Review: Number three in a series whose title was self-explanatory to start with, so you should have a pretty good idea what's going on here as re-editor par excellence Alkalino makes free with 11 more nuggets from days of yore. Getting the treatment this time are Prince's '1999', Michael Jackson's 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough', Dire Straits' 'So Far Away', Rocksteady Crew's 'Hey You', Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing', King's 'Love And Pride', Visage's 'Move Up', The Smiths' 'Bigmouth Strikes Again', The Stranglers' 'Always The Sun' and a couple of unidentified cuts (one of which sounds like it might be The Human League while the other has a Front 242/Meat Beat Manifesto-like feel)... some surprising sources there for sure, but they're all handled with Alkalino's trademark aplomb so listen with open ears!

Review: Audaz returns with this week's installment in their impressive Lolita series, taking the razor to the tape and presenting some respectful edits for maximum dancefloor impact. Munich-based Alkalino & Co. are up to number 30 in the series now, and it's jam packed full of disco goodies. Go deep into the outerzone (with bells on) with "291", then you'll definitely feel alright on the sexy vocal classic "293", or, you can get seriously cosmic (like a love machine) on "295". Elsewhere, feel the native love on the euphoric "297", or get low slung towards the end - with some good ol fashioned soul classics on "299" and "300" respectively.

Another Generation - (5:57) 125 BPM
Let You Go - (6:59) 126 BPM
Ice Cold - (8:24) 126 BPM Hot
Played by: Alkalino
Review: Audaz boss Alkalino takes time out from curating the label's stream of 'Lolita' re-edit EPs to serve up three heavily sampled-based tracks of his own. 'Let You Go' purloins the vocal intro from On The House's early (1986) house gem 'Pleasure Control' and places it over clattering beats and warping, reversed-sounding synths, while on 'Ice Cold' a chugging, bass-y tech-house groove underpins a snatch from Frankie Bones' 1989 classic 'Call It Techno'. The inspiration for 'Another Generation' is harder to pinpoint, but that distorted 303 bassline is frustratingly familiar! Three very solid cuts that join the dots between past, present and future.

Review: Shady scalpel field Lolita clearly has a vast archive of edits just waiting to be unleashed, as this bumper collection of tried-and-tested reworks follows hot on the heels from several other seemingly expansive volumes. So what you we expect this time round? It begins with a warm, drowsy and sun-kissed slab of soft focus soul ("051") and ends with a decidedly Balearic shuffler full of glistening, delay-laden guitars ("060"); in between, you'll find a mix of re-tooled classics (the piano-heavy disco stomp of "059", the slap-bass propelled brilliance of peak-time workout "056" and the party-starting goodness of "055") and rearranged obscurities (the Italo-disco/new wave throb of "057" and the deep disco bliss of "053"). From start to finish, it's an excellent collection of tasty, floor-focused revisions.

Review: While he's not confirmed it either way, we're pretty sure that Lolita is a new re-edit alias of Audaz boss Alkalino - a producer who has been offering up tidy, scalpel style reworks since we were in short trousers. There's much to admire amongst the numbered, untitled tracks, from the gently housed-up soul bounce of "001" and the delightfully over-the-top disco pomposity of "003", to the throbbing disco-house cheeriness of "005", the deep house/soul fusion of "006" and the heavily percussive world music-meets-disco goodness of "009". Best of all, though, is the gritty disco-funk stomp of "008", a superb revision of a reggae disco-tinged cover of Donna Summer classic "I Feel Love".

We Shall Go Down (version 1) - (7:27) 125 BPM Hot
We Shall Go Down (version 2) - (7:27) 125 BPM
Review: Berlin-dwelling Portuguese producer Lino Polonio, AKA Alkalino, serves up a truly distinctive house release on his own Audaz imprint here. Musically, 'We Shall Go Down' is a fairly simple affair consisting of crisp but unassuming percussion, a throbbing bassline, handclaps and fluttering flutes, but it's the vocal that makes it stand out: it's sung in English but in a west African style, with perhaps a little hint of African reggae in there as well. An alternative Version 2 brings the bassline further the fore, but whichever rub you plump for that chant-like vocal is a guaranteed earworm!

Relax (Lasso's mix - Alkalino Rework) - (6:50) 120 BPM
Review: One of the undisputable facts of the human existence is that everybody loves a bit of funk. Whether that means you blast old Motown records, lounge around listening to James Brown or rave to some liquid D&B doesn't matter, what does matter is that you love a bit of funk. Alkalino offers up your daily dose with a rework of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's iconic track 'Relax' and it's sublime: gorgeous guitar flicks, a luscious yet sparse underpinning of energy and those ever-recognisable vocals in the back. Points for the wicked mid-track breakdown as well.

Beware Of The Dog/Truly
Alkalino - "Beware Of The Dog" - (6:46) 120 BPM Hot
Tico Torres - "Truly" - (5:07) 125 BPM
Review: Tico Torres is officially the drummer of Bon Jovi. However it appears that in his downtime he likes to produce underground dance music. Here he teams up with Audaz boss Alkalino for a short, sharp two-track single. The latter rocks up first to deliver "Beware Of The Dog", a super cool, sultry tech-house sizzler with echoes of Good Life and the kind of ominous vocal samples found in early rave. Torres meanwhile, delivers a more wholesome retro jam, "Truly", which delivers a swinging '60s groove complete with Hammond organs.

Review: 2016 has marked the year that this shady producer has returned to his roots at the Audaz label. It may be February but he's clearly in summer mode already: "Holiday Sex" is a shuffley, beach party workout, whilst "4 Little Birds" adds some vintage Afro-funk vibes to the mix. "Feets Feeling" meanwhile is a harder, retro flute-rock stomp-a-long and "Mustang" revisits the gritty funk of 70s cop movie soundtracks.

Review: With Portuguese disco don at the helm, the good ship Audaz sails forever on. Here he presents to us the wonderfully titled X Gets The Crest and four cuts of their warmest feelgood house. Highlights include the golden love-waves of disco-sampling houser "Your Woman", the deep, straight to the heart and head production of "Do You" and NVWLS' skippy garage-lite rework of the title track.

Jazz In A Moustache - (7:08) 122 BPM Hot
Review: When the man with one of the best artists names ever releases an EP called "Moustache" (on the month of Movember), you'd be churlish not to pay attention. As with previous outings, the Portuguese producer has repped all sides: jazzed out deep house ("Venice"), late '90s feel-good trance-tinged positivity ("The Todd Dance"), loose percussive butt-shifting funk ("Zajj") and slinky, horn-heaved late night strutting ("Jazz In A Moustache"). Each cut tickling the sweet spot of the sub genre it should be filed under, Ramboiage's understanding and passion for all forms of house music is abundantly evident. Twist those whiskers!

Review: Some cheeky fun here with two new perky numbers from Munich's Audaz. First up Adrian Giodano delivers "It's On You", a foray into Italo-disco's chirpy day-glo later period - think Fun Fun on strong happy pills. Label boss Alkalino also steps in with "Set Dem Free", a silly slice of pumping feelgood house that is guaranteed to get everyone in the club smiling no matter how hard they may try to resist.

Spread The Love (Alkalino remix) - (7:25) 117 BPM Hot
Review: Alkalino's Audaz imprint keeps on serving up the good stuff as "Spread The Love" lives up to its name in every way. Deep, driving and dreamy, the strong sense of positivity is reined in with intricate groove subtlety. Flip for label boss Alkalino's remix; lolloping along with its low-swung bassline and well-spaced rhythmic vocal textures, it plays the perfect counter to the straight up deep house original. Can you feel the love? We certainly can.
