Review: Audiophile Deep welcomes Alex Drazin aka ADMN back for another genre-bending release. In its original form, "Chaw" is a throbbing, pul-sating groove that resounds to a grainy bass and snappy percussion, and houses wave upon wave of psychedelic, electronic riffs. It makes for a vivid track that sits somewhere between techno and IDM. The la-bel has commissioned Bryan Barton aka Black Asteroid to rework "Chaw". Led by a frazzled, relentless bass and a driving, industrial rhythm, it sounds like the kind of track that gets played during the ware-house scene of a vampire movie - a fitting tribute to ADMN's otherworld-ly original.
Breath (Timid Boy's Power To The Lamb remix) - (7:15) 126 BPM
Review: Nihil Young aka Mattia Marotta is the brains behind the Frequenza label, and last year impressed with "Breathe" on Audiophile. Now he's back with two new versions of the track. The 2019 version resounds to a pulsating bass, glitchy percussion and a stop-start groove that's laced with dissected vocal samples, a combination that makes for a powerful but melodic sound. For this remix package, Audiophile has also enlisted the services of Timid Boy. Stripping the arrangement back and putting a focus on the driving rhythm and shifting tonal sequences, his 'Power to the Lamb' rework is functional but simultaneously unforgettable.
Review: Yoodza is part of a wave of techno producers to emerge from the former Soviet Union in recent years - and on Black Star & Solar, it's hard not to understand why he has risen to prominence. On "Black Star" he lays down a solid, thumping kick, effective filters, blasts of white noise percussion and a robotic vocal sample. It builds and builds until Yoodza pulls the plug (temporarily) with a massive break down, before returning with a grimy bass. "Solar" is equally dance floor-focused. However on this occasion, he delivers a combination of pulsating bass, sweeping chords and rolling snares to demonstrate his production prowess.
