Review: Berlin-based Niklas Wandt follows up some great efforts on Italic, Bureau B and Multi Culti (collaborating with veteran Sascha Funke) with this new one for Melbourne, Australia's Animals Dancing. The cleverly titled "I Wandt To Believe" features four playful cuts: the sunny house shenanigans of "Schlabberwasser" that's awash in an array of shimmering synth sounds underpinned by steel drums, as well as the druggy lo-slung chug of "Im Verborgenen", while the classic house motifs on the title track are followed by the psyched-out and neon-lit nu-disco of "300CE".
Review: Fresh from dropped an EP of killer edits on Bahnsteig23 under the alternative Beard in Dust alias, Leonid Lipelis pops up on Aussie imprint Animals Dancing. Happily, the cheekily named I Did These For Myself But Now It's For Everyone contains some of the Moscow-based producer's best material yet. Check, in particular, melodious "Children Song", where sampled Japanese children's chants rise above a snappy, delay heavy drum machine groove and a Marimba style melody. Then "Video Track" is a similarly jaunty and positive affair, with more Kalimba style melodies and African chants weave in and out of a fuzzy, hybrid deep house/nu-disco backing track. While not as instantly arresting as "Children Song" , it's nevertheless an impressive dancefloor workout.
