Cut The Strings (feat Troels Abrahamsen - Nowhere People & Oliver Klostermann remix) - (6:42) 123 BPM
Night Surfing (Booka Shade Rework) - (6:29) 124 BPM
Review: Following up the first volume of remixes of their terrific new LP Cut The Strings, Berlin tech house heroes Booka Shade are not resting on their laurels and they're serving up another collection of renditions on their Blaufield imprint. Rising British star Bontan (Circus/Crosstown Rebels) delivers an absolutely electrifying rendition of "Confession" featuring the most razor sharp arpeggio you will hear this year, label staple Chi Thanh gives us a deeply emotive perspective of "Cut The Strings" (feat Troels Abrahamsen) but trust Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier themselves to provide the EP's highlight: in the form of their hypnotic remix of "Night Surfing" (Booka Shade Rework) which is absolutely wonderful.
Black Crystal (Wes Wieland remix) - (7:06) 127 BPM
Easy Drifter (Claude VonStroke Radio mix) - (4:44) 125 BPM
Review: Berlin tech-house heroes Booka Shade are back on their beloved Blaufield Music, which offers the second remix package after the success of the critically acclaimed Cut The Strings LP - which dropped earlier this year. The duo have approached more fellow artists to provide their own interpretations of the album. The inimitable Claude Vonstroke of the legendary Dirtybird serves up a full length mix of "Easy Drifter" which is as bombastic as you'd expect from the man, but graceful at the same time - in the way that it retains all the evocative qualities of the original and it's a fine effort indeed. By comparison, underground stalwart Yousef 's Circus Rework of "Tyrell" is a sombre and paranoid excursion through minimal house, that's more suited to a Sunday morning afterhour. Finally, they save the best for last with the adrenalised peak time stomper "Black Crystal" remixed by rising Berliner Wes Wieland. This will appeal to fans of nefarious main room missives on labels like Suara or Senso Sounds.
Review: Celebrated German House music legends Booka Shade are back with a bit of help from American expat in Berlin Chelonis R Jones on the Blackout Ep. Expect bouncy, slinky, late night tech house that Is heard on the title track and the adrenaline fueled grit of "Glory Box" while "Karrera" is definitely the more uplifting and positive of the bunch.
Review: Following releases from 8Kays, Pongo and Moonwalk, electronic music legends and pioneers of the scene Booka Shade return to their Blaufield Music label with a new single! Still full of progression and that undeniable melancholic, uplifting streak of trance that runs through their music; melodies, overtones and underlays converge in the subdued epic "Acid Brain". "Red Medina" reduces itself to a bassline house number perfect for the Ibiza dancefloor or setting the scene for the duo's next smoke filled, laser lit arena. Booka Shade bounce back.
