Review: Just like the summer rain soon turns into a vibrant rainbow, the tracks on the new album by Ronny Mollenhauer aka Mollono.Bass give expression to the three primary colors of his soul. With vocals by I Am Halo and Kuoko, plus instrumentation provided by jPattersson, Marc Vogler and other musicians, you will definitely hear the frequencies of friendship on 'Woods, Tales & Friends' - a collection of tracks by the 3000 Grad boss and his friends over the last few years. All are testament to his versatile musical talent, such as the glassy-eyed and pop-inflected vocal deep house of "No Silence", or on the ominous journey into the exotic that is "Wild River" as well as the hypnotic dancefloor drama of "The Glade" to name but a few.
Review: Taster Peter aka Pietro Marsili has released on esteemed labels like Trapez and Upon You - now he turns his attention to 3000 for his latest missive. Featuring call-to-prayer samples and evocative sound scapes playing out over a ramshackle groove, the title track is a wonderfully ex-pansive minimal house affair. Similarly on "Oracle", the Italian producer carves out an evocative sound, with a rumbling bass underpinning or-ganic, shuffling drums, brittle percussion and psychedelic synth washes. Both tracks are forward-facing explorations of minimal house - and not even the throbbing Mollono Bass take on "Desert Night" and the pared back Elfenberg version of "Oracle" can eclipse them.
Review: Bavaria's Renga Weh is back, he is a promising young producer on the German scene who has appeared on Manual Music, Astrowave and Phuture Wax in recent times. Wustrow's 3000 Grad have now caught wind of him and present his new bass-driven tech house cut. Imagine a mist that hovers over a stretch of standing water, making visible the warming rays of the early morning sun. It's a perfectly calm moment, yet a moment that is in constant change - both very meditative and stimulating. That's exactly the intricate system of thoughts and emotions that is generated by his track "Salewa".
Review: 3000 Grad stands for an organic style of modern electronic music, and their label is one of the many projects of the 3000Grad artist collective from Mecklenburg - in the scenic north of Germany. What began as an underground party operation in 1997 has developed into 3000Grad Records (plus its sister label Acker Records), a booking agency, the annual 3000Grad Festival, as well as various indoor events. And that's what you'll hear on this compilation: one big journey as a series of shimmering bits and pieces. The rhythms and melodies of One World - One Future reflect what made their hearts flutter during these past months: 14 tracks that breathe life into your dancing feet as a DJ mix, and that send fantasies soaring to unknown heights as single tunes. Includes recent hits from the label such as Five P's "Atlantis", Kyrill & Redford's "Mondeou" and Renga Weh's "Rumor" (Green Lake Project remix).
Review: Barcelona producer Squire releases his new Turning Points EP via Germany's 3000 Grad Records. Following up top releases on labels such as Get Physical, Rebellion, My Favorite Robot Records, Tenampa, and Parquet Recordings - this new six track EP features the hazy and esoteric "Grassroots" and the tribal raindance of "Panda Girl" - which also receives a terrific remix from label staple Timboletti. While the original version of "Prime Bass" existed as an adrenalised yet slinky tech house groove, the rework provided by duo Mollono.Bass & Marc Vogler provides something more mellow and cerebral - perfect for trancing out with your head down as the sun comes up during the afterhours.
