Review: The mysterious Unknown Artist returns to Fokuz with another fat round-up of re-rubs and big sample-slapping D&B. Good time D&B for party heads, and sculpted well enough for the heads to stroke their beards or give a wry grin, once again we're treated to a whole load of familiar vocals and hooks laced carefully in, around and over the breaks. Highlights include the Darondo flexing 'Didn't I' (which some may remember from Breaking Bad), the seminal rave classic 'Need Your Loving' and the Badu to the bone 'On & On' but each cut is guarantee to get the butts wriggling.

This will trigger some amazing responses wherever and whenever you play it. Elsewhere India.Arie and Roy Ayers get highly respectable treatment while we climax with a trip to the Latin quarter. Quite possibly one of Unknown Artist's best editions yet.

Review: Super prolific Sevin returns to Fokuz with more woozy soul workouts. At points laid back and hazy, at others absolutely off the wall, once again he's baked a collection of back pocket essentials to throw out and surprise your dancefloor. Highlights include the grizzly subtle wonk on 'You Something', the total and utter lunacy (and precision satire) of 'Generic', the sexy saxy Random Movement flavoured jazz fest 'Rainy Days' and the wonderfully slinky, springy finale 'Boomerang'. Rated.

Review: It's definitely summer time as the big soulful booties start rolling out and sounding perfect. Fokuz have been a great source of these edits over the years and these 90s switch-ups are no exception. In fact they're some of the best we've heard as the likes of Tupac, Erykah Badu and Roy Ayers get the 174 treatment. Subtly done in a way that's reminiscent of the early 2000s golden era liquid, they give the original song all the space it needs to breath while bringing it into dnb realm. Highlights include the glistening jazz of 'Call Tyrone' and the Roy Ayers iconic 'Searching'. Beautiful.

Review: Fokuz Recordings consistently release some of the best compilation albums around. Their pool of artists is so diverse and so top quality that an assortment of their work is always going to be special, especially when they bring in outside talent like Break and Zero T. Collaborations 2 is what is says on the tin: remixes and other collaborative projects and blimey, it's good stuff. Joakuim's '8am Roller' is the perfect example, a deft piece of piano-based smoothness that rolls out to your heart's content with sultry results, an instant classic of liquid-sized proportions. The Break remix is a welcome addition, as is the steppy yet soulful Zero T remix of Ben Carlos. Another very, very good selection of cuts from the always sublime Fokuz crew.

Review: Releasing on Focuz for some time now, UK-based Malaky has been bringing his own blend of harmonious liquid and breakbeat-inspired rhythms to the worldwide D&B scene. This two track EP explores his deeper side, starting with the lush textures and widescreen sound of "Vibrate", a true liquid stepper that should sit high on any D&B setlist. "Own World" features soulful vocals from Lyndsey Murray and launches straight into whimsical string sampling and hard stepping beats. Warm rolling bass smothers the low end in a deep, resonant glow, leaving a barely heard sax to echo into the sunset. A gorgeous way to finish your evening.

Review: Lift up those hands and begin worshipping the sun - your summer playlist has arrived. Overflowing with fluid jazzy vibes and soaring liquid rhythms, each track on this EP sounds as though it was made for every soulful D&B lovers' own personal party soundtrack. "Low Amp", "Jazz Kiss" and "Summer Smiles" all bring beautifully light jazz sampling and live instruments to the fore. Add the distinctly harder hitting but none-less soulful "Cover Girl" to the mix with its hard stepping beats and big, wavering bass underpinning the whole shebang and you've got yourself a hit. Don't even think about lighting that BBQ without it.

Review: Joining the Focuz family in smooth style, Donnie Dobson has swaggered his way from Berlin into every rolling D&B set this year. Fresh and clear sounding with a fixed eye on what makes the crowd move, Dubson's funky aesthetic brings some much-needed life back to the summer liquid scene. Both tracks offer fun-loving sunshine beats, however it's the B-Side you want to watch out for. Big stepping and with the exact type of nasty bass/sweet harmonies juxtaposition that really causes a stir, expect far more where this came from in the near future.

Review: A very palatable EP indeed here from DJ Clart who pairs light, feathery melodies with warm instrumentals and cooing basslines. "The Grind", the first track of the EP, sets the tone with muffled atmospherics, pattering drums and sparkling synth sweeps. "Without You" is all heartfelt, distant vocals, pulsing drum beats, cinematic sweeps and warm, purring tones, whilst "A Fine Whine" is a more subdued cut, executed in a sparse soundscape. Last but not least, "Who We Are" brings in the talents of Elijah John for a glorious finale to the EP.

Review: Expect stylish, pared down D+B to be emitted from this Basic Elements EP on Fokuz. Kredit blends a range of sounds together to make something truly spectacular across the four-track selection. First up is the title track, with its spaced out atmospherics, thumping drum kicks and unsettled, wavering tone. Next, we ponder over "What Is Life?" which is another blissed out offering with swaggering, low slung beats and a sparse soundscape. "Between Heart & Distance" is full of pattering drums, bleeps and clicks and segues nicely into "Quiet Stars" which completes the EP.

Review: Paul Donald aka Brother is no stranger to drum & bass, having been a master of his own productions for almost a decade. His blend of jazzed-up funky vibes and jungle and breakbeat-influenced rhythms make his tracks some of the most sought after on the liquid and soulful D&B circuit and this LP sampler shows just what he's made of. Review: Chartstalker gets all lush, lilting and lyrical in the Born Again EP. Kicking off with the sultry, sonorous sounds of "With Me", it's all about the uplifting atmospherics, swooning sweeps and punchy drums setting the pace and tone for the duration. This one's a real laid back cut, which will work well on the dancefloor too - hands in the air style! Accompanying cut "Born Again" goes in on a more contemplative tip with shimmying beats, hushed cooing tones and clinking piano keys. Charming from start to finish.

Review: A fun filled four-track EP on Fokuz here, with Dynamic heading it up and then a slew of collabs with Command Strange to finish it off. First up though is his solo release "Cotton Club Thing" which is a lovely, jiving slice of funk filled D&B with rattling breaks and oodles of soul. Next up is the eponymous track of the EP "Girls" with its swirling melodies and chiming beats; then there's the more serious sounds of "Jazzmine" with its jazzy beats and laid back allure. Finally "So Much Tenderness" rounds the EP off with a shimmying chirrup.

Review: A scintillating EP here from Skeletone who lends his hand to the Fokuz imprint with impressive style and aplomb. Opener "Hope This Makes You Happy" is a charming cut with drifting rhythms, humming sub bass and a seductive vocal which curls over the beats like smoke rings on a summers day. After this we move on to "Pieces" - another contemplative one, with lingering lyrics, jazz-y piano keys and punchy, rolling drums. And then last of all it's a collab with Silent Groove as "Wish I" brings things to a close with lush atmospherics, soulful undertones and plenty of gentle liquid vibes.

Review: Maduk provides a couple of stunners on Fokuz. First up, "Hold On" is a glorious, uplifting slice of liquid sunshine featuring massive builds, gorgeous piano keys and shimmying breaks with a Hospital style oozing out of every beat. A polished vocal adds further weight to the feel-good furore. This is one to drop for the happy vibes. Accompanying this is "Never Again" with its jittering chords dominating the intro, it swiftly drops into another upbeat anthem with vocodered vox and lilting piano keys.

Review: A cracking various artist EP here from a range of artists new and old on the Fokuz label. Getting things started with its smokey, jazz-infused tones is Dynamic's "Up My World" which is all shuffling breaks and swirling atmospherics. Next is Sunny Crimea's "I Want It" which pairs iconic chuckling breaks with shimmying trumpet tones and warm, undulating bass below. After that it's over to Rowpieces for "Concept Of Love" with its low-slung humming and rattling percussion and cool swagger, before Kredit's "Captured Moments" rounds things off in style.

Review: Flowrian presents a smashing album on Fokuz; an expansive collection of tracks, this one is bound to impress. With its light, delicate rhythms and intricate percussion, underpinned by gliding melodies and sumptuous vocal elements, there's plenty for the liquid fans to savour here. Kicking off with "Mark Foam" with its gentle, rippling sounds, we are taken through such moments as "The Suns Shadow" with its deep, rhythmic pulse, and the blissed out psychedelia of "Road To Atlantis". Ever reflective, cuts such as "Casandra" draw out the more contemplative side of Flowrian with its melancholy trumpets and drifting malaise. This is well worth checking out if you like more gentle, liquid D&B with plenty of soul and sultriness.

Review: Salaryman provides something rather different here on Fokuz. The "Beautiful Love EP" is a slice of contemplative, slightly eerie D&B with plenty of Salaryman's own musical identity stamped on it. "Dark Hope" opens the EP with ominous, groaning atmospherics, haunted instrumentals and rolling percussion. The blissed out SFX are juxtaposed with booming sub bass and the whole thing has the feeling of anticipation running through it. Accompanying this is the title track "Beautiful Love" which brings in the vocal talents of Nori for another deep and meaningful slice of dreamy, ethereal D&B with oodles of soul and splendor about it.

Kicking things off is Dynamic's "Indelible" with its soft, breezy atmospheric sweeps, timid breaks and glistening melodies. Next is Pixel's "Doubt" with its tripping beats, swirling piano melodies and hypnotic glow, whereafter Dynamic & Blade team up for "Soul Hypnosis" which is a more sparse offering, dominated by pattering beats and echoing vocals. Review: Command Strange's next release comes to us via the Fokuz imprint with two solid tracks plus a further two digital exclusives - you just can't say no to this! First up is the title track "Rock Steady" with its raw, metallic sounds, pattering drums and quirky SFX. Next is "Open Your Eyes" which is underpinned by booming bass and dominated by chiming beats and echoing snippets of female vocal. "Sugar", the first of the two digital exclusives, is a deep and meditative cut with swirling synth work, whilst "All That Heaven Allows" is all choral elements with booming atmospheric sweeps.

Review: The latest Fokuz release sees a veritable meeting of cultures as Russian producer Nelver collaborates with Brazilian talent Simplification for the two track Running EP. Both tracks are underpinned by a strong sense of melodicism, with the rolling beats of the title track combing with soft piano keys and big synth chords with just the right amount of abrasion to keep things balanced. "One Moment" meanwhile is characterised by its sun-drenched soundscape and icy cold bass, perfectly encapsulating the disparate climes of the two producers.

Review: Intelligent Manners present their album The Movement on Fokuz with great aplomb, channeling a calm, docile sound full of warm sweeping instrumentals and gentle breaks. Kicking off with "All By Myself", its all sparkling, shimmying rhythms and pattering drums from the off. Moving through the soulful "Brand New Day" which features the syrupy sweet vocal tones Iriann Joyce, we come across tracks such as the stripped back "Marmalade", and the moody "Ball & Chain (feat. Nuage)" with its brooding bass and echoing lyrics. Elsewhere, make sure you check out the two Command Strange collabs, as well as the one with Enei - "Midnight Runaway" which shakes things up good and proper. A highly commendable album here.
