Club Cowgirl

Club Cowgirl is a house music label, started by DJ and producer Scarlett O'Malley. The West London born and bred music obsessive started Club Cowgirl originally as a party, having taken over stages at Glastonbury, Queens Yard Summer Party, Ministry of Sound and taking the brand to the talks tent at We Out Here to talk about what it's like to be working class in the music industry. That is another faction of the label, to shine a light on working class creatives in the industry and to be a base for the community it looks to empower. This has come in the form of panel talks, guestmixes and podcasts. Club Cowgirl also finds it's home on Rinse FM with a monthly show, with a focus on new and underground dance music.

Lady Of The House

Officially launched in 2020, the UK-based organization Lady Of The House was first introduced to the world via an epic, large-scale hardback book that celebrates over 150 women DJs, Producers, Artists, Promoters, and Management who have made a lasting impact on the global dance music scene.

Since its publication, however, Lady Of The House has shown us that they are much more than a book — they are a community and multifunctional platform that strives to champion and empower women in the music industry far and wide. In addition to organizing exhibitions, discussions, and showcases at conferences and festivals worldwide, LOTH has established a music label to serve as a pipeline for emerging talent — giving female and non-binary artists an outlet and a network of music industry experts.

Lady Of The House is wholly committed to ensuring that women who work in dance music receive the recognition they deserve. As proof of this, LOTH has just launched as a Community Interest Company (CIC) — with plans to roll out a whole host of coaching, mentoring, training, advice, and support programs/workshops for non-binary and gender-marginalized people in the music business.

Ruffneck Ting is a Bristol based jungle club that has been an integral partof the jungle and dnb music scene for three decades.

The club was founded in 1993 by DJ Dazee and Markee Ledge, who met by chance as house- sharing ravers but soon found their musical calling as Dj’s and producers, united by their passion for the emerging sound of jungle music. Since then, Ruffneck Ting has been suppor ted and nurtured by a growing loyal crew including Knowledge Magazine’s founders and dedicated jungle fans around the globe. Along the way, it has become known for its commitment to promoting new talent, with many up- and- coming DJs, producers and MC’s getting their first break at Ruffneck Ting.

The warm and friendly jungle vibes that started on Bristol dance floors in 93, evolved onto wax in 1995 with the launch of Ruffneck Ting Records which helped take the sound to new worldwide audiences. Now with over 300 releases and artists like Serum, Jinx, Kjah, Verdikt, Saxxon of course Dazee contributing to the catalogue, the label has achieved a string of DL number ones and support from the scene’s biggest players.

Since its early exposure with Dazee and Jakes shows on Bristol Pirate Stations, Ruffneck Ting has continued to boldly broadcast its jungle- jump- up hybrid sound. The club features in a now infamous 1996 documentary aired on HTV “Sounds Of The West” alongside Roni Size, Krust, and Smith and Mighty and has featured on BBC Radio 1, 1xtra, BBC Radio 6, Ministry of Sound, Kool FM, SWU FM & UKF.
