Review: As far as labels go, we were super impressed with the standard of content that the team behind Articulate were able to mass across 2018, and therefore were super excited to see their latest release appear on our shelves. This project boils down to four futuristic funky bangers, with Ali McK & IYZ leading the way on their industrial masterpiece 'Trenches'. Next, we take a look at Nuaura's patois infused thrill ride entitled 'Lost', which fuses electronic leads with potent sub pressure perfectly. Following this, Doc Zee strips the arrangements right back on 'Kick Back', before Ali McK, IYZ and Retrospect join forces on the fierce designs of 'Quentin'. An excellent way to kick off the year!
Review: Luxury soulful, stripped back UK funky from the fast-rising Doc Zee; "Feel Free" sits somewhere between Roska and Masters At Work with its stunning sense of space and slowly-unfolding melodic twists that build to an incredible vocal breakdown. Further into this bountiful beat-package we hit soothing chords a wobbled-out bassline that nods neatly at the Zinc school of thought and "Oblivion" that takes us straight back to 94 on a blissful rave breaks tip. Throw in impeccable remixes such as Midnight Phulin's spiral bass freak out and breezy jazz-tinged drum & bass from Rho and you've got yourself a prize winning package.
