Solid Street EP
Solid Street - (6:09) 118 BPM Hot
Solar System - (5:58) 116 BPM
Rose Tree - (5:50) 115 BPM
Review: B2 Recordings hits release number 13 with DJ Rocca and Lex combing on a trio of fresh house cuts that blend elements of disco, Latin and soul. Up first is the glorious 'Solid Street' which has loose and percussive disco-house grooves overlaid with big synth energy and steamy vocals. 'Solar System' is slower and deeper, with a more rugged bassline and low slung sense of funk that never lets up. Last of all, 'Rose Tree' is a ramshackle house arrangement with whistles, Rhodes keys, tin-pot percussion, florid flutes and plenty of sunny energy all making it a real standout. A timeless EP packed with musicality.

Idyot EP
Idyot (feat Kristina Berger) - (6:03) 117 BPM Hot
Meet Me Halfway (feat Brothers' Vibe) - (6:01) 123 BPM
Come On Now - (6:18) 120 BPM
Review: B2 Recordings rolls out more of its quality-assured deep house here with label head Bengoa stepping up next for a new three-tracker that comes with featured guests Kristina Berger and Brothers' Vibe. 'Idyot' kicks off with deep and pulsing synths and clacking hits that bring an early Chicago vibe next to the libidinous and erotic vocals which really tease. 'Meet Me Halfway' sinks into a super silky groove that is deep as you like and driven by stylish drum hits under a muttered vocal. 'Come On Now' then sinks into a more acid-laced atmosphere with sustained chords keeping you on edge next to loose and jumbled percussion. It's a stylistically diverse EP, this one.

Thelxis
Thelxis (extended vocal) - (8:24) 115 BPM
Thelxis (instrumental) - (8:07) 115 BPM Hot
Thelxis (original mix) - (5:41) 115 BPM
Review: B2 Recordings is a label run by Greek talent Bengoa as a platform to offer up his own diverse sounds. Here he serves up a new single featuring P A N that is sublime, seductive and deep. The vocals you will recognise from a classic pop hit but here they get all resung in an even more libidinous fashion. The drums roll, and the percussion is loose, and bright but soft chord stabs heighten the mood. There's also an instrumental version of 'Thelxis' that is all about the late-night grooves plus a radio edit as a digital-only extra. Stylish sounds for romantic moments.

Sundials EP
Sundials (feat Nathan Haines - original mix) - (6:26) 123 BPM Hot
Second Nature (original mix) - (5:59) 125 BPM
Gotta Let It Go (original mix) - (5:47) 123 BPM
Review: Lisbon-based Frenchman Brawther, who is also one half of Dungeon Meat for more raw grooves, shows off his mastery of deep house on this fresh new EP for B2 Recordings. 'Sundials' (feat Nathan Haines) immediately soothes the soul with its lunging chords and seductive sax lines. Occasional female coos add further lushness to this most heartwarming of tunes. 'Second Nature' has a little more height and drive to it but again the drums are warm and fuzzy, the chords smeared in artful ways and the overall vibe utterly heady. Last of all is the bubbly and dubby 'Gotta Let It Go' with its bottomless depths and chords that melt off into an infinite horizon. Gorgeous stuff from this always quality artist.

Fast Jags
Fast Jags (Felipe Gordon Deep Funk remix) - (9:11) 123 BPM Hot
Fast Jags (Bengoa's Raw edit) - (6:19) 120 BPM
Fast Jags (original mix) - (6:41) 120 BPM
Review: Bengoa's Athens-based label B2 Recordings has impressed over its first nine releases. The tenth is another fine one to mark the mini-milestone and it comes from Lex, who was last on the label a couple of years ago. His star has only continued to rise since then with fresh beats on the likes of Samosa and Leng and now his brilliant disco house fusions find more new heights with 'Fast Jags.' This is a cosmic workout that slowly builds on nice loose drums with astral pads circling around you and keys withering in sci-fi fashion. Bengoa offers up a raw edit that brings some deeper jazz keys and tumbling bongos and Felipe Gordon's Deep Funk remix ups the house vibes with a nice thumping groove.

Feelings EP
Unpleasant Dreams - (6:19) 122 BPM
I Feel It Coming - (6:25) 125 BPM
Inner Journey - (6:59) 121 BPM Hot
Review: The prolific Manuel Costela has worked in a range of house and disco styles over the years, but this three-tracker for Bengoa's Athens-based B2 Recordings finds him firmly in deep house mode. Opener 'Unpleasant Dreams' is a suitably drifty and abstract affair, albeit still underpinned by a hefty 4/4 kick and with sampled, spoken vox to stop it washing over you. It's 'I Feel It Coming' and 'Inner Journey' that work better for yours truly, though: both (the former especially) are just a little more uptempo and driving, and both add garage-y elements that help infuse proceedings with a little more soul and groove.

Innerzone EP
Beats Me - (5:42) 123 BPM Hot
Innerzone - (6:24) 127 BPM
Outta Here - (6:42) 126 BPM
White Crash - (6:17) 125 BPM
Review: Novatek, a prominent figure in Greece's techno scene, drops his 'Innerzone' EP on Bengoa's B2 Recordings. Savvas Georgiadis, the man behind Novatek and various other pseudonyms like Dataman, Fujiyama, and Neural Network, has been involved in electronic music since 1992, producing music that ranges from deep minimal techno to industrial/EBM. "Beats Me" opens the EP with gritty dub stabs and dynamic 909 drums, followed by the 90s IDM-influenced title track. "Outta Here" returns to dub echoes, while "White Crash" closes out the release with a mix of deep house and resonant synth sequences.

Nightzoom EP
Nightzoom - (6:21) 123 BPM
Saraska - (7:16) 126 BPM Hot
The Girl Who Loved Flowers - (6:53) 123 BPM
Stars Keep Shining - (5:41) 125 BPM
Review: Having previously offered up quietly impressive EPs from the likes of Manuel Costela, Novatek, Lex Athens and label founder Bengoa, B2 Recordings has turned to long-serving Belgian producer UC Beatz. He's in full-on party-starting mode on EP opener 'Nightzoom', wrapping looped disco strings, tightly edited vocal snippets and chunky bass around an infectious house beat, while 'Saraska' is a pleasingly raw, stripped-back and jacking slab of Chicago-inspired retro-futurism marked out by bold analogue bass, sweaty drums and bold TB-303 tweaks. Elsewhere, 'The Girl Who Loved Flowers' is a tasty deep house roller featuring woozy chords, sustained synth-strings and a sampled spoken word vocal that features a man reciting names of flowers, while 'Stars Keep Shining' is an even more warming and tactile foray into sun-splashed deep house territory.
