Review: The Hague's bussin' BAKK label is back again with a hug and kiss in Xoxo - drawing in some 11 tracks featuring numbers from friends and cohorts like Legowelt, Aurora Halal, Ocean and Dont DJ! Furthermore you have intrepid cuts from Antenna with the some heavy break beats in "Spiral" alongside some warm and classic deep house from SFV Acid in "Urbanfury". Checkout those squat rave beats from Tala Drum Corps' "Gargoyle" - plus that acid - next to compilation closer "De Papaverparade" that brings that Miami Rhodes feeling to the floor with some extra heat - those kicks bro! As a concluding release to what's be a wonderful label we don't wanna say goodbye to - Xoxo, BAKK says, is a mighty thank you to the artists that helped the label find its place in Holland's rich musical heritage.

Review: Introducing GEN-Y/GF, a new project for the Hague-based Bakk label that in its seven year existence has brought us a new wave of bunker rave from a select pool of artists like Aurora Halal, MGUN and Legowelt to Jerimiah R, SVF Acid and Oceanic! Packaged as a split release of three solo GEN-Y numbers and the chilled out, psychedelic, big beat and trip hop collaboration "Sugarbaby", GEN-Y's own material takes shape in the uptempo booty house of "Drunk On Ya Lips" to the fresh electro and new age sounds of "Earth #4" alongside the harder and acid tripping "Cosmic Desert". Bakk in the game.

Review: SFV Acid aka Zane Reynolds has been releasing left of centre electronic music for over a decade on a variety of labels, including BAKK - and ResedaVill provides another fascinating insight into his unique musical perspectives. It starts off with the tweaked acid lines, offbeat funk and mysterious synths of "Lil_heaven(less)", before Reynolds heads into beats-y territory with 'Always (LA hardcrew mix)", which sounds like DJ Shadow on a heavy dose of acid. "405 Mary" sees Reynolds deliver a rickety rhythm and lo-fi electronic melodies, while on "Jasons II", this individualistic producer drops a dreamy, sub-aquatic piece of hip-hop that tailored for home-listening.

Milan W - "Float" - (16:49) 115 BPM
Ekolali - "Doggerland" - (17:30) 110 BPM Hot
Review: Den Haag based label BAKK extends it's mind altering quest with Plafond 2 with two tracks averaging 17 around minutes. From Antwerp's depths Milan W. aka Milan Warmoeskerken who after a couple of fine releases on Jj Funhouse to make his debut on this Dutch label. He brings a stunning track (consisting of three parts) of ambient exotica. The flipside carries synth wizard Ekolali aka Cosmic Letters, who resides on a barn in Sweden and has had previous releases on Not Not Fun Kosmisk Vag and Zeon Light. He gets stuck right in with a rhythmic jam to sink into.

Legowelt - "Wild At Heart" - (11:00) 138 BPM Hot
SFV Acid - "Offline Wave" - (7:30) 154 BPM
Haron - "Marimbaman" - (18:18) 109 BPM
Review: It's not exactly a bad way to start 2017 with a collaborative release featuring Legowelt, SFV Acid and Haron, but that's just how the BAKK collective like to operate. The imprint from The Hague is increasingly on our radar as of late, and it's thanks to a vast selection of electronic sounds that touch all corners of the underground spectrum. Synth wizard Legowelt kicks things into motion with the placid waves of "Wild At Heart", a beatless sway of sonics that manages to construct a poignant groove out of delicate melodies, and this is followed by the even more barren landscapes of SFV Acid's "Offline Wave". Finally, Haron gets all polyrhythmic with "Marimbaman", a delightful, playful groove made up of quirky melodic shots and subtle percussions.

Review: In recent years, L.A-based Zane "SFV Acid" Reynolds has concentrated on making albums. Here he returns to vinyl for the first time in four years, serving up eight tracks stretched across a 12" and 10". There's much to admire, from the broken techno-meets-Moon B loveliness of "French Deimar", and classic tech-jazz of "Deep", to the spacey ambient experimentalism of "Dickinsdontile", and punchy electro of "Wenegalam". While much of the EP is intergalactic in ethos, he's more than capable of banging it hard, as the intense acid rush of "Extrakrizzbeat" neatly proves.

Accidental Myiasis - (7:11) 118 BPM Hot

Marmalade - (5:21) 123 BPM
Review: For the seventh release on their ever-impressive label, the Den Haag "militia" behind BAKK has turned to Bronze Teeth, the Diagonal-affiliated collaboration between L/F/D/M and former Factory Floor man Dominic Butler. While firmly rooted in pulsating techno, the latter man's industrial influences can be heard throughout. "Accidental Myiasis" delivers wonky vocal snippets, raw electronics and a relentlessly stuttering analogue rhythm, while "Cold Meets" sees the duo combining live percussion and metronomic drum machine hits with distorted, Cabaret Voltaire style electronics. A fine EP closes with "Marmalade", a thrillingly dark and intense fusion of wild acid lines, thumping techno drums and wayward modular electronics.

Laundromat Of Your Mind - (7:18) 127 BPM
Review: The Hague's legendary synth wizard Legowelt is back on BAKK, one of his local imprints. "Micronesia" has a sublime groove with dreamy pads and lush melodies that beg your attention. "Pannenkoekenfeest" (try saying that three times fast) is the real highlight here; a tough Detroit techno stomper with all the soul you'd expect and reminiscent of old Juan Atkins or Carl Craig. On the flip "Esoteric Party Buffet" is a dreamy, cyclical and minimal number that loops just nicely. Finally "Laundromat Of Your Mind" continues with the loveably absurd titles and gets back on the tougher tip. A peak time number that references classic Robert Hood. As much as these all seem like tributes, they're all done in the trademark Danny Wolfers way.

Review: Those familiar with the Strange Life label operated by Danny Wolfers will know it's rife with CDr material worthy of the vinyl format. Whilst our personal favourite (the bizarre Portopia by Wolfers alias Satomi Taniyama) remains looked over by labels, Berceuse Heroique were responsible for a quite sumptuous double LP edition of Smackos album The Age Of Candy Candy earlier this year. Now local Den Haag crew BAKK have got their hands on 2004 Strange Life album Dark Days for an equally classy triple LP edition. Wolfers fans not familiar with this album will immediately fall in love with Dark Days, thanks to the signature blend of goofy track titles ("Lego Resistance", "An Obnoxious Affair On Tape") and music that veers from soaring, synth vistas to grotty techno via cold, primitive electronics and more.
