Having spent most her musical career so far as a collaborator, backing singer or band member - most notably on bass with Dirty Projectors - Angel Deradoorian struck out on her own in 2015 with her solo debut 'The Expanding Flower Planet'. Here, her 29-minute follow up 'Eternal Recurrence' finds Deradoorian in a meditative and exploratory state. The album reverberates with cathedral-like atmosphere, pairing perfectly with her glowing melismatic vocals and the choral layering throughout. She explores an eerie and abstract sound by stretching out weighted pauses, utilising sparse instrumentation, drones and eastern melodic scales. It's a beautifully crafted second album from someone who, with confidence and conviction, continues to solidify their presence as an artist in their own right.
