Review: Jay B and Solley's Section project hits a new level of heritage notes with four slabs of timeless junglism; "Pull Up" has that rattling rolling sound that Randall and a young Andy C championed almost 25 years ago, with its brutal sheets of distorted bass "Easy War" is straight out of the book of Dillinja circa "Grimey", "Rasta Vibes" is a neat dubby roller not dissimilar to the early work of Breakage while "Come Ready" finishes on a dark tech vibe with subtle nuances of Headz coded deep into the atmospheres. Four disparate styles, four more reasons to be rocking Section jams all day long.

Review: Originally released in January, Audio Addict pick up on Swerve's dark-minded stepper "Demons" for an on-point reversion session. First up Agro takes it apart and rebuilds it over a slightly sharper step-rhythm and adds an additional Hazard-style bass melody. Swerve himself steps up with a VIP that flips the hook with all the surprise, shock and awe one expects from a VIP in this current climate. Demonically good.

Review: Once you've finished saluting Audio Addict for the ridiculous title of this various artists EP press play... The sounds are even better than the memorable title. Samurai Breaks & DJ Hybrid's title track skips between eski fills, classic jungle elements and halftime steps with such slick fusion you could rewind this for hours and no one would blame you. Other highlights include the ragga steps and Dub Phizix-style jungle subversion of "On A Vibe", the barbed soul and Bukemesque brushed drums of "Wu Jukin", the gangster halftime of "Ruff It Up My Selecta" and "Night" where classic Blackmarket bass is fractured for the Exit generation. Audio Addict have always been generous and forward-thinking with their releases but this one raises the bar a few notches higher again. Essential.

Review: Oh gosh. DJ Hybrid has been bang on point with every plate he's dropped in the last two years. Now the men who've benefited from his bullets in their sets return the favour with this first volume of remixes from last year's album Mixed Origins; Callide takes us right back to early 2000s Fresh-style savagery on "It's Murder", Ray Keith polishes up his amen knuckle dusters on "Run Away" while Benny L adds a whole new level of floating charm to "Bring It Back". Deeper into the collection Livewire and Samurai Breaks take us right back to 92 with new school techniques, DJ LAB lays down some superlative subs on "Boom In 93", Schematic twist "Beyond My Control" into a fuzzy distorted grizzler while finally Section busts up the drums in his faithful twist on "Lost In The Music". Album remix packages really don't come broader or badder than this.

Review: On-point future feels from Audio Addict pillar Kumarachi as he teams up with Shy FX and Chase & Status collaborator Liam Bailey: "4am Where Are You" is an all-out vocal soul record with the big hooky emotion. Armed a warped, slightly trippy edge to the musicality, it's a subversive twist on a classic formation. "Shifting Sands" is more of a heads-down roller that pummels with same disregard for your health as Renegade Hardware tracks did around the early 2000s. Again, with some creative techniques applied to the vocal aspects, it's clear a lot of attention has been invested. More of this please Kumarachi.

Review: Last spotted on Audio Addict's impeccable Ravey Misbehavey collection, midlands murker Scartip returns with a full EP loaded and coded with danger. With "Bipolar Musique" the title says it all as we float from a cloud chowing break into a savage paranoid step with complete showstopping contrast. "Chung" continues the mean message with techno-like momentum and tripped-out loopy FX while "Mistakes" is a space-aged homage to hip-hop bangers of the 23rd century. "Free Entry Tactics" saves the most experimental ideas to last as we're taken down a futuresque jungle rabbit hole where things are not what they seem. Serious and unclassifiable, Scartip's sporting some proper innovation here.

Review: Both spotted on DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle imprint, the ever-sharpened sonics of RMS and Dcision appear in full widescreen EP form on his flagship label Audio Addict. The outcome is every bit as gully, necksnappy and happy slappy as you'd want it to be: "Feel The Melody" taps deep into the timeless rave aesthetics, "This Is My Sound" loops up a sultry Riya-style vocal with savage soul results while Shotz joins the fray for a KO finale where the bass tears everything within a two mile radius a new one. For added kicks, RMS throws in the solo sampler salute "Back To Reality", a bumper so heavy in reference points you might just singe your whiskers. Living the dream.

Review: Back to life, back to reality, back to the future, back to basics: RMS & Dcision let rip with the second part of their "Live The Life" project and it's another authentic drum & bass adventure. "Reachin Out" contains a vocal that all heads who live the life will recognise, "One Ting" is a timeless Bristol or Manchester roller the likes of which you could imagine in a Krust or Sappo set at any period since 1996. "Got Your Pleasure" nods towards the juke influence of jungle with serious ghetto attitude, "Hurt My Love" shows the duo's deeper side while "Foundations" smoulders slowly with dubby percussive build before dropping into a Spirit-style hook. Life affirming.

Review: Emerging Canadian spellbinder Tyr Kohout makes his debut on DJ Hybrid's Audio Addict with five breezy soulful skippers. "Darklight" is coded with ebbing, flowing synths that are almost Balearic in their laidback charm, "Sector 9" and "Wonderful" are wrapped up tightly in dusky dulcets that add a deep gravity and organic realness. Those in need of a slightly darker touch should head for the Artificial Intelligence-style "Tell Me Your Secrets" while those hungry for steppier beats and Chords-style glitches should hop on "Wurlyboy". One for the radar; something tells us we'll be hearing more from Tyr in the future...

Review: Now this is interesting... DJ Hybrid is releasing his second album across two EPs on both of his labels. Here we find "Addicted To Audio" on his flagship imprint Audio Addict. A dedication to the foundational D&B bug he was first bitten by, this collection shows his dancefloor side with raw, unkempt energy and riff dynamism; the low-end grunts and wry MC samples of "The Lurker", the logistical shades and euphoric thrust of "Forever" and beehive bassline and sudden flighty switch on "Boom Ting" are just three examples of Hybrid's high level addiction here. Now go and seek the second half "Deeper In The Jungle".

Review: Dark dealings from Bristol's finest underwater crook, Audio Addict present five moments of pure ruffage that gently nod at the label's strong jungle affiliation. "Roadblock" rolls out with deviant beats and big dubby washes, "Move Up Ya Body" is laced with much more of a sunshine skank while "Sound Come Test" completely flips the vibe with a darked out dancehall dynamic that saturated in chilling atmospheres. The brilliantly titled "Bun Dem", meanwhile, flexes around an apt vocal sample with precision techiness that builds into a sweet old school breakdown. Need to block a few avenues and boulevards as well as roads? Look no further than bossman Hybrid's version. Block busting.
