Review: From Berlin to your playlist via LA, Germany's London Nebel makes his debut on burgeoning US imprint Arcane with four hair-tugging examples of gruesome gully. Just when you through the most toxic, twisted bass tones and textures had already been exploited, along he comes with the swampy slime steps of "Deadly Foraging", avalanche slides of "Mammoth Hunting" and total paranoia incarnate on "Stampede". Interested in a grimier vibe? Jump on "Caveman". Beastly.
Review: When it comes to prolonging the puristic dubstep heritage, few are doing it bigger and badder than STYN these days. With this new four tracker for Arcance, the producer adds in a few new flavours in the title track "Bi$NiS", namely some jungle breaks and a hip-hop attitude; but the same goes for "STIGEM", which takes a Southern hip-hop beat and fills it to the brim with mutant bass. If you're into deep, rough and mind-altering low frequencies, then if you've found the sweet spot.
Badjokes/Mr Fever - "How We Do It" - (3:37) 63 BPM
Badjokes - "Drop It Down" - (4:51) 125 BPM
Badjokes/Mr Fever/Ditta/Dumont - "How We Do It" (Ditta/Dumont remix) - (4:40) 125 BPM
Review: The shady, balaclava-sporting Badjokes is back with a new musical assault, this time on the appropriately named Arcane label. There are three cuts to get your teeth into here - the ravey cut-ups and buzz saw bass of the title track, the tough Mr Fever collaboration "How We Do It" and the menacingly minimal tech-attack "Drop It Down". Finally Ditta Dumont steps up to explode "How We Do It" into an electronic meltdown. Not for the faint hearted!
