Review: Hoax has been doing absolute bits for quite a while now and this forthcoming two-tracker for Audio Addict is a reminder that his ability to craft moody beats is right out of the top draw. 'Backstabber' exemplifies this best and moody doesn't begin to cover the grasping force of this track, a lows-heavy and ego-light rendition of pure dancefloor energy, with old-school brass textures providing the backdrop for a remorseless escape into clubland. Tickets ready please and leave your baggage on the door. The flipside is a remix from Kontakt, and he flips the bassline completely into a different beast, a remorseless set of stabs which hit with abandon. Insane.

Review: After a string of thumpers and bumpers on Pick N Mix, Bagged & Tagged and Brawlin Beatz, Refracta gets busy on Audio Addict with this epic EP. '88' sets the tone; bouncy, fun but full of weight and grit. Elsewhere 'Gravity' takes us into deep space with its sci-fi-like spaciness and zero gravity floaty feels, 'Tonight' flips between dark and light with cute keys over a roughhouse reese that grumbles from here to Glasgow. Review: We all know Jam Thieves bang hard. We all know they're canny with that minimal, grunting, dirty funk style. But do we know what flavour Jam these pilferers are? Has anyone ever asked them? Let's see if we can find some clues... 'Outbreak' is sharp and citrusy with a bite like a gooseberry. 'Johnny Cash' has a dark charm to it, all slinky and mysterious like a black cherry. 'State Killer' has a spicy vibe to it that creeps out of nowhere like a good chill jam while 'Crystal' tastes like machine oil and bassline napalm, cooked to perfection like mamma used to make. Review: Boom! Audio Addict looks back over the vaults and draw for some of Euphonique's many big hitters on the label for this killer remix EP from some serious names and label family members. Guzi steps up first, fixing up our focus on the rave stabs on 'True' while man-of-the-moment Kumo flips 'Siren' into a gnarly dark style slap-about. Elsewhere man like Sl8r adds his unique, loose-limbed funk to 'Gangstar', Conrad Subs gets all jiggy over 'Booyaka' while Epicentre turns in with a flabby grizzler remix. Euphonique herself steps in to conclude this EP with the Amen VIP mix.

Review: Forget the rona, begone with the covid, 'Dubplate Fever' is the most serious virus you need to be aware of in 2020. Symptoms include a lifetime studio obsession, an addiction to all things jungle, developing 'breakbeat' as a second language and a fixation on making people turn their faces inside out and swearing at you. Xav suffers all these symptoms and has captured the energy and angst of the virus for us all to hear. The razor drum edits on 'Dubplate Fever', the ghostly vibes and two-step of 'Bristol Sound' (with Zach), the dubby synths and plunging bass gurgle on 'Take A Trip' and the classic melting-pot homage '1993'; each track translating the dark energy and uncurable rawness of 'Dubplate Fever', each track suggesting Xav is happy with the fact there is no known cure. Review: Audio Addict are turning ten years old, a fantastic achievement, and to mark the occasion the good people over there are releasing a wicked compilation that draws upon lots of the artists in their orbit. This first sampler features Disrupta, Jappa, Subcriminal, Crossy and K Jah across a five-track showcase of just how gully this label can be, with all five artists stepping up to remix tracks from the label back-catalogue. Disrupta takes the reins first and does so with aplomb, putting a fiery spin on DJ Hybrid's 'Shoot Em Up' and flipping it into a warped-out engine of pure dancefloor energy. At the end of the release, K Jah comes with a distinctly different vibe that's much more rough and tumble, a bouncy yet relentless bassline sitting beneath a sampled vocal from Liam Bailey that sounds unreal. Top EP and we can't wait for the full version.

Review: Fresh D&B in the house courtesy of newcomer Jak! Having only previously appeared before on Welsh label Incurzion through a collaboration with Concept One, Jak's solo debut for Audio Addict brings with it two extra collabs with Nautika and bossman DJ Hybrid. Receiving some personalised cover art in the process, Jak opens with the skippy, almost fidget-touched, half-time rave number "Back Around". Deep atmospheres enter the void when the first drop hits in "Dubplate Pulse" (and "Spawner") with the humming edge of Jak's basslines turning into something of a roar in the ambient pastures of "The Lion". Bouncier dub and reggae vibes in "Bun It Up" too matched by "Obstruction" only to be stripped back for some extra jungle percussion to make its way to the front of the mix.

Review: The Audio Addict crew are locked in once more to the sounds of the UK underground, their relentless focus on pushing hard drum & bass as consistent as ever and this time around their host is J Select. Kicking it off is 'Pressure', which has a lovely vocal sample focused intro that dissolves onto the drop into a narrow crevice of twisting bass energy, its drums inch perfect at the bottom of the range. 'Take Me Away' is similar, with a two-step drum pattern than supports a choppy, aggy arrangement of low frequency sonics. Dark and twisted, just how we like it.

Review: Audio Addict are one of the most prolific labels in the game and an imprint which we regularly feature in these pages, mostly because of their penetrative ability to get the heart pumping with some dirty jump up. This is the second instalment in their New Addictions series and it's a percy, with contributions from J Select, Kamoh, Erbman , Burnzy and Joely and T Zone. J Select comes out the blocks straight away with 'Glitch', a giant, cavernous stepper with oodles of space in the arrangement for its multitude of coarse basses to blow you away. Erbman has the other highlight, with a growling, wobbling underground of sounds below its skipping drum line. Big stuff.

Review: These 3 are some of Manny's best forthcoming talent, a collection of artists who prioritise genuine vibes and naughty head nodders over pretentious introspection or chin-stroking punditry. Hardcore Vibes is an exemplification of that worldview, with four system-shaking cuts of jungle-influenced hedonism that range from the funky to the downright dirty. 'The Masses' falls into the latter of these two categories and it packs a tapestry of different low-frequency slivers and punchy bass notes, all underpinning a raucous set of jungle stutters and vibrato breaks. Review: Damageman has been on a bit of a roll recently and he's back on Audio Addict for a stripped back, roughshod single which showcases an interesting blend of the minimal sound with the jump-up side of the scene. This is a style that's been taking off recently and we're very much into it, it's a bit less full-on that jump-up and not as screechy, yet still has the wicked attitude and urban-edged toughness of jump-up. 'Ass Up' is an excellent example, with an Ice Cube sample and multiple criss-crossing strands of reverberating bass, an amalgamation of low-frequency textures which just roll out the whole way through. Sick stuff here.

This label always - repeat, ALWAYS - bring out the goods with their tunes and this release is no different, sitting very nicely in the modern, up-to-date brand of attitude-filled D&B pioneered by the likes of Serum and Bou. 'Bloodpath' exemplifies this perfectly, with a rough and diving bassline that will definitely sit well with the discerning D&B head. 'Peter The Pusher' is another creative cut, its spooky bassline definitely setting it apart form others.

Review: This is an album for any discerning D&B head who has been locked in to the sounds of D&B this year. Featuring the likes of SL8r, Kumarachi, DJ Hybrid, Bou and Stompz, this big LP touches right onto the pulse of where the D&B scene is at the minute: long basslines, raucous atmospherics and downright dirty vibes. Bou provides that from the very start with his remix of 'Raised In The Jungle' by DJ Hybrid and MC Haribo, a full-throttled run through the Mancunian space in the Bou fashion that we all already know and love. 'Liberation' by RMS is another highlight, slightly more stripped back than some of the other offerings but still with plenty of force to go around. This is a fat release.

Review: RMS lowkey makes some of the dirtiest rolling D&B around and My Generation is only a confirmation of that fact. The intricacy with which he blends various strands of bassline is shown clearly in 'Outta Here', which after a soulful intro switches on the drop into a mash of jagged basses and diving since wobbles. 'My Generation' stutters and rattles out of the intro, its punching low-frequency stabs land like a tonne of bricks on the drop and you can tell it was made for the dancefloor. 'Liberation' might just be the best, as its pacey drums and reggae samples fade into a sonic explosion of glitching, sine combinations and stitched together basses. The final two - 'Getting Down' and 'Woke' - end the release on a jungle-influenced high of knifed in energy and monstrous low-end groans. What an EP!

Review: Euphonique lands on Audio Addict with a fiery EP. Kicking off with 'True' is crunching halftime drums that skitter away into a drop of rattling percussion that fills up the range in a full-throttled run of high quality energy. 'Siren' carries on the trend of pummelling kick drums and suspenseful ambience, with a sick vocal lead and wicked little drum switch ups. 'Gangster' brings the pulsating low-frequency wobbles at the bottom of the range as skippy, pacey drums lead out over the top - you'll recognise the sample on this one. The ragga vocals on 'Booyaka' smack of that classic Manny sound as a Serum-esque switch-up bumps into stabby bass bounces that scream character. 'Killah' ties things up with a clean drum line and diving bass pulses and yet more sublime wobbly action - a real stinker to finish off the release.

Review: Don't be misled by the title: this is no thrown-together 'greatest hits' package but rather a 40-track label showcase from DJ Hybrid's Audio Addict label, coming complete (if you opt to buy the whole album) with a fast and furious, 52-minute mixed version by Canada's RMS, aka Paul Currie. Tracks come a mixture of relatively new names (Martyn Nytram, Saffire Dubz, Confusious) and more established players (LJ High, Scartip and of course Hybrid himself), while stylistically the album touches on various different D&B sub-genres, but with the emphasis always firmly on cuts that are built to tear up the rave.

Making his debut on DJ Hybrid's ever-on-point Audio Addict imprint here he delivers some serious matters of the day: "Space Exploration" is hookier than Serum's riff-filled coin purse, "The Life Stream" groans like its OD'd on a fog horn collection while "Chasing Clouds" flips for a breezy uplifting Hozzy-circa-2007 vibe. Audio Addict badman-in-residence Kumarachi joins the fray for the finale: the warped and weirded-out bassline bender "Get Up". Get down more like. Time for a slice of good life (stream).

Review: We told you he'd be back... After a precious excursion on Deviant Audio he returns to DJ Hybrid's double-A imprint with more bounceable unpronouncables: "Pemmican" is all about the soothing sci-fi soul thanks to its velvet filtered tones while "Rouge" (with Captivate) takes us even deeper into space with lavish bass tones and a whirlwind of rising chords. Elsewhere "Weight Of The Matter" is an emotional-rich piano-tickled soul collabo with his IRL partner Anastasia and "Tiwaz" sees him colliding with Audio Addict/Deep In The Jungle's biggest success story so far Kumarachi with epic, goosebumping results. Finally we're sent off to pastures on planets faraway with the hurricane chords and power liquid momentum of "Balisong". Stunning.

Review: If you ain't misbehaving, you ain't worth saving... Hybrid's Audio Addict return to the ravey series they set in 2016 with another hard-slapping six-piece. Do-no-wrong Kumarachi reminds us why he's boss with a stuttering jungle roll and demonically pitched vocal samples, Conrad Subs calls on everyone's favourite macabre aged WWE wrestler by way of twist think break devilry while Hybrid fine-tunes his 20/20 vision with a stinking halftime romp. Elsewhere Riffz lashes out on the razz snares, the mysterious Scartip skins us alive with his rim shots and Habitat strips things back with some beautiful time-stretched drum work. Be good now.

Review: After a very impressive 2017, the Audio Addict collective are back with another heavyweight release package to kick off 2018 with a bang. After a fantastically well received release of DJ Hybrid and Haribo's heavyweight collaboration 'Raised In The Jungle', the Audio Addict imprint have put together a phenomenal selection of six official remixes. Our favourites have to be smooth subs of Swerve's rollers rework, the techy arrangement and vocal manipulation of My Selectas redesign and Drop Out's classic hip hop remix, complete with scratches and vocal breakdowns. This is a great start to the year for Hybrid's ever impressive imprint.

Review: DJ Hybrid looks back over another successful and hugely prolific year with this massive 31 track compendium of Audio Addict slammers, bangers and a few cheeky exclusives. A great opportunity to get up to speed on the 170BPM clarity DJ Hybrid operates the label at, every single track guarantees heat. Notable shouts go out to Kumurachi's various inclusions (especially Octo-Pi's brand new remix of "Phatty"), RMS & Dcision's low-riding bumper "One Ting", Epicentre's slinky soul-touched roller "infamous", Agro's skank-slapped "Bust Dis Ting" and Swerve's maximum-boosting twist of Hybrid's "What Else". But that really is the tip of the double-A iceberg. It's been an exceptional year for the label, and this is proof.

Review: Some say he got his name because he's as driven by detail and as ruthless as a tax inspector. Others say he got his name because he's so hard you can stick tacks in his neck and he doesn't even notice. What we do know is that he's responsible for three precision productions that get right to the gully heart of the matter... "Midnight" is all about the power bounce, "Labyrinth" is a shaken-and-stirred roller with a really cool, almost Skeppy-like vocal twist up and dreamy pads, "Snide" is all about the late 90s Ram sound with its vicious riff that twists in and around the beats in a kind of Shimon-esque style. Review: London's Rob Blaze steps forward on continuously impressive Audio Addict imprint with a box of impressive weighty rollers for the label's fifty-first official release. Blaze displays fantastic versatility and finesse across the breadth of the EP, navigating effortlessly between the techy styles of the title track into the more subtle liquid inspired arrangement of 'Don't Take It Away'. From this we move into a super subby roller by way of 'Seen You Before' which holds crispy drum layers in pleasing unison before we land onto the final track, a tearout titan entitled 'Stop It'. Finally, the ever dependable DJ Hybrid emerges on remix duty with a minimal neuro rework of 'Under Pressure'.

Review: Direct to the dance: Swerve returns to Audio Addict with his fattest package to date. "Bad Inna England" flexes away on the old detuned synth chords before dropping into a simple but effective bassline Q&A, "Massive & Crew" is all about the off-beat funk, militant rawness and cheeky old school references while "Rollerball" shows off a slippery side to the up-and-coming artist with light soulful touches and a deft purr on the bassline while "Turn Up shows off his sternest side with some chest-pressing drone bass notes. Finally we have "Badboy Sound" taps into a classic G-Dub roughness with added militant drum attitude. Massiveness in all directions. All crews must big up.
