Chase Back - (4:04) 64 BPM
Noon To - (7:56) 64 BPM
Make The Switch (Mark Fell remix) - (6:20) 129 BPM
Review: This is the second release in a trilogy by shadowy producer Spaces, who co-produced a track on Bjork's most recent Vulnicura album, so he's definitely on to big things. Starting with the pounding IDM workout of "Make The Switch" things get really weird on "Chase Back" with its weird alien sound design carrying an odd sense of funk. The mechanical motions of "Noon To" are rather curious to say the least. As is the Mark Fell remix of "Make The Switch" which glitches and stutters about the place in his trademark way.

Review: And just like that, London's Bleep label drops a new single by a new artist. We know near to nothing about Zap Francis, but it's easy to hear that he'll be sticking around that we'll hear more and more form him in the future. His self-titled debut, an extended EP, is a perfect blend of outsider electronics that have been given a house coating. The opener "Scuffer" is itself the sort of house tune that you'll listen to at home or walking, not just in a club, and the rest of the tunes follow in the same vein. "Igma"is a gorgeous groove of polyphonies and watery drum machine beats, but our favourite on here is "Moving Signals" for its chilled, hazy, laid-back approaching verging on the funky. Top.

Wa Chacha
Nozinja - "Wa Chacha" (Nozinja version) - (4:17) 86 BPM
Tessela - "Wa Chacha" (Tessela version) - (4:45) 64 BPM Hot
Review: Crossing cultural and continental divides, this experiment from Bleep finds Shangaan Electro pioneer Nozinja bringing his South African soul to these shores in an exchange with Tessela, a producer whose sound is firmly rooted in the identity of UK electronica. Nozinja's original is a sprightly affair that will appeal to any fans of the Honest Jons Shangaan Electro series of 2012; rich in rapid-fire drum patterns and resplendent with sweet vocal harmonies. Tessela's version of "Wa Chacha" unsurprisingly gets much grubbier, pulling up a wealth of bass-loaded sound design and crafty rhythmic hooks without side-stepping some of the colour that makes Nozinja's source material so energised.

That Horn Track (Incl. Dettmann Remix)
That Horn Track - (4:32) 128 BPM
That Horn Track (Dettmann remix) - (8:09) 64 BPM Hot
Review: Originally released as part of the Bleep tenth anniversary compilation, Untold's "That Horn Track" gets a standalone release here and this time around it's packaged with a Dettmann remix for good measure. The original is a clamouring masterpiece of sound design, full of the diffuse sonic fragments and barely recognisable rave tropes that Untold loves to reach for and yet achieving a kind of monstrous soul in the midst of the chaos. Dettmann unsurprisingly simmers the original into a more delineated techno throwdown riding on an ominous thudding kick, but there's still plenty of space given to the textural ingredients to ensure it's a distinctive cut.

Review: Representing a spread of some of the strongest operators in the ever-more fractious world of electronica, Bleep celebrates ten years of operations with this strong package of exclusive tracks. The styles run the gamut from nervy droning sub-techno courtesy of Gas through to Nathan Fake's charmingly fuzzy melodic bombast. Notable inclusions come from Machinedrum with an excellent line in live drum funk, Autechre refiguring the slow jam as a hallucinatory march, and Shackleton turning out some fiery percussive patterns. When the cast also includes Lone, Oneohtrix Point Never, Untold and many more besides, who needs any more convincing?

The Black Dog - "Scan 9 From SoYoa" - (6:02) 130 BPM
Happa - "Red Place" - (7:39) 129 BPM Hot
Review: Is it a case of age before beauty as electronic veterans The Black Dog line out with wunderkind Happa for the fifth and final release of Bleep's Green Series? Certainly the Sheffield trio's many years of experience come to the fore on "Scan 9 From SoYo", where subtle metallic pulses provide the basis for a bass that builds and builds until it resembles a steel mill in its stature and power. There are no such subtleties on Happa's "Red Place". Instead, the newcomer uses layer upon layer of drones and textures to cover a throbbing, distorted rhythm track that fizzles and crackles with all the energy of Lenny Dee on downers.

Marcel Dettmann - "Ride" - (6:49) 130 BPM Hot
Lucy - "Slaves' March" - (7:37) 124 BPM
Review: The techno-fuelled offshoot of Bleep continues apace after excellent installments from Redshape, Steffi, Objekt and Cosmin TRG amongst others. This time the techno gets even more serious as Marcel Dettmann takes up one side with the snappy "Ride". It's a playful kind of banger to be fair, injecting a funky little swing into the propulsive beats not least thanks to the prominent clap, while the synth is a catchy motif that brings plenty of light into the surroundings. Lucy's way on "Slave's March" is more obtuse, wantonly plunging into a quagmire of dub techno, gorging your senses on reverb decays and subtle, linear progression as unfurled by a master of sonic poise.

Objekt - "Shuttered" - (5:36) 133 BPM Hot
Cosmin TRG - "Auster" - (5:48) 125 BPM
Played by: Slam
Review: Continuing the nascent Bleep Green series of releases, Warp's faithful online arm draws on two surefire success stories that in many ways define the crossover between techno and dubstep, albeit in different ways. Objekt is in limber form, firing off ricocheting electro drum patterns in a densely realised soundworld of subtle hum and cell-quaking sub bass. Cosmin TRG is in a slower 4/4 driven mood, but there's a continued embrace of dystopian tones that matches Objekt's own malaise. As the acid slowly edges its way into the song structure, it's clear there is no light at the end of this particularly dank tunnel.

Karenn - "Studio 3" - (5:40) 132 BPM Hot
The Analogue Cops - "OCPLX1" - (5:25) 125 BPM
Review: This new label from Warp's digital operation, Bleep, hungrily captures two of the world's most talented techno production duos at the height of their powers. In the UK corner, it's Pariah and Blawan working as Karenn. "Studio 3" is a swampy, bludgeoning affair, its pounding, pummeling beats mixed with a muddy, swampy bassline and some of the most outrageously over the top analogue riffs since Jeff Mills at his prime. In the German corner it's Berlin-based Italian duo The Analogue Cops. "OCPLX1" sounds less upfront because the beats are more lo-fi and not as loud in the mix, but make no mistake about it, the combination of firing percussion and eerie chords are highly effective.

Review: Comprised of the results of a competition run by Bleep, Filtered gathers together ten unsigned artists cherry-picked from over 4000 submissions. As you might imagine the style ranges all over the shop, but there's really stand-out material on offer. Gidi's "Move" rolls on an addictive breakbeat, using a powerful soundsystem sub bass for maximum rave delight at the drop. ImagineIAM excels with his deranged "Slang", as a room of shouty vocals duel with mind-boggling kinds of organic percussion arranged into a punchy kind of funk. S P A C E S also deserves special mention for the razor-sharp slices and awkward time signatures that make "Apologies" such an ear-grabbing listen.
