Review: To add to their incredibly versatile catalogue, the 1Forty crew are back in business, entering 2023 with a vibrant exploration into bassline's current motives, unleashing four original skankers on their 8th 'Bass' compilation. First up, The Illustration joins forces with Breeza for a rave-ready singalong, linking otherworldly synth lines with catchy vocal toasting, before the ever-ready J69 let's fly a serious warbler in 'Letter To 09', paying homage to the niche-inspired sounds that came before. From here, Dark Moon arrives with a slightly slower slap in 'Transmit', a grizzly metallic crunch, fusing gnarly bass squelches with low pitched vocal overlays, before Matt Brockman gives us a killer closer in 'Luv U Like', focussing on eerie vocal chops and steadily rising bass manoeuvres. Lovely stuff!

Review: One thing we absolutely love about the 1Forty crew is the fact that they will constantly alternate their genre approach, working between bass, garage, grime and dubstep and always pulling incredible collaborations out the bag. We open up with the gnarly synthetic twists and hard hitting vocal arrangements of 'Informa', which sees the enigmatic combinations of Hayz & Josef team up with the legendary Killa P with hard hitting results. Next, Murder He Wrote & Logan team up to forge together a rave-ready weapon, stopped in old school toybox style synths and shuffling drum patterns, before Warwick sends us back into a wave of nostalgia with bubbling melodics toots and grimey bass expressions of 'Redux'. Finally, Fork And Knife makes his return to the label with a spicy box of fun in 'Dune', linking harsh horn stabs with vibrant percussive bites for a wavy closer!

Review: It's that time of the year again as 1Forty roam back into the realms of Funky & UKG with four summer-ready rumblers, jam-packed with bubbling flavour from start to finish. We open up with a starboy combination as Gemi provides the backdrop for Snowy's high energy vocal displays on 'Answer', a party-starting creation, perfect for festival season with some serious sing-along vibes, all wrapped in Gemi's scorching UKG arrangement below. From here, we dive into the depths of bassy abandon as 'Sequencing' sees Arma unleashing a pulsating display of snare-driven rhythm and gnarly sub pulses, before the constantly shifting reese-lines of Edward White's 'London City' are let loose to cause chaos in the dance. Finally, Richard Wright arrives for an old school induction on 'Trust Meh', a bulbous fusion of tight drum processing, rave-lifted vocal samples and dizzying subs below, all working together for a fabulous finale. Lovely stuff!

Review: It's been a hot minute since we last saw the super consistent 1Forty crew make a foray into the realms of bass music, with this most recent V/A being another solid example of just how well they understand the sound. We begin with a potent link up as Forca joins the sounds of the legendary DJ Pantha on 'Reload', giving us a serious dosage of original niche 4x4 energy, doused in nostalgia and high energy vocal runs, before the jittering chords and sweeping LFO pulses of The Phat Controlla's 'You're Mine'. The energy levels only increase as we then move forward, with J69 providing some dancefloor heat with the bubbling melodies of 'Take It Back', followed by a wizzy outro track from Lil Milly & Manny Mashup, letting loose a barrage of lethal synthesizer pulses on 'The Steppa'.

Review: Across their now extensive catalogue of genre-based releases, we always get the most excited for the grime drops as label owner Lockt gets busy putting together some fiery collaborations. First up, 1Forty regular Hayz arrives with a nostalgic grimey roller, topped by the legendary Roachee and super hard hitting Armour, who arrive with a ballistic vocal performance for 'Link With Dem'. This intro sets the levels high, but is still matched by Fork & Knife, who is joined by Jon E Clayface for a secondary showcase of grizzly grime energy on 'Come Correct'. Both of the vocals are lethal, but that's not all that's in the bag as Hayz then returns with the eastern inspired melodic twists and rave-ready synth work of 'Kyoto'. Finally, Josef supplies with uniquely produced sizzler in 'Shining', rounding off another very impressive body of work from the 1Forty crew!

Review: When we explore the masterfully crafted catalogue that 1Forty find themselves sitting on, it's hard to imagine them ever dropping the ball. This sixth edition of their Funky & Garage compilation series is another straight success story, as the smooth vocal presence of the one and only Lyrical Strally teams up with the highly underrated UKG designs of Kobe JT for the party-starting vibes of 'On My Way'. This is followed closely by DJ Ayy Den & Murder He Wrote joining forces for a tidy collaboration in 'Pressure Dip', which again pushes the sonic boundaries one step further. The Phat Controlla then arrives with a typical display of brilliance as 'IMSONORF' lights up the room with fluttering chord progressions and charming drum pulses, before Ronnie Loko signs us out with an intense, drum-heavy creation by the name of 'Kingdom Power'. Awesome work as per from all involved!
Review: As always with the fabulous sounds of 1Forty, they have treated us to another high profile compilation, with this being the sixth installment of their highly converted 'Bass' series. We kick off with the niche-inspired LFO rolls and crunchy drum switches of Palize & Killa P's sizzling original 'Duppy Them', which most certainly kick-starts the EP with a powerful slap. That old school flavour continues with 'Bap Bap' as J69 provides a super mucky instrumental for Breeza to provide some laid back party-lyricism. We move into two cracking instrumentals next as Burt Cope steps up firstly with the warbling wonders of 'Cellar', giving us a rave-ready feel, before the more tech-influenced bass processing of 'Pure' sees Badger have a fantastic 1Forty debut.

Review: The 1Forty team have kept it as consistent as anyone across the breadth of 2020, despite founder LockT operating pretty much solo throughout the course of the year. He looks to finish things off with a band as the sixth edition of their grime compilation series lands with some serious impact, kicking off with bassline vocal legend Bomma B linking up with Prizma & Muhla for a rave-ready vocal smash in 'Bully Boy'. Next, a killer duo emerges as Hamdi links up with the ever-ready Logan for 'Bun Dem Down', with Hamdi's quirky instrumental design providing another perfect base from which Logan is able to display his vocal mastery. Following that we have two powerful instrumentals as Fork & Knife firstly unleashes the powerful synthetic structures and crunchy drum slaps of 'Reptar', before rounding off on 'Ris Key', a 2-step inspired roller from On1, This is a perfect way to round off the year for a very special project indeed!

Review: The one they called Lockt has done it again with another impeccable compiled genre compilation for the 1Forty imprint as they welcome seven top quality names across four bubbling originals within the fifth edition of the Funky & Garage compilation series. First up, garage heavyweights Sammy Virji & Smokey Bubblin' B combine for 'Santorini', a smooth bubbler, perfect for the BBQ season, followed by the incredibly catchy 'Clouds', which sees Lyrical Strally and Dakota Sixx link up with Higgo for another UKG roller. We then take a dive into the funky side of the EP as PZP firstly unveils a nostalgic bop with 'Undergrowth', combining urgent strings with highly energetic drum lines, before Tyrant calls an end to proceedings with the sweeping vocal lines and marching percussion of 'Piffment'. Lovely work!
Review: For their fifth grime project, the 1Forty team really have gone all out, inviting some of the most popular names in the 140 scene to take part in this monstrous selection of bangers. We begin with Hamdi's 'Raw', a behemoth of a riddim, dripping with vibrant LFO energies and skippy drum structures, closely followed by the lethal steppers link up from 9TRANE and Logan entitled 'Evil Side'. We move back into instrumental madness next as ManGo delivers an old school squarewave explosion entitled 'XO', before YGG leap onto an incredibly energetic piece of production from 'JHuttz' on 'Royals' to round this one off in style.
Review: As far as years go, 2019 was easily the strongest on record for the Leeds based imprint we know as 1Forty. They kick off their 2020 with a serious bang on this one as LockT brings together the cold lyricism of Jon E Clayface and the haunted production of Prizma for a seriously tasty slice of new school grime in 'Cold'. The pair combine in infinite majesty with the spooky atmospheric nature of Prizma's instrumental providing the perfect landscape for Clayface to lay down a stream of hard hitting 16's, and the fantastic results are there for all to see!
Review: 2019 has been a resounding success for the 1Forty imprint, with a fantastic run of releases under their belt across the realms of multiple different genres. Today we check out their last drop of 2019 as they continue their run of funky and garage compilations. Firstly, they bring together both Muder He Wrote and Logan for a tasty roller by the name of 'Worthwhile', before Razor & Hamdi bring down the vocal fire over Retrospects funky infused 'What You Gonna Do'. Next, the vocal flavours and nostalgic chords come to life in Higgo's smooth UKG smash entitled 'Soul 2 Soul' before LR Groove & Dryman conclude proceedings with 'Life Form', a stomping, carnival-ready creation!
Review: It's been a long time coming, but we are very excited to now see the 1Forty imprint dropping their releases through Juno, with this latest compilation project being the latest, showcasing just how strong they have become as a musical imprint and brand. They here return to their grimey, 140BPM roots with four absolute heaters, kicking off with a high energy, war-ready combination between the legendary Killa P and rapidly rising Fork And Knife. Next up, NothingNice arrives on production duty with more heavyweight flavours, over which Dizzle Kid & Killa P provide the vocal artillery before 9TRANE teams up with Fork And Knife for a monstrous 4x4 roller, dripping in OG grime energy. Finally, Hayz takes old school to an entirely new level as he employs super nostalgic synths and melodies over minimal, authentic drum patterns on 'High Top', to put the finishing touches on an awesome selection!

Review: There's been some seriously impressive movements coming out of Leeds of late, as the super popular 1Forty imprint continue their impressive run, this time employing the services of some UK dance music veterans. We see a fantastic combination here as Slay and Trigga join forces over a super skippy 140 sounding instrumental, coming to us courtesy of the man himself: Zed Bias. Overall, this track delivers on so many fronts, with the high energy instrumental providing the perfect base camp from which Slay and Trigga set forth, destined to duppy the dance with intense flows and sharp lyricism.
Review: If there is one thing that the 1Forty team know how to do well, it's assemble a well balanced compilation project. This latest addition to their 'Funky & Garage' series, kicks off with an absolute belter from Murder He Wrote entitled 'Honey Riddim', which features funky flavours and a hard hitting vocal appearance from Snowy. Following this, Killjoy continues with the funky theme with some hard hitting rhythmic movements on 'Disturbance', before Smokey Bubblin' B injects a lashing of garage flavour into proceedings with the stripped back design of 'Brock Out'. Finally, the uplifting arrangements and chord progressions of ''Do Me Right' from Wolfe puts the finishing touches on a great body of work.

Review: The guys at 1Forty have had an excellent showing across 2018, with a multitude of explosive festival appearances, well received releases and new artists making them one of the real labels to watch in the new year. They sign out of December with this wicked new four track selection, featuring grimey heaters from the likes of Ali Mck, J Huttz, Arridim and Afterhours on production, alongside cracking vocal appearances from Lyrical Strally & KDot to add some additional spice. It's always pleasing to see underground labels pursuing different genre avenues, and 1Forty show no signs of slowing down whatsoever.
Review: 1Forty set up here to continue their exceptional run during throughout 2018 by bringing together an exciting collection of artists for the second edition of their 'Funky & Garage' season. Having been previously premiered on the new Threethousand website, we see Killjoy and Smokey 'Bubblin B' lead the way with the super groovy 'Voices In My Head' alongside Shantie and the old school pulse rolls of 'Where's Larry'. We also get gifted a breaksy funky fusion as 9TRANE and Arridim team up on 'Plazma', whilst Cardinal Sound round off an awesome selection with 'Ayy', a carnival special set to turn any dance to a bruckout.
Review: As a movement, 1Forty has been seriously impressive since it's conception, consistently putting together impactful releases across both grime and bass. This four track compilation comes as their second in the bass criteria, featuring some serious stormers. We kick off with Sammy Virji's prized wobbler 'Punctuation' before dipping into the lethal growling reeses of Arridim's 'Pirate Radio'. Following this we roll into 'Your Booty', a skippy stuttered dancefloor mauler from Spectrum before rounding off the EP in style as Odd Nature steps forward for 'Battle', a real 4x4 speaker rattler.
