No word, no warning, no hype, no histrionics; just king DRS casually dropped a new album sized mixtape full of brand new originals with artists such as Dogger, Sl8r, Chiccoreli, Zar, Disrupta and Mindstate (to name a few) Loaded with interesting skits and interludes, along with a full mix version, this is DRS at his most wide armed, soulful and vibrant. Juiced up with plenty of fodder for the soulful DJs to spin, but sculpted as a musical experience, this is an amazing deep dive into the deepest corners of Delrokski's soul.

Review: The Noisia remixes keep on firing out of the Vision HQ with unstoppable pace and an impressive range of styles and approaches. This fifth volume might be one of their biggest so far as contributors range from Annix to Bensley, Tsuruda to Kasra to Sorza and so many more in between. Every track is a highlight but special shouts go to the legendary Skynet for his blisteringly sci-fi take on 'Banshee', H0st's glitchy, tripped-out take on 'Diplodocus' and Molecular's tense and emotional flip of 'Bad Dreams'. Powerful scenes.

Review: Polish talent Satl returns to Lenzman's label The North Quarter with his most accomplished and wide-armed bodies of work so far. Taking us on a trip through his influences and widescreen musical vision, the album stretches from full-on technoid D&B ('Hard Times') to bubbling, twisted funk ('Werk It') via smouldering, unclassifiable dark soul ('Ride Or Die') and dreamy breakbeats ('Standing By') With many other sides to his sound revealed throughout, this is an exceptional and very impressive album.

Review: The Ghost Snares team have most certainly unboxed a real gem with this new collection from Drumatic, who spoils us with four tracks of original drum & bass flavour. We open up with the steadily sweeping sub synths and gorgeous vocal sampling of the title track 'Good Time', setting a floating mood instantaneously. Next, abstract string-like synth sweeps and euphoria-inducing pads combine on 'Roscoe Street', before 'Emptiness Inside' follows up with a liquified paddle through murky bass notation and chilling synth work. Finally, an unexpected touch of breaks as 'Lift Me Up' focuses on more melancholy piano chords and choppy breaks at a more garage-sentric speed, closing this one off with an emotional splash.

Review: Let's just list the amount of stone cold bass OGs on this collection: Krust, dBridge, Om Unit, Danny Scrilla, V.I.V.E.K, Von D, Moresounds, AU, Oris Jay & Chris Innersound and whole load more of soundsystem culture's most innovative craftsman working at the deepest levels of the low end coalface all feature on this immense and forward thinking document. Including the curator Amit himself. Every track is a highlight, each one and abyssal, immersive experience but essential highlights include the toxic bass bounces of Moresounds' "They Can't Handle It", the 23rd century UKG of Oris and Chris's "They Can't Handle It" and Krust's big screen masterpiece "Escape From Finland". Amit deserves a holiday. Or a massive trophy. Or both. Bass compilations don't get much bigger than this.

Review: Messrs Pritchard and Spacek have only just dropped a killer new album on us in the shape of 93 Million Miles and now they add more fuel to the fire of critical acclaim with this EP. Not only do they serve up a VIP version of one of the album's strongest moments in "Out In The Streets" but two further new arrangements as well. We have to start with the VIP though which marries the bouncing digital dancehall meets juke of the original with an all encompassing assault of explosive jungle rhythms. Review: After a period of sporadic dispatches, the mighty Diffrent crew return with a collection of fresh originals and reboots of label classics. Part VA album, part statement of intent; 'Revolution Of The Giraffe' captures everything you already know and love about the label (its bleeding edge jungle sound and motley crew of cross-generational musical misfits) while supercharging us for what they have in store for the future. As with anything they've put out since launching way back in 2010, boundaries are blurred as we glide between jungle, D&B, 160, breaks and all things in between. Switching through bouncy dancehall vibes to the deep, dubby sway of Von D's delightfully filthy dubstep mix, there's plenty to get those feet moving here. Review: Since their inception, there are few labels that have been able to tie the fusion of Jamaican system-influenced sounds with the UK underground as well as the Nice Up! Team. We have been absolutely loving their journey in recent times, with this latest selection seeing them gathering some of their biggest hitters for one of our favourite compilation drops of 2021. That list of heavy hitters includes the likes of Danny T, Tradesman, Red Eye HiFi, Taxman, Escape Roots and many more, all of whom contribute a fantastic combination of instrumental and vocal fire. The quality level is so high, from the footwork inspired drum rolls of Casement's 'Mutiny', to Congi's spacious rethink of Origin One's 'Dead & Buried' and even Gray's big room recreation of 'Strangers' from Mr Benn & Tiya X An. There are a couple of clear highlights for us, including Wrongtom's dubwise rethink of Seanie T's 'Veterans', which features one of the most vibrant collections of UK hip hop vocalists we have ever seen. As well as this, the Riddim Punks rework of Think Tonk & General Jah Mikey's 'None Of Dem' is anthem material if ever we heard it. Fantastic work!

Review: Everybody loves a good VA, it's just wicked getting a whole big album full of tracks from different artists - the definition of a kid in a candy shop. This one from Uncommon has a cool combination of bigger and smaller acts, from the mighty Kasra to lesser known quantities like Resist. Kasra's 'Needles' is a standout, a fiercely minimal slapper that gargles and gurgles its way straight into your brain, and for anyone that is into the Critical sound: this is the tune for you. Kanine, another rising star, hits hard on 'Searching', a tune that reminds us of the recent Klippee tracks over on Lifestyle Music. All in all, this is a very solid little VA - yes yes!
