Review: A producer whose previous originals, remixes and bootlegs have found their way into the sets of Riva Starr, Pete Tong, Kissy Sell Out and Dubfire, Josh "Cut & Splice" McInnes is surely going to reach even further with this perfect tribal-tech remake of a stone cold classic. With a glossy, filtered sheen to the production, the re-vocalled chorus is looped majestically over the mainroom beats, making it both a devastating DJ tool as well as a well-timed rehaul of a seminal tune.
Review: Israel's Flash Brothers get their drumline and marching band samples well and truly out of the bag on this huge and unique newie on the Big In Ibiza label. After a drum-only build up (in the same vein as Vitalic's "Fanfares"), the titular salsa motifs start to come in and the whole thing takes off in a hugely unique and fun way. If it's a more conventional house rhythm you're after, Cut & Splice has got you covered with a remix that squeezes the original's vocals into a floor-pounding electro stomp.

Review: Purveyors of all things funky and house, Big In Ibiza's Love Assassins take the reigns for this new collection of sun-kissed house nuggets. The Assassins' own take on Moloko's "Sing It Back" is a highlight, as is Vee Scott's gloriously camp and disco-flavoured "Gimme Your Love". Bassmonkey's mix of Tito Puente Jr's is an unexpected gem, while LA's signature mixes of "The Boy Is Mine" and "Teardrops" are here in full force too.
Various - "Future:Dubstep:04" (continuous DJ mix by MRK1) - (1:17:22) 140 BPM
Review: An enormous 29 track selection of future dubstep faves new and old and perhaps some undiscovered beauties in there too from names like Stenchman, Cotti & Crazy D and more, all bound up nicely with a continuous DJ mix by MRK1. There's a fab blend of driving synth workouts (see "Life Turned Up Loud" or "Broken Box"), dubbed out basslines a la the Hatcha & Lost remix of RMS - "Cold", with some heavy moments (Trowa - "Black Pyramid") and quirky cuts like Stenchman's "Purple Cow". All in all, a comprehensive compilation which ticks all the boxes.
Gotta Be Big (Cut & Splice remix) - (6:30) 124 BPM
Review: Rappers and DJ's Sporty-O and Lasher have rocked many a party across their native America over the last few years and collaborated with fellow hype-merchants Oh Snap!, Deekline, Stanton Warriors and Tommie Sunshine of late. Here, on their reinvention of AVH's classic mix of "Professional Widow", Josh McInnes (aka Cut & Splice) does a great job of working the tag-team vocals into a funky electro stomper, worthy of their label Big In Ibiza and their titular boast. A great job by C&S, with some classic filtering and rises built in, this is a must for fans of the funky stuff.
