Weaper's Choice - "Leaving You" (V's edit) - (5:30) 88 BPM
Review: This impressively expansive collection from experienced remixer Valique showcases some of the best downtempo and Balearic edits from his popular V's Edits series. There's certainly plenty to get the blood pumping and the juices flowing throughout, from a chugging, ten-minute take on Pink Floyd ('Brickwall') and a pleasingly squelchy take on Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams' 'Lose Yourself To Dance' (here renamed 'Lose Your Elf'), to a chunky dub-house re-imagining of Jimmy Cliff classic 'The Harder They Come' and a loopy, hypnotic, mid-tempo disco-rock revision of T-Rex ('Jewelry'). Throw in party-hearty takes on cuts from Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and the Beach Boys (an odd but impactful reimagining of 'Good Vibrations') and you have a great value compilation.

Review: Amazingly, it's 25 years since George 'E.A.S.E' Evelyn and then production partner Kevin 'Boy Wonder' Harper sat down and recorded "Dextrous", their monstrous, bleep-era classic on Warp. A quarter of a century later, Evelyn is still going strong, though the grooves have mellowed a lot in that time. Here, Warp celebrate the producer's epic career with a much-deserved retrospective. All the familiar favourites are present, from the rush-inducing thrill of early dancefloor smashers "I'm For Real" and "Aftermath", to the sinewy downtempo goodness of the decidedly Balearic "Les Nuits", the blazed hip-hop dub of "195 Llbs" and stoner soul of "70s 80s". This version also includes a number of exclusive remixes, with names like JD Twitch, Special Request, LFO, Morgan Geist and Loco Dice putting their own spin on this classic material.

Alf Emil Eik - "To You" - (4:10) 82 BPM
Fern Kinney - "Baby Let Me Kiss you" - (8:14) 83 BPM
Review: Second time around for Hans-Peter Lindstrom's decidedly Balearic, prog rock-tinged Late Night Tales selection, which first saw the light of day back in 2007. This time round, it's been given a gloss of new paint in the form of a sparkling digital remaster. While this is all well and good, the selling point remains the Norwegian producer's excellent, left-of-centre selections. There's another chance to check his own cover of Vangelis' "Let It Happen", classic Balearica from Fearn Kinney and Carly Simon, acapella action from Todd Lundgren, freestyle ambient jazz-funk from George Duke, a slew of forgotten prog rock faves and a brilliant dub track from Oslo mates Prins Thomas and Todd Terje ("Reinbagan").

Way Down - (6:12) 80 BPM
Go Down - (3:49) 83 BPM
Review: Luca Trevisi is LTJ Xperience, an Italian producer who began his career in the 1980s. As resident DJ at two of the most famous Italian clubs of the time: Kinky in Bologna and Cap Creus in Imola, he was one of the first Italian jocks to spin house and to reintroduce black music, jazz and latin-bossa classics from the '70s. These are the kind of tracks that gave birth to the acid jazz and rare groove movements. The Beggar Groove LP is his new album, the fourth dedicated to the 'research' of disco/funk, from its origins to today's rhythms feelings on the dancefloor. The smooth acid jazz of the opening track "Way Down" would make even Ludovic Navarre stand up and notice, while soulful and compelling deep funk of "Fooling You" can equally impress. According to the label, the title track of the album is the most demand track by the artist and never released digitally until now.

Aby Ngana Diop - "Michael Ozone's Liital Rhythm" - (3:41) 80 BPM
Review: You'd expect a compilation curated by open-minded DJ/producer Hunee to be eclectic in nature, and Hunchin' All Night is just that and more. Marketed simply as "a collection of his favourite dancefloor cuts from the '70s until modern time", the compilation set is packed with obscure and inspired jams in a variety of styles. Compare, for example, the gentle but tribal rhythms and new age synthesizers of Carlos Maria and Nuno Canavarro's "Blue Terra" with the glistening, mid-80s Balearic jazz-funk brilliance of Stanislas Tohon's "Owhaaou" (as re-edited by French digger Raphael Top-Secret), or even the Clavinet-heavy Highlife brilliance of Pat Thomas's "Yesu San Bra Disco Hi Life". And that's before we get to the acid-flecked techno madness of Villa Abo and Hunee's wonderfully dreamy and dubbed-out pulse of Mappa Mundi's "Trance Fusion".

So Here We Are - (4:27) 86 BPM
Give Thx - (3:33) 81 BPM
Review: Famously, George Evelyn's Nightmares on Wax project is the only surviving link to Warp's early days as a bastion of Yorkshire house and techno. Of course, the Leeds native left that style behind years ago - though, interestingly, two tracks on this belated seventh album ("Eye (Can See)" and "Tapestry") touch on soul-sampling house - instead turning his attention to slinky downtempo grooves. For the most part, Feelin' Good sticks to the plan, offering up slow, laidback, summery fusions of soul, dub, funk, instrumental hip-hop and string-drenched Balearic moods. It's something of a return to form after a string of so-so sets, recalling Evelyn's two greatest moments, 1990s' downtempo classics Smokers Delight and Carboot Soul.

Review: Brazilian beat fetishists, Beatnik City, are back proudly presenting a long player from Rio De Janeiro's best kept secret, Dr. K. They claim he's literally the city's best-kept secret - having tirelessly produced sizzling hot bossa nova infused beats for almost 15 years! this new album should change all that, boasting 17 fresh jams that fuse samba rhythms, a pinch of big beat goodness, a smidgeon of brass and lashings of carnival-friendly retro Latin vibes.

Voices - (8:54) 80 BPM
Review: Aussie adventurer Tornado Wallace seems to be getting better with age. Over recent years, he's delivered a string of brilliantly evocative, sun-kissed releases for the likes of ESP Institute, Beats In Space and Second Circle. Lonely Planet is his debut album, and it could well be his strongest release to date. The seven tracks are dreamy, trippy and atmospheric - we'd expect nothing less - and draw on a far wider palette of Balearic influences than we've heard on previous experiences. Coupled with a new-found desire to include more live instrumentation (particularly glistening, Peter Green style guitar passages, drums and exotic flutes), the result is an album that's as evocative, dreamy and humid as anything he's produced to date. In other words, it's a great album and comes highly recommended.

Have The Guts - (4:34) 82 BPM
Review: Yorkshire's Ewan Ewan (drum roll!) has relocated to Europe's new capital of electronic music; Berlin, like most ambitious young producers do these days. Despite being on a roll previous to his relocation, there's no doubt that the vibes and sounds of the German capital have rubbed off on him, as clearly heard on his new LP entitled There Is No Right Time. The dusty and lo-fi sounds of hip-hop inspired/disco-fied Berlin deep house are aplenty on this fine EP which covers a wide variety of moods and grooves. Highlights not limited to: the emotive deepness of "10405", the rusty and vintage lo-tech soul of "Waiting For L" or "Left On Lucy" (featuring fellow expat Steve Huerta) and the wonderful "Earnest Kelly" which you could imagine playing during a car chase in an '80s action film.

Situation - "Tequila Sun Down" - (4:46) 89 BPM
Review: York might not be the disco capital of the world, but the way the gang at Alpaca Edits carry on it might just as well be! They've been trotting out world class soul, disco and funk edits for a good while now, and here they deliver the second instalment of their compilation in aid of testicular cancer support. There are 15 quality scalpel jobs this time around, with highlights including the rumbling, evening poolside boogie of "I Need A Drink" by Hotmood, the punchy electro-disco of "Head Lights' by Stephen Richards and the white-hot 70s disco rock of "I'm A Man" Pontchartrain.

Daughter - (4:55) 80 BPM
Review: If you were judging Kieran Hebden's 11th Four Tet studio album merely on the way it's presented, you'd immediately think he'd spent the last two years immersed in early '90s ambient house albums. While it's unlikely he's done that, it's fair to say that New Energy does owe a debt to classic electronica sets from that period. For all the exotic instrumentation and subtle nods to post-dubstep "aquacrunk" experimentalism and chiming, head-in-the-clouds sunrise house, the album feels like a relic of a lost era. That's not meant as a criticism - New Energy is superb - but it is true that his choice of neo-classical strings, gentle new age melodies, sweeping synthesizer chords and disconnected vocal samples would not sound out of place on a Global Communication album.

Seaside Tune - (4:43) 80 BPM
Message From Library - (4:15) 88 BPM
Review: A Vision Of Panorama cooks up another multi-course Balearic banquet. This time he's flexed his generous, soft-centred sonics on Mellophonia. Each cut is a breezy, warm synth odyssey - highlights include the groove-heavy strutter "Heartbeat" (thanks to its loose sloppy bassline and confident synth shots) and the piano-tickling finale "Mosaic Xylos" (thanks to its flighty broken drums and arpeggiated insistency). The only thing to be wary of here is the misleading title: there is more than one seaside tune here, they're all primed for the beach... And pretty much any other activity or location you have planned this summer.

Bruxo (JAJA remix) - (5:56) 89 BPM
Review: More indie world music vibes courtesy of Thomas Von Party's esteemed Multi Culti imprint. The folklorica of Ecuadorian producer Nicola Cruz's Cantos de Vision EP gets a bunch of wicked remixes on this EP. Starting out with Simple Symmetry's dark, bumpy and grinding rendition of "Tzantza", Earthly Delight's Yor Kultura from the Netherlands deliver a lo-slung deep funk makeover of the track too. "Bruxo" gets a couple of remixes as well, but it was all about the aforementioned Von Party's deep tribal voodoo acid groove: which will take you deep into the spiritual home of the the rainforest.

Review: The first in a series of compilations by Jura Soundsystem which blends dub, ambient, downtempo, boogie and proto house with a focus on previously unreleased music, out of print titles and some special versions edited specifically for the album. According to label boss Kevin Griffiths, the intention of this project was to delve deeper into the reissue pond and unearth some lesser known tracks and artists. Light one up and swagger to the sunkissed groove of Astral Engineering's "Seashore Dub", submit to the sweet steel drums and cosmo-dub vibes of Ken Dang's "Born In Borneo" (Jura Soundsystem Edit) or get down to the boogie-down vibe of Tabou Combo Superstars' "Ooh La La" (Jura Soundsystem Edit). The end of the album includes some soothing ambient tools.

Review: Fresh from dropping a pair of fine fusion EPs with Dele Sosimi on Wah Wah 45s, Medlar returns home to Wolf Music Recordings with his most expansive release since 2013 debut album Sleep. In keeping with his musical evolution since then, Aerial is a thrillingly eclectic, colourful and imaginative affair, with Medlar flitting between the Wally Badarou-on-acid vibes of the undeniably cosmic title track; the acid-fired, cowbell-rich strut of 'Iguanadon'; the percussion-rich Dinosaur L mutations of 'Elephant Bingo'; the downtempo jazz-funk of 'Elv'; the late-night, drum machine driven weirdness of 'Cr78-108'; the '89 NYC garage-meets-New Jack Swing flex of 'Phoenix Lights'; and the slow-motion, bass-heavy Balaearica of 'Sin Prisa'. In a word: ace!

Review: This seven-track collection gathers together the vinyl-only cuts from Georg Levin's 2010 album Everything Must Change, adding various alternate versions and instrumentals. The title track is the former Sonar Kollektiv mainstay's best track since "When I'm With You", his impeccable 2000 debut. It has just the right mix of heartfelt soul, electro-funk swing and smooth dancefloor bump. It's presented here in both vocal and instrumental versions, with the former standing out. Stevie Wonder cover "That Girl" is good fun, too, especially the Dub Mix, which throws in some sprightly house-not-house drums and killer synth bass hooks for a more floor friendly vibe. The EP closes with vocal and instrumental versions of the ultra-smooth "I Need To Understand".

Review: Leeds legend Nightmares On Wax has long been affiliated with UK electronica giants Warp since the very beginning. 'Shape The Future' will mark his eighth LP for the label and that's not forgetting a couple of dozen EPs he's done for them over the years too. Put simply, George Evelyn is one of the most respected producers in UK electronica and we're sure excited whenever he puts out new music. Mixing hip-hop, dub, soul and gospel sounds, the album features guest artists such as Kuahitl Vasquez, Jordan Rakei and Sadie Walker. Evelyn has explained that the album was a journey 'both inwardly and outwardly all over the world, and both physically and emotionally'. Highlights include the dope yet soulful beats of "Tell My Vision" featuring the fine vocal talents of the aforementioned Ashong, the wicked dub / Afrobeat crossover of "Tomorrow" featuring LSK and of course the super soulful lead single "Citizen Kane" featuring Mozez.

Label boss Dave Allison is on to a winner here with the loose, live and jazzy Moon Safari-esque vibes of the lead track. However on "Solar Flare" he successfully throws some mellow disco sounds into the mix. There's also four remixes included, with the deep Balearic moods of Steefs mix and the fun, '80s electro-funk of Heion's rework being the best of the bunch.

Review: Gorgeous sound manipulators Maribou Sate have brought their artfully tranquil atmospheres to their first full-length LP. There's been a warm and excited buzz around this release, perhaps due to the pair's way with soundscapes, texture and emotional release, maybe also thanks to their collaborations with Pedestrian and Jono McLeery. The hazy glow that drapes each track with a softness most producers seek to erase gives a sweetness to their sound. Sometimes melancholy, sometimes uplifting, always an experience, this album is just a little bit of beauty. Ignore the shimmering "Varkala" and risk missing out on something truly magical.

Review: Out Of The Blue, Phil Mison's first compilation for some time, was apparently inspired by his first few trips to the White Isle of Ibiza, and specifically the unlikely set of circumstances that led to him filling in for Jose Padilla at Cafe Del Mar. Musically, it's reflective of the story, joining the dots between impossible-to-find rarities (see the loved-up instrumental jazz-rock of "Jelly" by The Cactus Rose Project and the life-affirming fusion business of Christoph Spendel Group's "Forever", for starters), huggable Balearic synth-pop, flamenco-inspired sunset gems, and a smattering of head-in-the-clouds Italian dream house killers. Given Mison's heritage and status as one of Balearica's top selectors, it's perhaps unsurprising that Out Of The Blue is undeniably brilliant.

From The Sky - (5:18) 85 BPM
Review: The debut long-one from London low end veteran Seven, this piece of work has been on the cards for a long time, and what a piece of work it is. From the paranoid arpeggios of the opener "Hypnotik" we know we're in for a treat. Each cut adding demonstrative drama from the last, we're teased by the industrial strength bass purrs of "Orbital", we're driven beyond levels of gut-churning hype on "Movie Scene" and taken directly into the heart of the dance on the big drum evangelism of "Future Flamenco" and the slo-mo jungle adventure "From The Sky". Elsewhere vocalists Jodie and Alys Be add a softer, human touch on smouldering cuts such as "Came To Play", "Lay Me Down" and "Resistance". And that's barely the half of it. Truly, Seven showcases exactly how creative and engaging a modern dubstep album can be when cooked by the right sub chef.
