Founded in 2007 in Leipzig, Bondage Music is a prominent label dedicated to electronic music. With a strong focus on this genre, they have already released tracks by renowned artists such as Mihai Popoviciu, Miguel Lobo, Markus Homm, Pornbugs, Beatamines, Dole & Kom, Super Flu, and many other talented musicians.
Review: Since first appearing on the label back in 2016, Romanian scene stalwart (and sometime Poker Flat regular) Mihai Popoviciu has made regular returns to Pornbugs' Bondage Music imprint. Even so, 'Echo Audio' marks Popoviciu's first appearance on the label for two years. He starts in confident mood via 'This', a bumping, peak-time ready chunk of energetic deep house marked out by a chunky bassline, sweat-soaked drums and spacey synth sounds, before opting for a more tech-house-meets-deep house flavour on the hypnotic and mind-altering 'Jewel'. Pornbugs remixes 'Only', wrapping tactile synths and dub techno style motifs around a rock-solid groove, while Frink turns 'This' into a deep, dubby and dreamy treat.
Review: Pure, classic, techy and deep house minimalisms from Arkady Antsyrev, a producer that's been true to the game since 2016. For this release on Bondage music he cooks up a perfect recipe for the Berlin after hour, going deep-deep-deep in the title-track "Spin". With techier acid numbers to be found in "Never", "My Helper" sends in something druggy and dubbed out for that classic slice of 2010s minimal - while the choice deep house cut of the EP goes to "Traps". Tips for the deep end.
Review: While Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu have also contributed to the series, the majority of Bondage Music's 'Deep Value' compilations have been curated by label founder Pornbugs. He's back at the helm on volume seven, a 17-track trawl through the label's back catalogue bundled with a mixed version created by the artist himself. In keeping with the label's output, what's on offer is a great selection of unmixed, DJ-friendly deep tech-house excursions full to bursting with tactile grooves, warming basslines, hypnotic beats and dreamy early morning motifs. Highlights include (but are in no way limited to) the rubbery excellence of 'Quantum' by Frink, the yearning, sunrise-ready shimmer of 'No Fly Zone' by Sarap Ozaydin, and the trippy, sub-heavy brilliance of Arkady Antsyrev's 'Spin'.
Review: Although he's released music on many labels (Still Hot 8Bit and Poker Flat included), Markus Homm seems to have a particularly good relationship with Leipzig's Bondage Music. It's that imprint that's chosen to snap up his long awaited (and long promised) debut album, 'After Dark'. Typically atmospheric, groovy and at times quietly picturesque, the set's heavily electronic, unashamedly club-focused tracks do a fine job in blurring the boundaries between tech-house and deep house. Highlights include, but are in no way limited to, the wide-eyed sunrise shuffle of 'Blue Mountian', the soft-touch tech-house hush of 'I Can Get (feat Zoe)', the deep-tech-house wonder of 'I Wish' and the subtly dubby, undeniably intergalactic hypnotism of 'Homesick'.
Review: Following releases on Djebali, Blind Vision Dubs and Shelvd, Alex Ranerro returns to Bondage Music for the first time in two years. The Slovenian producer has predictably brought the goods, too, delivering tracks that blur the boundaries between tech-house, deep house and more trance-inducing sonic flavours. The undoubted highlight is title track 'Fragments', a shuffling, undulating and atmospheric chunk of peak-tine tech-house toughness marked out by an addictive bassline, echoing electronic motifs, chiming synth sounds and smooth beats. Lola Palmer remixes, delivering an algother deeper, dreamier and more tactile interpretation, before label chiefs Pornbugs rework previous single 'Radiation', delivering a darker, more hypnotic and pleasingly bass-heavy take. Bonus cut 'Encode', an East End Dubz style late-night workout, completes a solid package.
Review: Buoyed by a recent outing on Brise Records, Pornbugs return to Bondage Music, the label they launched way back in 2006. There are two original productions to savour: lead cut 'Juvania', a hypnotic early morning workout in the Berlin tech-house style rich in deep sub-bass, hushed riffed, subtle percussion builds, drifting melodic motifs and echoing vocal snippets, and the more forthright, mind-altering throb of 'Mudita'. Pornbugs' original mix, which makes great use of fluid electronic motifs and druggy bass, is reworked by Alexander Matchak, who opts for a sparser, stripped-back, funk-fuelled tech-house sound. It's an excellent remix all told and a fabulous alternative take.
Review: Those Pornbugs are at it again! Back on their beloved Bondage Music, this one sees the two Svens take you on a tour through slinky and hypnotic late night vibes on the emotive "Bodhi". As a bonus, the Leipzig-based pair have tapped Dave Pad (Forestrip) on remix duties, who delivers some dubby tech house on the deeper tip that's not too dissimilar to his acclaimed work of late on Nite Grooves and Highway.
Review: Almost eight years after his last full-length outing hit stores, Frankfurt veteran Sascha Dive has finally got round to recording and releasing his third solo album. As you'd expect given his vast experience, Back 2 Life is impeccably produced and polished, with Dive wisely opting for a melodious, atmospheric and hypnotic sound that smartly combines elements of Teutonic tech-house, All Day I Dream style melodic house, deep house and dub-flecked minimalism. It's a formula that guarantees ear-pleasing thrills throughout, with our picks of a very strong bunch including the hazy outer-space shuffle of 'Let's Get It On', the deliciously tuneful and picturesque title track and the immersive, sub-heavy hypnotism of Whispering Voices'.
Review: Jurgen Kirsch returns to Leipzig, Germany's Bondage Music with the Sa Barca EP. Residing in Nuremberg, the Die Rakete resident follows up some impressive releases on labels like on Stil Vor Talent, Circle Music and Great Stuff in recent times. Features the hypnotic dub techno influence of "Nautilus", and delving deeper into icy waters on the sensual and emotive mood music of "Esplendido" and ending with the title track which is a lean and subtle minimal house affair - aimed squarely at the afterhours dancefloor.
Review: Ross Kiser is a DJ and producer from the rocky mountains of Denver, Colorado who has had previous releases on Curated, Sit Down Recordings and Blindvision. He returns on Leipzig's Bondage Music to present his follow up release titled Sleepless Nights with three original compositions. There's certainly some great tackle on here; from the swing-fuelled and hypnotic tech house of "Seduced" which will appeal to fans of the 'Rominimal' sound, to the glacial yet cavernous dub house of "Feel Right" which is as emotive as you like it, and the sensual late night mood music of the title track - Kiser delivers a solid EP from start to finish.
Review: It's well known by now that Romanian tech house hero Mihai Popoviciu is a staple of Leipzig-based Bondage Music. A few years ago they released his excellent Home LP (and the great remix package that followed) and finally we get the follow up here. It's titled Azul and features a bunch of typically deep and emotive grooves that are all in his inimitable style. From the hypnotic 'Rominimal' vibe of the title track, to the equally mesmerising and dub-laden groove of "Tristesse" and the trippy minimal funk of "Gazoo" - all-in-all it is perfect tackle for the warm-up or afterhours alike.
Review: Bondage Recordings chiefs Pornbugs return on their beloved imprint with more surefire tech house for the main room on these two fine cuts. First up we have the deep and sensual bounce of "Fiducia" taking in a dub laden vibe as always, followed by the warm up mood music of "Unas Gotas" which receives a tremendous rework by Dutch dub techno hero Roger Gerressen (Irenic) - taking the track into typically cavernous and glacial realms with added dancefloor dynamics.
Review: Leipzig's Bondage Music returns with a massive compilation featuring 20 tracks, all in the label's distinct style of deep and sensual tech house. If that was not enough, the label bosses Sven & Sven aka Pornbugs deliver a continous mix, working those selections to perfection on each of their journeys. Highlights are not limited to: Mihai Popoviciu and NTFO delivering some rolling and hypnotic 'Rominimal' vibes on "Gazoo" and "Key Part" respectively, London's James Dexter delivering a typically emotive afterhours minimal groove on "Come In" while Pornbugs themselves serve up the slinky "Precocious Life" before the return of Swiss scene stalwart Dachshund on "Instant".
Review: Following up some great ones recently by the likes of Dilby, Alex Ranerro and Frink, German label Bondage is back with label staple Markus Homm. On his latest track titled "I Don't Blame You", you can be sure that it's another late night adventure, where the 'safe word' is groove - a signature close to Homm's heart. Sensual and evocative mood music for the late night with a dubby and bass-driven vibe, it receives a more energetic and upbeat remix by the ever reliable Frenchman Djebali, packed full of swing-fuelled and groovy minimal style as always.
