Review: Starlight were an 80s/early 90s project from South Africa formed by singer/producer Emil Zoghby and arranger, composer and multi-instrumentalist John Galanakis, both of whom already had long careers as session musicians and engineers-for-hire under their belt. They specialised in heavily electronic covers of international disco hits but on this, their 1983 debut album, they chose to focus instead on their own material, with the only cover being a version of 'Picnic' by South African disco stars Sello Mmutung and Keith Hutchinson. If you want to know what African disco would sound like if fused with the then-hip Italo sound, look no further!
