Review: Big Love's latest must-check missive comes courtesy of Razor 'N' Tape co-founder and sometime Escort bassist J Kriv, who successfully joins forces with legendary vocalist Angela Johnson on the rather fine 'Not That Serious'. Sitting somewhere between two-step 1980s synth-soul, late '80s New York house and Jam & Lewis style electrofunk, the EP-leading 'Extended Version' is a pleasingly musically detailed affair topped off by a terrific lead vocal from the irrepressible Johnson. It comes backed by a seriously authentic, mid-to-late 1980s style boogie dub from J Kriv that includes a superb vocal breakdown and much more use of the original's synth-horns, rubbery bass guitar and sparkling guitars. A genuine treat!

Review: Just in time for the festive party season, Seamus Haji has gathered together some of Big Love's biggest cuts of 2018. While the package does contain two tidy DJ mixes, it's the wealth of unmixed, DJ-friendly cuts that makes this a "must-buy" for those who enjoy the funky, soul-fired end of the house and disco spectrum. Highlights are naturally plentiful, from Dr Packer's rolling, acid-flecked revision of Haji's big room nu-disco cover of "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" and the piano-sporting disco-house positivity of DJ Meme's "re-touch" of Belezamusica's "Inside Out", to the swirling peak-time disco rush of Birdee's "Dancin", the low-slung, bass-heavy grooves of Cool 45's "We Still Here" and the chunky, stab-happy early morning house bump of Oliver Knight's "I Feel It".

Review: For a long time, Perth's Greg Packer was considered a veteran of the local drum and bass scene, but in the last few years has reinvented himself as Dr Packer - and become one of the best of the best disco editors on the scene at present. It made perfect sense for him to give "Confess" his personal touch for the nu-disco heads, as he was one of the supporters of the track from the very beginning. He stays faithful to the original mix, where he adds an incessant bassline, his trademark beats, disco flourishes and works the arrangement to fever pitch!

Review: Back in the 90s, two fresh faced young DJs Seamus Haji (Big Love) and Aydin (ATFC) met whilst working together at Uptown Records in London (with an even younger Tim Deluxe). The rest as they say, is history. They've not collaborated in ages, so now is as good a time as any to put that right. The Club mix, "Confess" delivers what the pair do best - slammin', chunky, hands-in-the-air diva house that's all about the joy. The original version, based on an old demo of theirs, is less house, and more of a pure disco jam. Good times!
