Review: Recently, two "like-minded musical explorers" joined forces to "illuminate the shared roots and spirit of rebellion at the heart of dub and jazz". These two aforementioned troubadours, Prince Fatty (Hollie Cook) and Nostalgia 77, ended up getting some serious attention for the record, In The Kingdom Of Dub, too. Two standout LP tracks, "Medicine Chest" and "Skeletons", both now get a (dubbed out) release in their own right here on this digital double A-side.

Review: Three mixes to choose from of this latest salvo from Permanent Vacation co-founder Benjamin Frohlich, which finds him joining forces with vocalist Vilja Larjosto, who's perhaps best known for her previous collaborations with Feater on Running Back. 'Coldwave/synth' is what it says at the top of this page, but the emphasis is firmly on the latter part of the equation here - think bliss-y 80s synth-pop rather than glacial gothic electronica. The accompanying Dubstramental offers a slightly mellower/deeper alternate pass, but it's the Dubwise Mix that wins out for yours truly as it looks to ACTUAL dub (and maybe some early 90s William Orbit remixes?) for inspiration.

Review: More than a few eyebrows were raised at Junodownload HQ when we first heard this fine EP from Marcus Worgull, which marks his return to Innervisions after a three-year absence. While the title track is in some ways typical of the label's output in recent years - think Balearic guitars and passionate Americana vocals over a slick and hypnotic tech-house beat - the other two tracks are a notable departure. Both explore the sub-heavy swing of authentic dub-house, with alluring, speaker rattling, delay-laden, percussion rich shuffle of opener "Skango" particularly impressive. "Seen", where dub bass and rolling deep house beats are encased in bubbly electronics and smile-inducing synth riffs, is also impressive.

Review: Here we have Timewarp Inc, the in-house production team at Athenian funk/nu-disco label Timewarp, and they've decided to delve into their mighty back catalogue and well, remix it. Hence, "The Remix Session Vol 1" - a collection boasting 14 prime cuts including the moodily hypnotic funk loops of "Anti Pop Song" by Ancient Astronauts, the forlorn Two Tone vibes of "Smile On Your Face" and the machine-like breaky funk goes synthy disco sizzler "Da Gypsy Groove" by Leon.

Review: Athens-based Angelos Stoumpos AKA Timewarp Inc is something of a musical chameleon, swapping back and forth between the worlds of reggae and funk/disco with ease. This latest offering on his own Timewarp Music label finds him firmly in the former camp, as he reworks a track from Virginyah feat Rsn's recent 'Therapy Sessions' EP - a soulful, trip-hoppish affair in its original form - inna reggae style and, indeed, fashion. Virginia Fragkoulatzi's vocal can be heard in full effect on the original mix, while the EP also packs Instrumental and Dubstramental remixes for when you're deep into the headnodding zone...
