Review: John Digweed presents Futuro: a 25-track compilation celebrating 25 years of his hugely influential Bedrock label (established in 1999). Taking in the likes of Bushwacka with tracks like "Lectrobee" to the "Bleu Cobalt" studio collaboration between Digweed, Nick Muir, and Captain Mustache - other notables here include label legends and associates like Marco Bailey, David Morales and Rodriguez Jr. Replete with uplifting melodies, pulsating rhythms and progressive hose suggestions, there's extra slices of techno from Raxon, next to select cuts by Sasha Carassi, Lost Desert, and Weska all the more. Bedrock's best.

Review: Big tune here on Bedrock this week by emerging Hungarian producer NorB and Toronto-based multitalent juSt b on "Different Places". Story has it that even before they signed the label contract, label co-chief John Digweed was testing out the full vocal mix at Club Space in Miami and fabric London, and the reactions were huge. The production is fully fledged dancefloor drama with an evocative feel throughout, making the perfect backdrop for juSt b's soothing vocal to play centre stage. The second offering comes in the form of the slinky & hypnotic journey "Close Your Eyes".

Review: Bedrock wastes no time in bringing on the quality vibe with its first release this year by Yorkshire based producer/DJ Franky Wah, who had a great 2021 with releases on Last Night On Earth, Club Sweat, and of course Anjunadeep. Here we have the spellbinding hypnotiser that is "Dopa La Vita" with its glassy-eyed and bittersweet vibe throughout, backed by second offering "Mande" which takes a darker turn on this off-kilter minimal tech house cut that's sure to bring on the tunnel vision.

Review: Following up his terrific remix of Miles Atmospheric's "Calling You Out" which received an official release last week on Bedrock, industry legend Josh Wink now returns with a release of his own on John Digweed's esteemed label. "New Year's Eve Acid" first appeared on Digweed's extensive Quattro II mix compilation back in March, in the form of the Beatless Reprise. Featured here is the lean and subtle 303 acid glide of the original version, backed by a sensual and emotive late night rework by Los Angeles-based legend John Tejada - who takes the track into slick dub techno territory.

Review: Miles Atmospheric (real name Miles Sagnia) is a U.K.-based DJ, producer and label curator at Atmospheric Existence Recordings. He made his debut on the esteemed Bedrock imprint with "Calling You Out" being featured on label chief John Digweed's recent Quattro III mix, which now receives a full digital edition with remixes. The original version is a slinky and hypnotic journey into the aether, as a backdrop to The Apparition's haunting monologue. The two featured reworks come from legend Josh Wink (Ovum Recordings) and in fact it was his Paradise Dub that was featured on the aforementioned mix by Digweed, here reinterpreted as an ever more entrancing moment to losing yourself under the strobe lights.

Review: British DJ Aubrey Fry made his name in the early '00s in Brighton, playing regular spots in clubs like the Ocean Rooms, Escape and Funky Buddha Lounge, and later becoming a resident at Stompaphunk. After taking a 15 year break from the scene, Fry is back in a big way, with new material on the esteemed Bedrock label to prove it. After his track "Hard" appeared on label chief John Digweed's Quattro II mix back in March, he now presents a full EP proper here in the form of Dystopia. From the brooding dancefloor drama of the title track with its dramatic symphonies and lurking breaks, there's the slinky and hypnotic euphoria of "Nature" as well as the strobed-out energy flash of "Topaz" packed full of rave motifs like 303 acid and early R&S style mentasms.

Review: More forward thinking progressive sounds as always coming from Bedrock HQ, with this new EP by EdOne: a DJ and producer based in Spain that has released music on labels such as Innervisions, MoBlack, Stil vor Talent and more. Be enthralled by his latest main room exciter "Cramp" featuring the most mesmerising melody you'll hear this year, backed by a rich sonic tapestry of dreamy sounds. The twisted, almost dystopian sonic narrative of "Freedom" is quite reminiscent of his exploits on Dixon & Ame's label recently, and closing it out with the cerebral and introspective epic "Ruled By Inept".

Review: Lopezhouse are a duo consisting of David Lopez and Carlos Cruz from La Mancha, Spain. They return to John Digweed's esteemed Bedrock label after some great releases recently on Hafendisko and Sincopat. Their new Sunburst EP features the strobed-out and entrancing title track, which will entice you onto the dancefloor with its slinky aesthetic, the tech house vibe continues on the infectious minimal bounce of "Midnight Sun", the slo-mo chill house of "Strumming Bridges" and closing out this wonderful outing is the evocative mood music of "Pinksauce" which is perfect to hear as the morning sun comes shining through the windows.

Review: Bedrock takes one step back and three steps forward with this great remix package. Originally released back in 2013, the Japanese Popstars' collaboration with Green Velvet gets first reworked by Coyu. Underpinning Cajmere's vocals with tough drums and a pumping rhythm, the Suara boss delivers a big room re-rub. OC & Verde have done two versions - the pair's remix is an acid-soaked affair with the vocal sample on repeat, while their dub take strips out the vocal and puts a focus on the fusion of acid and eerie synths. The final remix comes from the The Japanese Popstars themselves, with a ravey take on the original.

Review: Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius are Dance Spirit, a Los Angeles-based duo. The combination of Reagan's formal music and computer programming training, with Chris' burning passion for dance music and DJing has created a unique coupling of true creative synergy that has been key to their success - with a new album nearing completion and the launch of their new Communion label and party brand. The mesmerising "Raver Etiquette" is a statement about the ever evolving scene and how they identify with the culture pertaining to their roots. Review: The Berlin-based duo Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier aka Booka Shade return to Bedrock to unveil their second EP for John Digweed's imprint. Following up last year's Rosebud EP., the Get Physical staples and Blauefield Music bosses open this new EP with the moody yet evocative dancefloor drama of "Understanding" complimented by some passionate female vocals. This is followed by the slinky and hypnotising tech house cut "Somus" powered by its ethereal melody and razor sharp bassline. Ending with the powerful peak time cut "Retox" with its adrenalised arpeggio that takes it all the way home.

Review: With an newfound interest around the work of Frankfurt trance legend Oliver Lieb, it's fitting that his latest release comes courtesy of John Digweed's Bedrock imprint. The label head honcho has been a loyal follower of the German's releases for three decades, and who can forget the moment that "Netherworld" by L.S.G. (one of Lieb's more well known aliases) came tearing through on his seminal Northern Exposure 2 mix with sidekick Sasha back in 1997. Lieb's production expertise and knowledge of dancefloor dynamics are on fine display once again on the raw energy of "Red Phosphorus" a seething epic with the most all consuming bassline you'll hear this year, and a sublime array of melodies. This is backed up by the reduced and blissed-out tech house action of "Black Phosphorous and full throttle hypnotic techno banger "Violet Phosphorus".

Review: An exciting new year for electronic music swiftly kicks into gear, as John Digweed's Bedrock label unveils the highly creative new Buraki project. We are not exactly sure who is behind the mysterious project just yet - but whoever it is sure has the label's distinct aesthetic in mind! It has resulted in these three lush cuts. From the slinky and hypnotic "Silk" which is sure to get those strobed-out moments of tunnel vision on the dancefloor, through to the glassy-eyed and evocative "Into The Light Mix" with its humming bassline and rich tapestry of melodies and chords - all building up to an epic climax. The Into The Dark Mix on the other hand is just like the name suggests and ventures into much moodier and atmospheric territory that's perfectly suited to the later A.M. hours.

Review: Bedrock deserves praise for releasing music by Juan Hansen. In his native Argentina, he has impressed with his live performances, and now he teams up with veteran DJ Jimmy Van M to finally release some music. The title track is a squelchy, moody house workout, with Hansen's vocals rising up dramatically over the throbbing low end. On "Madin", the pair focus on an acid-laced groove that builds and builds on the back of rolling snares to reach a dramatic crescendo. The release also contains two fine alternate versions of "Kobalt": the Synthwork take is deeper and pulsating, while on the Anormal rework, a wonderfully dubbed out version prevails. Presumably this is not the last we'll hear of Hansen.

Review: Eleven years ago, at what seemed like the peak of his career during the mid-noughties minimal boom: we wouldn't have imagined French tech hero Lee Van Dowski re-surfacing on John Digweed's reputed Bedrock imprint. Van Dowski never stopped going though; take a look at his discography since and you'll see he's appeared on esteemed imprints such as Ilian Tape, Rekids and more recently Crosstown Rebels and its Rebellion diffusion label. Bedrock is a fitting home for the Nine Lives EP. The title track is a brooding and suspense filled serving of dancefloor drama in the vein of the Life & Death sound while "Ban This" sees him do trance with absolute precision: this features the most razor sharp and elevating arpeggio you'll hear this year! Finally, he ends on a deeper tip with "Miss One" which is similar in style to the last offering but is best described as early evening progressive house mood lighting.

Review: What a trio: Bedrock head honcho John Digweed with fellow progressive house don (and former Underworld member) Darren Emerson with rising star Nick Muir: who all work their magic on this joint effort entitled "Tracer". This moody and hypnotic cut has all the qualities of a Bedrock hit with just the right amount of adrenaline and suspense within its fine arrangement. The remixes are pretty fine too: the aforementioned Emerson steps in to deliver another rendition with the "Womb mix" and it's surprisingly heavy: taking its cues from heavyweight labels like Klockworks or Figure, would you believe? It's impressive and damn fierce. German tech house hero Ruede Hagelstein steps up to the challenge too and delivers a brooding and atmospheric take that's geared for proper dancefloor drama: Berlin style.

Review: Laurence Blake aka Citizenn had been named DJ Magazine's Breakthrough DJ of 2013. He was only just getting started. Following up great releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, W&O Street Tracks and 20:20 Vision, he now the presents this brilliant three tracker on John Digweed's mighty Bedrock. He's sure come a long way since the New Jersey house sound he was smashing out a few years ago; as heard on the epic progressive house euphoria of "Confide". "U Cant Rel8" is another sleek and slinky groove reminiscent of early noughties progressive house, while the EP finishes with a right bang in the form of a tribal tech house stomper that's equally nostalgic: think back to the deep and moody grooves of late nineties tribal tech house by Hipp-E & Halo or Tyler Stadius on "To The Enlightenment"

Review: The work of Kris Needs and Wonder under their Secret Knowledge guise, "Sugar Daddy" was one of the standout moments of early 90s UK progressive house. On the original version, those busy chants, whooshing sound effects and Wonder's pre-orgasmic mutterings still get spines tingling, nearly 25 years later. The same can be said of the legendary "Out Of Our Brains On The 5.15 mix". Re-mastered for this re-issue, its jittery piano keys and rolling drums exude a similar energy to Hardfloor's reshape of Mory Kante's "Yeke Yeke". Label owner Jon Digweed and his long-term collaborator Nick Muir provide a new remix and treat the original respectfully, setting Wonder's wailing vocal to a deep, pulsing groove.

Review: From the dentist's surgery to a club's big room is quite a journey but it's one that Wehbba has achieved with little fuss or hype. The Brazilian producer's latest release - on Jon Digweed's Bedrock - shows why he has managed to come such a long way so easily and seamlessly. "Plurpush" revolves around tough house beats; noisy riffs and acid undercurrents following in their wake. The title track sees Wehbba put a greater focus on his house roots; looping a vocal sample and uniting it with clanging drums and sharp claps he creates his own version of tracky NY house. "Trust" features some of the same elements- notably a vocal snippet and a rolling rhythm - but it has a techno swagger and is shot through with dubby chords.

Review: Ever the perceptive A&R man Jon Digweed signed some Montel tracks to Bedrock's Re:Structured compilation last year. Now he has given him a full release as a platform to flex his creative muscles. He doesn't disappoint. The title track centres on tough kicks, intense filtering and a repetitive 'go' vocal sample. Factor in some doubled up claps and "Semper" is one of the most techno-oriented records in Bedrock's catalogue. "He's Not There" continues in a similar vein; this time it's all about the predatory bass and the rolling snares that sound like Kevin Saunderson's Reese project getting it on with Hardfloor.
