Review: Gratts' Today Extended Play' features the main track 'Today', that's packed with energy and soul, making it a club-ready hit. It is a perfect blend of classic and modern house elements. Robert Owens' legendary vocals paired with smooth female harmonies create a magical atmosphere, enhanced by chime-like melodies that are both soulful and uplifting. The track's message about the importance of living in the present moment adds an emotional depth that resonates with listeners. For DJs, the EP offers plenty of versatility. The 'Main Mix - Outro' stretches things out, adding a bit more time for club use and featuring a useful acapella section at the end. The 'Radio Edit' condenses the magic for a tighter format, while the 'Mark Hand Rework' delivers a laid-back, lounge-like version that's perfect for more relaxed settings. Heide Aca's version strips things down to almost an acapella, with just a hint of rhythm and plenty of vocal echo for a more intimate feel. On Side-2, 'Mount Olympus', is not to be overlooked. It's a driving track that grabs attention with its infectious energy, making it a serious contender for club play. The 'Bang The Box Bonus Beats' mix puts the spotlight on the rhythm, providing an extra tool for those looking to highlight the percussive elements. This EP is an exciting and versatile addition to any house set, offering a range of options for different vibes and venues.

Played by: Ed Temple, Gratts
Review: He may have officially ended his "Balearic but bumping" trilogy, but Belgian-in-Australia Gratts continues to deliver dancefloor workouts inspired (in part, at least) by the White Isle of Ibiza. In its' original 'Version Vocal' form, Moody Mae and Jaj hook-up 'Nuit De Fievre' is a gorgeous chunk of fluid, string-laden organic disco with lashings of Balearic sunshine. The version that follows, the Pellegrino Nottata Stellata Remix, leans into this more, canninly combining acoustic and machine drums with lashings of extra synth sounds. Elsewhere across the EP you'll find instrumental and 'bonus drums' takes - the latter emphasising the quality of Gratts percussion programming - and a sweet English language version called 'Fever Pains'.

Submerge Me (BSBF bonus drum tool) - (3:35) 117 BPM
Review: Belgian producer Gratts teams up with Eleanor 'Mr' Beale on a laidback release that sits somewhere between deep house, Balearica, nu-jazz and trip-hop. Gently lolloping hand percussion with an Afro feel sets the pace from the outset, with Beale's jazzual vocal only emerging around the 1:20 mark. Add some lingering chords and you've got a track that wouldn't have sounded out of place on a mid-90s 'Rebirth Of The Cool' compilation. An accompanying remix from French stalwart Gilb'r pushes the track more firmly towards jazz-house, while the package is completed by a self-explanatory Bonus Drum Tool.

Review: Belgian-in-Australia Gratts draws his "Balearic but bumpin'" trilogy to a triumphant close with 'Rhythm of Love', a sun-splashed, musically expansive deep house number featuring piano solos aplenty, jazzy bass guitar, loose-limbed 4/4 drums, simmering synth strings and an utterly gorgeous lead vocal from Cata Mansikka-aho. Gratts offers up his own 'Daydreamin' Instrumental' - an intricately detailed, subtly effects-laden affair that's every bit as alluring as the vocal version - before British deep house, Balearic and nu-disco veterans provide their own vocal and instrumental takes. Their versions are, if anything, even better than Gratts' superb originals, with the Lee brothers' successfully re-inventing the track as a kaleidoscopic Balearic nu-disco anthem in the making. In a word: essential!

Review: Earlier in the year, Gratts made his bow on Wolf Music Recordings via a fine three-track trip into woozy, semi-organic deep house territory piled high with jazzy instrumental flourishes. Here the Adelaide-based Belgian returns to his own label, Be Strong Be Free, with vocalist Ange Nawasadio in tow. 'Jour De Fete' is a similarly warm, fluid and groovy affair with notes of disco, piano house and - most surprisingly - swamp funk, with tons of classy live instrumentation and - on the 'version originale' - French language vocals. Conrad McDonnell of Idjut Boys fame provides the obligatory remixes in his distinctive dubbed out style, with the TB-303 bassline-propelled 'Quokka Dub' being followed by the even more wayward, heady and intoxicating 'Quokka Pup Dub', where delay-laden flashes of Harmonica and vocal catch the ear.

Review: Belgian born, Australia-based producer Gratts returns with a sun kissed serving of Balearic tinged bliss here titled "Sun Circles" which inaugurates Adelaide-based label Be Strong Be Free. A song he penned for his two young sons, it is a dreamy vocal-led deep house tune featuring all the right elements, recorded over the last 18 months in various studios. Gratts enlisted musicians such as New Zealand-born legend Nathan Haines, London's Mr Beale, as well as Belgians Jasper Hautekiet, Levi Wynants and Frederik Kuhn. Berlin-based Alex Kassian provides an entrancing version on the flip, that's perfect for watching the sunset while poolside.
