Cimm & Sumgii - "Cabs Here" - (5:12) 133 BPM
Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop from Cimm, a producer who has been on an absolute spree for the last couple of years, with this latest offering being another box of dubwise wizardry. We open up with the chanted vocal backdrops and sweeping sub textures of 'Coast 2 Coast', a mind-bending title track that packs a hell of a punch. Next, Cimm players further into those initial vocal themes as choppy slices are slapped across the more minimal, aquatic pads of 'Scorpion Death Lock', with 'Make Up Your Mind' then upping the energy with mystic melodies and moody basslines to match. Finally, Sumgii jumps on board for a bubbling display on 'Cabs Here', giving us a soft landing to close things off.

BAKEY - "Wannit" - (4:50) 132 BPM
Review: Long live team Alpha Pup, an excellently organised project that have moved onto the third edition of their epic '20/20' compilation series, exploring the most lethal reaches of underground bass music. Featuring hard hitting originals from the likes of Ivy Lab, Dismantle, Rocks FOE, Bakey and more, it's clear that the team have gone all out on this collection, with sounds ranging as wide as the hardcore inspired mysticism of 'Naananaana' from Rohaan, to the industrial techno-flavours of Ila Brugal's 'Cynical'. The whole project packs a punch, but our highlights would have to include both the intense metallic madness of Deft's 'OKURTHEEXPERT', alongside Manni Dee's monstrous 'Wet Slide' creation. Top work all around!

Late Ones - (2:54) 131 BPM
Review: Two things in life are guaranteed, Critical Music remaining as consistent as ever and Hyroglifics continuing to push the boundaries further than ever though sonically possible. This latest album sees a truly vibrant collection put on display, exploring the farthest stretching reaches of the Hyroglifics sound, from the thumping half-time sweeps of 'Sing To It' alongside Nah Eeto's crispy vocal display, to the sub-smashing LFO crunches of 'Juggin' and more party-driven atmospherics of 'Late Ones'. We see a number of additional vocal appearances across the project, with Yeo Limone, Black Josh, Lyza Jade and Fuex all delivering unique and inspiring performances. With such a wide array of sonic mastery on display, it's difficult to pick favourites, but the sharpened synthesiser twangs of 'Burnt Tongues' and roller-inspired rumbles of 'You Got It' would be two immediate standouts.

Review: 1985 digging deep into the 140/170 axis with its fully internatty crew once again. Some of the tunes have become in demand 2022 IDs already - including Monty and Visages's 'Tek' and Alix Perez's beautiful 'Not Alone' - other highlights include the monstrous junglism of ICJ's 'Metrodome', Visages' woozy blues on 'Love Conspiration', Cesco's happy-slapping 'No Fuss' and Paige Julia's almighty 'Ease Your Mind'. What a collection, 1985 doing the absolute business right now!

Mourne - "Jamais Connu" - (9:13) 133 BPM
Review: Over the course of 2023, there is no denying that Incurzion Audio were one of the most impressive imprints out there, with a fantastic focus on unveiling a wide range of new dubstep talent. This time around, they commence the year with a heavyweight compilation drop, inviting 30 artists inside for the fourth edition of their 'We Are Incurzion' series. From the epic soundscaping of Gendo's 'Marble Elephant' to the emotive synth melodies of Lokal's 'Flatline' and more minimal percussive clicks of 'Ballistic' from Undercentrum & UMBRA, we get a fantastic array of electronic sounds to enjoy. For us, the two standouts include both the stomach-turning sub crunches of RWB's 'Vask Des Na' and of course the mind-melting acidity of Eth:er's monstrous 'Requiem' original. Awesome work across the board!

Kitchen - (4:00) 130 BPM
Review: As always, the quality levels are super high with this new White Peach drop, a label that continues to push the already vast boundaries of 140. This time around, BLOCKLAB takes the reins across four smokey originals. First up, the eerie, sweeping synth lines and bulbous bass pulses of the title track 'Alarm Room' are summoned, before 'Basement' takes a percussive-heavy focus, combining floating chimes with gnarly vocal slices. Next, 'Diego' takes us on a trip through clunking syncopated drum slams and grizzly subs to match, before 'Kitchen' gives us a stomping outro, laden with alarm-like synth basses and crunching subs below.

Free Your Mind - (5:17) 134 BPM
Review: Next up from Peaky Beats, another solid four track collection as we hear a continued delving into the expansive realms of UK Garage, a sound that has continued to grow in popularity and poise over the last few years. First up, skippy chord progressions and intensely rhythmic drum arrangements kick us off on 'Free Your Mind', a summertime showdown jam-packed with tidy vocal chops and smooth subs, followed by 'Zen Mode', a more old school sounding bubbler with the OG drum sounds to match. Next up, a serious sizzler in '2001', with this original being stuffed to the brim with moody subs and shimmering shaker textures. We then close off on '10 Rounds Of Dub', a more mystic switch-up, focussing on unique percussive feelings and moody pads to match. Tidy!

Leeds 2 Kyoto - (5:22) 134 BPM Hot
Review: The Peaky Beats team has been firing on all cylinders over the past few weeks, with this latest link up with Stones Taro showing just how much energy is being poured into the PBR imprint. We open up with 'Leeds 2 Kyoto', a chord-driven skip through choppy syncopated percussion and acidic basslines, with the more pad-focussed synth sweeps of 'Wind Power Ship' then providing some immediate contrast. After this, the breaks reign supreme as 'Karate Cat' unloads a jittering fusion of crunchy drum samples and moogy bass action, with 'Demon Dubs' then giving us a final, stripped back, LFO warbler, closing us off with a smash.

Review: Sneaker Social Club unveils Ivy Lab's latest offering deepening the duo's evolution from their drum and bass roots. Comprised of Gove Kidao and Jon Fogel, this Mild EP, born from a purposeful break in 2023 to experiment freely in the studio, presents a potent mix of jungle and drum and bass influences, intertwined with footwork elements and Ivy Lab's unique sound design. Tracks like "Look Away" and "N.V.T 01" showcase their knack for combining rugged bass weight with innovative production techniques, while "Kik Bak" delivers an acutely angled, pitched-up rap attack to further galvanise their radical sound.

Review: Polish talent Satl returns to Lenzman's label The North Quarter with his most accomplished and wide-armed bodies of work so far. Taking us on a trip through his influences and widescreen musical vision, the album stretches from full-on technoid D&B ('Hard Times') to bubbling, twisted funk ('Werk It') via smouldering, unclassifiable dark soul ('Ride Or Die') and dreamy breakbeats ('Standing By') With many other sides to his sound revealed throughout, this is an exceptional and very impressive album.

Doctor Jeep & Hedchef - "Hammerhead" - (5:25) 132 BPM
Review: Longtime friend of Worst Behavior, Doctor Jeep, drops the electrifying "Deep Red" EP, showcasing his signature versatility and collaborative spirit. This NYC-based producer, known for his dancefloor-igniting beats and genre-bending explorations, delivers a diverse sonic journey across four tracks. "Deep Red" kicks things off with the infectious title track, a collaboration with UK artist Grove. Grove's punk-infused energy and appreciation for soundsystem culture merge seamlessly with Doctor Jeep's production prowess, resulting in a head-turning banger. Further collaborations unfold with Australian producer Hedchef, known for his off-kilter club constructions. "I'm Rushing" blends breakbeat rave energy with a futuristic twist, guaranteed to keep bodies moving with its rolling grooves and wonky basslines. In "Hammerhead," Doctor Jeep pays homage to his Brazilian heritage by weaving Brazilian vocals with electro elements and a sparse, heavy beat reminiscent of club and grime influences. Next, Doctor Jeep delves into halftime territory with "Destroyer," a collaboration with Canadian producer Tamarak. The track builds slowly and deliberately, layering intricate techy breaks and percussion over a minimal soundscape. To close this EP, "Deep Red," receives a dubstep makeover courtesy of J:Kenzo. This high-energy remix transforms the original into a driving jungle and drum & bass beast. A genre-bending cracker here!

All I Know (feat Snowy - original mix) - (2:32) 132 BPM
Always (feat Notion - original mix) - (4:18) 130 BPM
Review: As one of Bristol's brightest dubwise sparks, it's always exciting to see Drone return to action, this time around unloading a full length album project, courtesy of the legendary 1985 imprint. In short, it's a masterful display of sonic development, from the slower, more grungy introductory squelches of 'Cyclone' through to the face-melting synth swipes of 'Burnt Lungs' and grime drum-skips of 'The Swamp'. From start to finish, this project showcases Drone's innate ability to to deliver high energy originals, both solo and in collaboration with the likes of Alix Perez, Deft, Snowy, Emz & Nah Eerto. Our highlights have to include the juke-driven carnage of 'Jugtown' alongside Hyroglifics, which packs an energetic slap, next to the euphoric embrace of 'Always' which sees Notion join the party for a lively link up. Overall, pure awesomeness!

Ghost - (4:22) 132 BPM
Review: After a brief hiatus, we are thrilled to see the return of the one and only Dismantle, one of the most unique producers to emerge from the UK in the last decade, who here unleashes a tidy pair of breaksy monsters. We open up with 'Street Knowledge', a euphoric slalom through intricate rhythmic pockets, system-busting sub pulses and groovy moog melodies, all fusing together to give us a very enjoyable original indeed. On the flip-side to this, we take in something a little bit different as the more enigmatic arrangement ideas of 'Ghost Stations' are pushed forward, focussing on unusual delay effects and more potent sub work. This is quite a departure from the usual zone in which we would expect to see Dismantle operating, but boy is it effective!

Review: And so the remix rampage continues... Noisia hit the fourth volume of their 'Resonance' collection with an allstar cast of talents ranging from established pioneers like Futurebound and Audio to younger trailblazers like Ternion Sound and MISSIN. As you'd expect, the vibes hit thick and fast as each remixer brings their best game. Highlights include Gyrofield's haunting, near-medieval twist on 'Banshee', Forbidden Society returning to the collection with a smouldering, swaggering roller, Burr Oak's turbulent happy-slapping tech tear-up of 'Stigma' and MACHINEN's industrial strength take on 'Hand Gestures'. All this and so much more, Noisia manage to whip up world beating albums even after they've split up.

Review: Next up from Stones Taro, a dive into a much more UK-funky inspired pocket as NC4K hold a real party across this wicked new four tracker. We begin with the Raggamuffin mix of 'Got Funk', a drum-heavy twitch through pulsating synth drives and groove-inspiring rhythms, followed closely by the much heavier kick drum stomps and subtle breaksy chops of 'Non Sticky'. After the first two, it's clear that the energy levels are super high, with the scattered bass drones and skippy percussion of '5th Way' then continuing that theme, before the title track 'Stoned Camel gives us some more laid back energy for a floaty finale.

First up, 'Underground', a crunchy combination of high octane drum processing, 2-step themes and smooth sub work, giving us a high energy introduction before 'DRLO2HGT' gives us a potent bass thump to follow up. Next, 'Listen' dives back into the old school side of UKG production, with more impactful drumwork being met by catchy vocal shops and sizzling sub action below, before 'Marshas Champerz' deploys a more dungeon-like dubstep feeling, giving the EP an ominous feeling to close.

We open up with the shimmering soundscapes and delight synth designs of 'Nowhere To Look', a creeping emotive epic that despite having a slightly slower tempo, sets the tone perfectly. Next, the more mysterious drips of 'Glock' and the grime-inspired synthesiser slides of 'Rezolve' are whisked into play, showcasing the incredible versatility of
Ourman. Finally, 'Danz' gives us a smooth sweep through choppy instrumental flutters, closing off this frankly outstanding project in style.

Lotus Children - (4:33) 130 BPM
Review: It's finally landed! Justin Hawkes lays down an almighty statement in the form of his debut album 'Existential'. Written during lockdown and his recent rise to the very top of the line-ups on his stateside stomping ground, this epic collection captures an exciting moment in time for both Justin and international drum & bass. Ranging from out-and-out universal underground bangers like 'Black Bloc', 'Cadence' and 'Inheritance' to more commercial, mainstream US tinged moments like the EDM-heavy 'Passion' and the country-tastic 'Better Than Gold', this is the full widescreen snapshot of where Justin is at and what he stands for. We can't wait to see where he takes things next as US D&B hits more and more new heights.

Review: The team over at Lost City Archive really do know how to polish a box of gems, with this latest four track offering from MBERE representing a very forward thinking look at the rapidly rising genre of new school breaks. We open up with '96' flex, a monstrous combination of booming 808 pulses, choppy drum doubles and catchy breaks, followed by the more moody sub designs and distant vocal delays of 'Pressure'. The vibe then switches to a more UKG-sentric feel as 'moody bass tints and floating backing vocals match up with a real spooky feel, before 'Burner' closes the EP out in warbling style.

Review: Following an appearance on a COD3 QR compilation last year, Works Of Intent returns to Laurent Garnier and Scan X's label with a full album. Richer Sound see the UK producer redraw big room techno in style. The title track evolves from rickety drums into blaring sirens, while "You Should" and "VHS" are dark break beat workouts. There's another side to Works Of Intent's canon; the swirling synths of "Fully Focused" and "The Colour of It" both sound like his versions of Detroit techno, albeit ones that have been channelled through the producer?s distinctive, epic sound. Meanwhile, Works Of Intent explores a more European take on electronic music on the widescreen electro of "Winning Dulls The Pain".

Review: As always with Neil Landstrumm, we are about to take a dive into the widened realms of electronic creativity, with this new LP giving us 10 unique adventures to dive head first into. From the super moogy synth work of the introductory 'The 93 Wanabe' to the super abstract pad and percussive combos of 'DROOP' and mind-melting sub squeals of 'POPCORN', it's safe to say there wouldn't be a box big enough anywhere to confine this project into. Our standouts across the full ten tracks include both the shuffling, garage-like drum arrangements and somewhat-spicy vocal samples of 'BRIAN HARV 140' and of course the hypnotic melodies and warping bass sweeps of 'After XL'. Top work once again from a true electronic music legend.

Review: Well following on from a number of impressive dubstep events across the full spectrum of the scene, The Deep Heads team have matched that all with this incredible new compilation as they deliver the third edition of their incredible 'Deep Heads' series. This star-studded lineup is pretty breath-taking, with the likes of Kromestar, Biome, Om Unit, Sukh Knight, Synkro & more all delivering some serious bassweight. The tracklisting is made up of 24 wicked originals, with our favourites actually coming from some of the lesser established faces on the project. These include the likes of Mystic State's sumptuous 'Society' original alongside Astrid, which boasts serious 'Anti-Social' vibes. As well as this, the more stripped back, garage influenced drums of Clubroot's 'Harmony' and dancing percussion of 'Traps' from Escapism Refuge also sit as highlight picks for us!
