. In addition there are many new features which allowing you do do useful things like choose how your files are named, group them into release folders, embed artwork into MP3 and Flac files, automatically import your tracks into iTunes, re-enable tracks from previous orders, and much more. For a full list of features, see below. If you have any problems, comments, suggestions we would be glad to receive them via our feedback form.

FEATURES

EMBED COVER ARTWORK

MP3 and FLAC files support tagging which means you can include additional information (tags) in the audio file. Commonly, artist/title information is stored in the tags (which then show up in your media player) but you can also add image/cover art into the files which can be displayed during playback. Typically the size of the artwork included in the files is less than 1% of the whole file size. Unfortunately for WAVs there is no standard for adding artwork (or artist/title information) so we cannot embed artwork in these.

ITUNES AUTO IMPORT

If you have "Automatically import into iTunes" selected in the Options menu, then after each file downloads, the download manager application will attempt to launch iTunes and import the file into your library. This should work for all MP3 and WAV files, although because WAV files do not support artist/label/artwork tagging, the artist/title information is all presented within the iTunes "Name" field. If however you choose to download your WAVs as FLACs, they cannot be imported because iTunes does not support FLAC. Please note, sometimes anti-virus or internet security packages interfere with the iTunes import, so if you have problems, this is the likely reason.

DOWNLOAD WAVs AS FLACs

FLACs ("Free Lossless Audio Codec" files) are compressed WAV files. Unlike lossy compression formats such as MP3 and AAC, FLACs do not remove any audio information from the original file, so the sound quality of the WAV is unaffected. WAVs encoded to FLAC are typically reduced in size to 55% to 65% of the original and only take up around half to two thirds of the disk space. Because of this, faster to download. You can also embed artist/title/artwork in FLAC files. FLAC files will play direct in your audio software e.g. WinAmp or, with certain codecs installed, iTunes and Windows Media Player.

CUSTOM FILE AND FOLDER NAMING

The file naming screen allows you to both choose how you name your files, and how you organise them into folders. For example, it is often desirable to group whole albums or releases together and number the tracks so that the play order is preserved. You also might like to group your tracks by artist, label or date. This is all possible. For most customers, we believe that the default settings chosen will provide the best results, but please feel free to experiment with different layouts (which you will be able to see previewed in the Example Layout pane).

QUEUE ORDERING

The download manager allows you to choose what order you get your downloads in. This is useful if you need a particular track urgently, or if there are large mix files on your order and you would rather get them last. To order the queue, you simply click on the + symbol next to a track and it will put it in the next available queue position. Then, if you click the download button, all of the other items will form in the queue behind the ticked item.

PAUSE/RESUME

Another useful feature of the download manager is the ability to pause and resume download process. This is done by clicking the 'pause' button during an active download. Once clicked, the pause button changes to a resume button and allows you to start up again where you left off. This is particularly useful if you want to use another bandwidth sensitive application but do not want to cancel the whole download job.

PLAY TRACKS ONCE DOWNLOADED

Once a track has downloaded, a play button appears next to it in the download manager. This allows you to immediately listen to the track using your own media player.

RE-ENABLE TRACKS FROM PREVIOUS ORDERS

We often get requests from customers to make their tracks available again for various reasons. To make this process easier, we have built this function into the download manager, so now, in the Order History tab, you are able to re-enable tracks from orders up to 10 days ago and download them again.

VIEW PREVIOUS ORDERS

The Order History tab allows you to see a history of all of the download orders that you have ever placed from Juno. Orders up to 10 days old can be re-enabled so that you can download the items again if required.

TECHNICAL INFO

The Download Manager is written in a computer language called Java and should work on any computer (that has got Java installed). Apart from working virtually anywhere, Java also has the benefit of allowing you to download your tracks without having to permanently install any software on your computer or do any restarts etc. It is designed to work in Java version 1.5 and higher. You can get the latest version of Java from here: https://www.java.com/. Installing or updating your version of Java should take only a couple of minutes
