Review: Working as Rozski for this Boys Noize sub-label, Thomas "TJ" Rozdilsky takes time out from his TJR project to delve back into his acid past. As its title suggests, Midwest is inspired by the classic US mid-90s techno sound as pioneered by Freddie Fresh, Woody McBride and the latter's Com-munique label. It's no surprise then that the title track resounds to spiralling, gurgling 303s and pile-driving snare rolls, creating the kind of urgent energy that is rarely heard in modern electronic mu-sic. "Enter" is even more visceral, as Rozdilsky lets a slamming bass underpin an oppressive acid line that exudes raw form anger.
