Review: Put on your poncho and slip into your Birkenstocks, Steve Hillage's System 7 have hooked up with Japanese band Rovo for an album's worth of cosmic enlightenment. In fact, most of Rising features remixes of System 7 material. There's Hillage's own version of "Hinotori", which involves shimmering guitars wrapped around a liquid groove; Dubfire rolls out woodblock beats and tap dripping bleeps for his take on "Space Bird", and Evan Marc also impresses with his skipping rhythm-led interpretation of "Hinotori". Rovo's contributions are in a similarly spacey, laid back vein, albeit more organic-sounding, with the rolling, tribal groove and vocal chants of "Love for the Phoenix" standing out.
