Review: Dan Lodig and Martin Sovinz aka /DL/MS/ have spent the past few years putting out futuristic electro Eps on Trust, Frustrated Funk and Lodig's own Pomelo imprint. Now they unveil a diverse vision for the project on their debut album, Calanhi. Moving in tone from the outer space blips and synths of "Calanhi Part 1" and "Part 2", the duo veer into the acid-soaked electro of "Mountains" and "Syclla" before progressing into stripped back, techno of "Divide & Conquer". "Trusted Funk" sees the duo deploy a noisier approach, while "Buclandia" is a stunning piece of electronic music - sounding like it was beamed in from the future.

Review: Next up from International Chrome, a tidy dive into the sounds of $ombi with this wicked new single 'Wellen', stacked up alongside a tasty box of remixes to match. The original track sees smooth french vocal textures lead the way as the rap-driven vibe of the track is assisted by moogy bass pulses and throwback drum designs. Remix wise, there is an immediate standout as DBridge delivers his 'Surging' remix, turning the track into an electrifying half-time trip, with Jensen's 'Interceptor' remix then giving us a high energy juke overhaul, focussing on skippy cowbell switch ups and tidy rhythmic displays. Finally, the acidic glitchiness of the Yazzus remix sees the collection out with a bang, rounding off a very unique collection of sonic outings indeed.

Review: Ukonx has put on an impressive series of underground electro release, and the latest addition to its fold, 0=3, builds on the French label's strong heritage. The title track opens the EP in an ominous mood, with a growling bass and lumbering drums providing the platform for nightmarish synths to sweep and swirl around. "A Single Grain" is rooted in a similar approach, with 0=3 layering brooding synth lines over a bruising rhythm and splurging low end, while the stargazing melodies on "The Polygon" soundtrack a trip into deeper, more esoteric territory. In contrast, "Skin Trap" is very much rooted on terra firma thanks to its crisp drums and sharp percussion.

Review: Next up on Lost Palms is 1-800 Girls aka Jake Stewart. Dancing is an atmospheric affair that is sure to appeal to fans of more esoteric techno. "3am Central Line" opens the release with a gentle, stepping groove and squelchy acid lines, while in a similar style is "Latin Tongue": the 303s have been replaced with breathy, billowing synths, but the punchy drums remain. On "Don't Wanna Stop", Stewart ups the tempo to deliver rolling break beats, but they deliver jazzy keys, while the EP concludes with "Minds Nature", an evocative piece of music that has echoes of 90s ambient.

Review: With releases on labels like CPU, Frustrated Funk and Lunar Disko in his catalogue, it was only a matter of time before 214 aka Chris Roman put out a full EP for Cultivated Electronics. This four-tracker is a no-nonsense, dance-floor primed electro release. On "Linoleum and Cardboard", Roman lays down steely 808s and a stark rhythm, while "It Never Really Ends" sees him add some warbling acid to this approach. "Earthwroms" ups the pace and intensity levels, with shrieking riffs unravelling over a peak-time groove that calls to mind Rotters Golf Club. Rounding off 214's first full release on the reverend UK label is the sci-fi funk of "Nocturnal Hikes".

Review: Straight up electro mainstay 214 returns to Klakson with Around The Bend, an EP that's no doubt looking to the future of post lockdown. Tailored by an upbringing on Frustrated Funk and ties to labels like Shipwrec, Lunar Disko, Central Processing Unit and 20:20 Vision, 214's Klakson cuts have always been classic. Keeping it super beat-centric and percussive on the drums the whole EP-through, get your overt Drexciyan motifs outta the lead cut with acid trips of splendour to be had in "Mosquito Bay". Grubbier sessions with subtle LFO aka Warp-style synths on loop make the cut in "Perfect Circuit" next to some edgy riffs and hardcore basslines in "Take Away". Quality.
