F4DE EP 1985 Music

Few producers have carved out a production signature as twisted and unique as Monty, and the Toulouse-based artist is back on his home imprint of 1985 with another absolute percy of an EP. It's just as diverse as the others, and F4DE moves from jagged dancefloor rollers through to dubstep destruction and deep, distinct liquid sounds. The title tune smacks of previous conquest 'Quest', and its hugely complex array of interlocked sounds ooze sophistication in a manner that's befitting its clubland persona. 'Righteous' is a monster of a 140 track and you can smell the blood from the off, as a foreboding introduction leads you down the path of no return, straight into the belly of the beast. More minimal force follows on 'SVP' feat. Icicle, before two liquid cuts round off the lineup; we especially love the deliberate, purposeful bassline of 'Whatever You Need'. Sensational.

Yoofee

Seek & Move Albion Collective

As ever, the consistency and A&R skillsets of the Albion Collective team ring very true in this one as we are greeted by Yoofee, who delivers three system ready chompers. We begin with the vibrant rhythmic displays and colourful drum skips of 'Seek & Move', a throwback, marching goliath. Next, 'Janker' arrives with a much more demonic vibe, combining gnarly sub punches with eerie, high ended melodic flutters to really unleash those devilish tones. Finally, 'Make You Believe' gives us one hell of a finale, combining delicate ascending arpeggiators with shuffling drums and molten subs below. A wicked selection to say the least!

Killa's Army / Xl Mad

Badman Ting Numa Recordings

What a link-up we have here as long-standing collaborators Numa Recordings & Killa's Army link up with XL Mad for a sizzling new creation entitled 'Badman Ting'. As always, Killa's army provides a grizzly selection of vocal additions, over the top of XL Mad's moody instrumental. Although this one is rendered at a slightly slower pace, it loses no energy whatsoever. The project also comes with a fiery addition, entitled 'Ago 'I Got Remix', which takes the original vocal and ups the speed to a more traditional 140 arrangement, coupled with a sneaky instrumental behind, laced with a mystic guitar line and yet more powerful bass work. This is a wicked two tracker, to say the least.

Saanen

Rukkus EP 786 Recordings

The 786 Recordings team have unearthed yet another gem with this tidy new Saanen drop. The project as a whole, explores the more experimental, dubwise infused side of dubstep, with the eerie atmospheric pressure and jittery shakers of 'Ghouls' kicking us off to a hell of a start. Next, the clunky drum shuffles and lethal subs of 'Ruckus' supply us with some additional fire before the unorthodox drum rhythms and metallic synthesis of 'Told Ya' gives us a bite of something a little bit different. Finally, DPRTNDRP & 3WA give 'Ruckus' a chunky rework, focussing on scattered drum beats and lethal LFO expressions to round the project off with a bit of a bang. Great stuff!

Play Dem Tune EP eatmybeat

The team over at eatmybeat have definitely picked up the habit of formulating top quality releases packages, with each new drop keeping us on the edge of our seat. This brand new selection from BunZer0 is certainly a spicy collection, kicking off with 3 system-ready instrumental creations. First up, we have the marching drums and steppers-style horn lines of 'All The Massive', chased up by the much more mysterious drum arrangements and space-like laser shots of 'Play Dem Tune'. From here, 'Meditation' rounds off the originals with a groovy selection of percussive power and intricate melodies, before we move into two wicked remixes. Firstly, the crunchy drum slaps and sliced up horn manoeuvres of Dutchie's 'All The Massive' rethink hit home with a bang, before Chad Dubz gives 'Play Dem Tune' a dungeon-ready rethink. Awesome stuff!

Modeselektor

Extended Monkeytown Germany

It's a well-known fact at this point that Modeselektor remains one of the most unique and interesting electronic acts currently out there. This album, entitled 'Extended' is a perfect showcasing of that commitment to exploring the unexpected, with each and every track offering us something a little bit unexpected, from the unusual rhythmic approaches of 'Keller' and 'Cthulhu Drums', through to the intense, metallic synthesizer pulses of 'Mean' and spacious soundscaping of 'Disc'. It's a full-on journey through production mastery in our eyes, with our individual favourite tracks including 'Bilbao' with its a combination of synthetic harmonics and unique percussion, along with stunning landscapes and harmonic designs of 'Lockdown', which sits majestically as one of our favourite synth pieces so far this year. Incredible work!
