Review: Although he's made appearances on a handful of other labels - a 2015 outing on Greta Cottage Workshop being the most prominent - Arnheim prefers to do things himself. Thus, his latest single comes courtesy of his Barbara Recordings imprint. It's a bit of a gem, too, with opener "Get On With Looking" - a wonderfully deep, loose and languid chunk of slipped dancefloor soul rich in live instrumentation and blessed with a sublime vocal from Phil Rose - making a particularly big impression. Rose also appears on "Do You Know", a particularly live sounding, 11-minute workout built around prominent electric piano motifs, jazzy broken house drums, fluid pianos and snaking sax solos. "Becoming Welcome", meanwhile, sounds like something Amp Fiddler and Moodymann would jam out on a sunny afternoon in Detroit.
