Review: Having spent January appearing on numerous VA collections, Ipswich badman Conrad Subs charges into the new year with his first proper single, a meaty double header 'Lose It' and 'Whole Lotta Things' on Sub Heavy Audio. The former takes us east with its vocal sample and use of percussion weaving a mystic web of gully intensity while the latter goes for more of a straight-up early 2000s Bristol style grizzle. Big bubbly low end and slippery breaks that never let up. Both absolutely kill it. Shout to Subby each and every.

Review: Paul SG's soulful stable just keeps on serving up the good stuff as two long time members of the Jazzsticks crew roll up with two no-nonsense dancefloor gems. Carter dusts off his keys and trumpet for a silky smooth strut into sunset on 'Outlined' while Decon takes things back to darker, stripped-back ravey edge with some classic stabs and vocal samples on 'So Simple'. Remarc has just brought his seminal Dollar label back with his first new material in years and attention is essential: "Bad Man Tune" is all about the subby wriggles, alien switches and understated savageness that runs deep beneath the tightly sprung beats. Elsewhere Serum boots the 1994 classic "Drum N Bass Wise" into the future with a nasty venomous bassline and twisted mentasms while Bladerunner challenges us to a duel with some pistol-toting drum shots and sense-blurring energy. Finally Turno seals the deal with his own "Forward". With its loose swing, moody bass variations and white knuckle drum momentum it's the perfect way to end the EP... And leave us demanding more very soon. Remarc! You know what to do...

Review: Bristol damager Gray throws 50 shades of gully into the mix right here for his debut EP on Born On Road. Kicking off the relationship with serious intent, the EP kicks off with a massive Ragga Twins massacre ("Bloodbath") and the fire just gets hotter with every track; "One Spliff" instantly rouses crowds with its great twist on the vocal, "Rubabub" is pure mixing pleasure with its loopy vocal and on/off drone bass, "Buss Riddim" has the flabbiest bassline this side of the Weight Watchers head office while "Get To The Chopper" closes the session with absolutely nasty basses and daft AI vocals. Review: Possibly one of the most misleading names in the game... The only thing erroneous about Master Error is his alias. This man is on point and has been for some years now. This EP is a perfect case in point: a generous grot fest that shoots more lasers and has more muscle than the US army. Highlights include the sassy soul of 'Don't Want You', the walloping set-opener 'Breakthrough', the already massive 'Lakota' (with Toxinate) and the brute force 'Raw Flavour'. Bonus points for such a misleading title, too. Master Error isn't just breaking through, he's an established part of the new generation! Masterful.
