Review: Following his tasty bowl of 'Rice & Spice' on AFT just last month, the one and only Xav returns to Carasel's label AFT with an eye-opening selection of bruisers and bumpers. The ubiquitous Madrush joins the blend on the title track, as Xav flips through the basslines and melts our minds. Dig deeper for a range of jungle flavours as both 'No Focus' flexes around a set of shiny skanks while 'Who Want Me Ganja' settles in for the night with some heavy dub flavours. Finally 'Lion Roar' closes the EP with the biggest jungle blast of the EP. Big vocals, swaggering breaks and a bassline to power the whole of Pilton, Xav's on the money right here.
Review: Fresh from his debut solo single last month, AFT fam Tuskan reveals the full debut EP four-courser, complete with all the trimmings. 'As We Enter' sets the tone with spicy urgency and groaning harmonics, 'Foul Play' is a full hearty main course with a cool sample and a gritty, unruly Q&A riff while 'Send It' is the sweet and squelchy dessert with its funky soggy bottom end. Last but not least 'Beast Reign' slips and slides off your plate with treacle-like charm. Yeah, it's a second dessert because you're greedy for the good stuff and so are we. Bon appetite.
Review: Previously taking us all into "Warp Drive" on AFT - way back in February when the world seemed like a very different place - Ambush family members Dubbz & Oz return with another powerful selection. Two tunes, two vibes: "A Better Way" is a gargantuan stamper laced with big tunnel-like basslines and a hearty swagger. "Chinese Silk" flips for the vibe for a party-ready jump-up piece that bubbles with a Serum-style harmonic riffy bassline. Smooth.
Review: Hazmat suits at the ready: Khemikal returns to AFT and it's pure warfare. "R U Stupid" has you asking yourself some serious questions while shooting you with spiked out laser basses, "Sub Zero" takes you down the foundry and gives you a lesson in how to cut steel with your own teeth while "Watch The Bass" is a lavish, loose-drummed roller with all the sweet psychedelic spirals and deliciously weird FX. You want more concrete melting laser bass stabs? Head on over to "Primrose" a track that stinks a lot more than its floral name suggests. Fire in the hole!
