Review: Here we see breakbeat favourite Alex Wicked making a highly anticipated return to the Beat By Brain imprint with two absolute corkers, showcasing why he really is seen as the man of the minute. We begin with the title track 'Hold On', a chord driven shellout stuffed tightly with intricate drum rhythms and powerful bass leads, topped with a progressive texture which evolves throughout. On the flip we have 'Blood On The Butterflys', a more old school, 8bit driven composition, scattering acidic synths and sharp drum grooves into exciting patterns, perfect to shake a leg in a dance.
Review: For this breakbeat madness, Alex Wicked brings himself forward via Beat By Brain on a two track project that is set to knock your socks off. Rough cut breakbeat slices take the lead on 'Diablo' which pulses away amidst grinding subs and some classic vocal samples. On the flip, 'Anthem' steps it up a gear as the basslines become more pronounced over crackling breakbeat drumsteps. Both of these will be causing serious damage in damages up and down the country!
Review: The electro breakbeat collaboration movement really is back in the swing of it as of late, and this two track project from Alex Wicked is a really good representation of where the crossover genres are at. The title track 'Osiris' is full to the brim of electronic melodies, played out on writhing reese synths, whilst 'Next Level' is more of a gritty grind out, focussing on twisted bass synths and punchier drum selections, infused with dubstep like LFO's. Great stuff from Alex Wicked and the Beat By Brain camp.
