Review: Some music just doesn't fall into any category, with this current release on the peerless Editions Mego certainly being of that disposition. Proposing a near 40 minutes of disemboweled noises, glitchy static and haunting tonalities, Sweden's BJ Nilsen and Stilluppsteypa create their own world - one which is far from our own. "Goda Nott 1" is a long journey into outer space, with its howling drones and meticulous sonics growing and then dissipating uncontrollably. The second excursion into the ether, "Goda Nott 2", although comparatively brighter than the first segment, still refuses to find its way out of the long and obscure tunnel built by the Swedish duo. Growling melodies and long, polyphonic trips make this release perfectly fit for a Stanley Kubrick film. Captivating noise collections.

Review: It's another magic moment of old school vs new school on this fine collaboration between no wave legend Stuart Argabright AKA Black Rain and man of the moment Nino Pedone AKA Shapednoise, on his own Cosmo Rhythmatic imprint. "Metal Home" merges Argabright's screeching guitar feedback with the shredding white noise so typical of Pedone. "Autonomous Lethality" has Shapednoise all over it with its relentless body bashing bass frequencies. Miles Whittaker delivers an absolutely mental reshape of "Interceptor" like only he can before we're presented with the original version, which is equally as intense in its own right. Shapednoise's unmistakeable white wash of distortion merges with Argabright's dark atmospherics so perfectly. Not for the faint of heart!

Review: It really seems like the Greeks are having their moment in electronic music at the moment. With imprints like PAN and Nous Disques being the more obvious ones leading the charge, Modal Analysis are definitely the crew representing the fiercer and brutalist shades of techno. That being said, the shadowy Sawf has been around quite a while now, releasing industrial edged techno a few years back on Perc Trax, but it's rather fitting that he finds a home on this emerging Athens label. Starting off with the harsh guitar feedback drone of "Sonic 1", he then provides us with the dark and haunting soundscape of "Sonic 2" that you could imagine playing on the revised soundtrack of Hellraiser; it's terrifying! "Sonic 3" finally gets things into full swing on this driving techno tool with an entrancing arpeggiated melody and a fuzzy and dangerous refrain from a megaphone, repeated intermittently. Finally "Sonic 4" pummels us once more with an industrial noise workout that sounds like it is emerging from the depths of hell itself. One for the real freaks!
