Anubis - (5:51) 153 BPM

Rave Me Hard - (6:24) 150 BPM Hot
Review: Batten down the hatches, Golpe is back with a hard techno release that takes no prisoners. The title track unfolds at a high tempo. Powered by a soaring, brooding bass and intense metallic drums, these elements unravel over a relentless rhythm. On "High Point", Golpe ramps up the intensity levels. Powered by incessant hi hats and a pounding groove, he adds in chopped up vocal samples. It lends some clue that there is a human responsible for the resultant peak-time banger. Unsurprisingly, "Rave Me Hard" isn't for the faint-hearted either. Based on a galloping rhythm, it sees Golpe pepper the arrangement with a repetitive siren riff and deadly effective builds and drops.

Noemi Black - "Long Trip" (original mix) - (5:30) 148 BPM
Review: Following the Mad Mate compilation series, Noemi Black drops a solo EP. Anchored in the contemporary techno sound, Hit The Club also makes nods to the past. This combination of factors is audible on "Hit It", where a rolling rhythm is fused with rave riffs that recall hardcore classics like T99's "Anasthasia". Both "Fire In Your Body" and "Long Trip" also make references to 90s dance music. This time however, it's the trance sound, as epic melodies unfold over siren riffs and pounding drums. Label owner SveTec also weighs in with a remix of "Hit It", adding snare rolls and fat kicks that teeter on the brink of distortion.

Review: Bas Mooy's label drops its most adventurous release yet. Paul Birken has been operating at the fringes of techno for years and puts out the kind of rough analogue music that would make the industrial art school boys shiver with fear. Distorted drums, intense and in your face volleys of percussion set the scene on this three-tracker. "Big Rig Barnacle" displays some musical leanings via its woozy chords and "Funnel Fiends" goes the opposite way thanks to its acid emissions. But the best thing about Birken is his sheer unpredictability and "Repeat Offender" sounds like a hard techno arrangement pulled apart, distorted to the max and then randomly reassembled.

Review: Greven's Tobias Leuke aka O.B.I is one hardcore dude! Keeping on with Germany's notorious 'Schranz' sound, this album is not for the faint of heart. More for those who hunger for the old days of 140 BPM techno that Chris Liebing smashed out back in the day. Thing is: these tracks are more around the 150 BPM mark, so handle with care! This album is for digital hardcore freaks out of Barcelona Audiocode, a fitting home. Highlights include: "Deep Integration" which sounds like Mark Broom/Rue East circa 2001 on steroids, "Block Rocking Beat" is absolutely ferocious and sounding like classic Ben Sims on performance enhancing drugs while "Source Of Creation" is the most violent offering; clocking in at around 154 BPM this is pushing the threshold towards gabber territory!

Review: As far as contemporary techno is concerned, it doesn't get much harder and heavier than UK outfit AnD. "Fierce", which kick-starts this release on Perc Trax, demonstrates that they have taken inspiration from 90s minimalists like Space DJz and Bandulu, with screeching riffs unfolding over a 140 bpm track. That said, it runs the risk of sounding mellow when compared to "Detonate", which climbs to gabba peaks to rain down acid hellfire on the unsuspecting listener. "Illusions" is back at a less frenetic pace, but despite this, its distorted drums lend it just as much intensity. Closing the release is "Where Are You Going To Take Me"; clearly the answer is that AnD intends to bring the listener to a place where broken industrial beats underpin bursts of electronic noise.

I Hate Models - "Martial Order" - (7:06) 136 BPM
Scalameriya - "Hellzone Megapunk" - (4:52) 132 BPM
Review: What a year it's been for Perc Trax. The label's long-term championing of harder-edged techno has paid off, with the roster starting to get wider recognition. Manni Dee's contribution to this year in review compilation is the pounding techno of "Gulabi Gang", which comes close to 140bpm and features wild screeches and howls. Scalameriya, another artist championed by the label, drops three tracks that characterise this tough techno sound; "Crucible" is a straight up sheet metal banger, while on "Slobodna" he opts for a noisy industrial approach and "Hellzone Megapunk" is an ear bleed-inducing pounder. I Hate Models is the artist most likely to make the big break though, as the pile-driving acid of "Spreading Plague" and the break beat-led "Martial Order" demonstrate.

Exploit Me I'm Yours - (4:58) 137 BPM
Review: Perc Trax provided the platform for one of Manni Dee's biggest breakthrough tracks, "London Isn't England", and he returns to the label to deliver another peak-time EP. "The Wolves" revolves around a bruising industrial rhythm that underpins aggro vocals and hardcore hoover riffs. On "Do As They Don't", Dee ups the pace and the pitch of his vocal samples, with a Pinky'n'Perky-style vocal loop set to pummelling, steely kicks. Maintaining this approach on "Exploit Me, I'm Yours", Dee keeps the intensity up by delivering a pulverising drum track that sees the levels pushed firmly into the red.

Review: Kobosil's label delivers the third edition of the Sektion compilation. As with previous volumes, there are well-known contributors. OBU and Krl Mx both deliver slamming industrial techno on "Wir Sind Die Nacht" and "Techno Tool For Trashkids" respectively. In Verruf opts for a different approach. On "Frei", soaring synths combine with screeching vocals, making for an epic, rousing affair.
There are also some newer contributors. These include Warin D, who drops the gabba-influenced banger "I Apologize For My Acid" and SZG, whose "Parametric" integrates tranced out synths into a pulsating, throbbing groove. Like every release on R-Label Group, each track on Sektion 3 is sure to cause dance floor mayhem.

Review: Lockdown. What Lockdown. Pretty much the message here from the very literal Definition Of Hard Techno. More like a breakout LP for the end of days rave in Zion, this various artist extravaganza turns in a multicast of industrially hazardous, malavelonet techno bangers. Take your pick; from the outlandish Berghain wares of Champas & RWGK "No Mercy" to the filter heavy antics of V.A.RR's "Terrible Minds" - this compilation sets its tone to unforgiving and most punishing.

With a shared love of rave culture, the label is a platform for the forward-thinking, while simultaneously paying homage to foundations of techno. Its next release comes from Trym and label head Amelie Lens; expect to hear the storming peak time trance energy of "Trinity" on a main room dancefloor very soon - if you surely haven't already. Lens takes up the reins next on her powerful peak time techno remix which will have you reaching for the lasers, and there's one more euphoric dancefloor journey to lose yourself to under the strobe lights in the form of "Beyond Light".

Review: To celebrate15 years in business, Distorted Robocops' label delivers an expansive compi-lation. It ranges in sound and intensity from the busy break beats of Type Zero & Di Arty's "Pumpkin & Bunny" and the rolling, noisy techno of Type Zero's solo tracks "The Siren", "The Loop" and "Driving Me Crazy" to more fun contributions like "Give It Up" which is a hard dance version of the sample-heavy track of the same name by the Goodmen. At the darker end of Alien Technology's hard dance sound is Neptun44, whose "Untitled" is turned into a distorted, jacking workout by Di Arty. That Alien Technology can continue to surprise and entertain after 15 years is testament to its uniquely varied approach.

Review: Marking its third birthday, Maison Close drops a new compilation. Previous split releases on the French imprint have tended towards the harder end of the techno spectrum, and VA004 very much inhabits this space. Swooh's "Long Way" revolves around a lean, acid-soaked rhythm that veers into robust break beats, while on "This Is Not A Love Song", The Chronics also demonstrate an inventive approach. Wrapping breathy vocal samples and tranced out melodies into a peak-time groove, it underlines Maison Close's support of emerging techno strains. That said, VA004 isn't short of bona fide club bangers, including Dahlia's ebm-fuelled "Assassin" and the frenetic tech-trance of DJ Hyperdrive's "Aura Synthesis".

Review: Here we have a very exciting new label venture, which takes the name of Kaotik Hypnotic, a team that are seemingly ready to take the techno world by storm, as they here unveil their first official drop from David LaFhionntain. The title track 'Unholy Riot' is an absolute blitz of intense, pulsating drum smashes and high tempo 4x4 rhythms, soaking in distorted bass energies throughout. Next, the nostalgic hardcore themes of 'Survival Rate' race into earshot, chased up by the breaks shimmers and underground vibes of 'Bring Out The Dead'. Finally, the big room drums of 'Battling The Void' wrap this one up in timely fashion with a touch of tech finesse. Don't sleep on this one!
