Engine Worms - (4:10) 174 BPM Hot
Doberman - (4:19) 174 BPM
Review: 'Engine Worms'... Worms that eat engines? Or worm feed for engines? No one actually know besides Asura. But we do know that these tunes are high grade. The title track is a trippy, slippery minimal affair with big pulsating subs heaving away beneath Critical-like patterns and motifs. 'Doberman' meanwhile goes barking mad with the sound design and strange off-beat percussive knocks and hits. Armed with a simple-but-cosmic breakdown, the real treat is that second drop. Growler!

Review: Sweet as a nut mate! Following his hugely prolific 2021, D-Flex cracks open a fine bottle of 2022 with this massive four track debut on Bulletproof. 'Sweet Love' says it all; late 2000s era D*Minds style bass barks, a sleazy groove and brick-like beats. It's backed up all the way with more greasy weirdness; 'Live & Direct' plays with those higher range harmonics as he links up with Froidy, 'Remedy' balances a big euphoric intro with a absolutely potty bass riff while 'Anything But You' closes the EP with a series of very impressive wobbles and warps. Feel the love!

Review: As Bulletproof look to round off the year in style, they welcome the lively production styles of Puzio inside for a very exciting five track display, kicking off with the bulbous drum crunches and sweeping LFO designs of 'Touch Down' for a lively introduction. From here, more colourful melodic drives arrive in the high energy arrangements of 'Ground Level', before Neman jumps on board for some additional assistance on the slightly darker designs of 'Dissent', which again seems certain to rattle a few systems over the course of the next few months. After this we jump into our highlight from the project as 'Guard Up' delivers a rave-ready melodic lead, inspiring a lighters-up atmosphere from the moment it drops, all before wrapping up with Neman's jump up inspired rethink of 'Touch Down', signing out the EP with one final additional dash of energy.

Review: Hot on the heels of Vital's massive 'Golden City' last month, APOM comes charging into the Bulletproof HQ, slams his hat down on the table and demands a game of Texas Hold'em. The dealer serves up to the gritty bassline swagger of 'Hustler', APOM sticks as the tightly coiled spring groove of 'Over & Over' twists round and round before claiming victory to the pranged out bounces and slaps of 'Obi'. The hustler never loses.

Review: Fresh off of their fifth birthday celebrations, the UK's Bulletproof Records have a wicked schedule of releases lined up in the coming months, including this new one by Daniel Peters aka Vital, who returns with his third release on the label. The Bournemouth-based producer is on fire on the Golden City EP, which features six furious cuts such as the subterranean neurofunk of "Smokers" and the seething atmospherics of "Lost Love", in addition to steppers such as "Blown Cover" (VIP) with its jump-up vibe and the nasty roller "Pest" which closes it out.

Goldilocks & The Three Beers
Goldilocks & The Three Beers - (4:45) 175 BPM Hot
Bounce Itch - (4:53) 175 BPM
Review: Don't believe the fairy tale; Goldilocks didn't have a kip on baby bear's bed because she was full of porridge or tired after her walk through the woods. No. She had a nap there because she's had three beers...And this is the soundtrack to the dreams she had. Bendy bass moans, glacial pads and a general sense of unease (probably because she's half-cut and sleeping on some random kids bed in a house she's trespassing in) combine to create the dark funk we've come to expect from Damage Report. For the soundtrack to Goldilocks running away check 'Bounce Itch' as it catches the same energy as someone running for their life through the woods. Drinking's bad for you.

Review: Owls Of Filth are on Bulletproof and are giving all of us a lesson in how to produce tough, stripped back sonics which carry more attitude than a rhino in heat. 'Pressure' is the best example of this, as a no-nonsense drum line penetrates a precisely placed array of gully bass pulls and hair-rising low-frequency pushes. The others tend towards more classic jump-up, as a potent blast of stabs combine into the type of hands-in-the-air dancefloor action we've come to expect from the genre. Proper stuff, and the build-up on "The Feeling' a genuinely awe-inspiring way of building suspense and tension. Unmissable.

Review: Argentinian producer Yatuza teams up with Master Error for these two supreme howlers on Bulletproof. 'Stop It' takes the lead with a heavily punctuated rhythm and blocky snares creating the playground for the bassline to mess around in. Loaded with a great spoken sample, it's an all-out riot jam that will make you do anything but stop. It's backed by the slightly deeper tones of 'Motion Sickness', a track that bumps and grinds with a more subtle bassline, jazzy chords and a vital remix from Asura. Start it.

Review: Fresh from dropping his epic 'Ravers Anthem' earlier this year, Danger returns with four more examples of his savage skills. We start the journey with 'Evidence', a really interesting tune laced with floaty retro samples and a real growler of a bassline. Elsewhere 'Attack' goes on the early 2000s Bristol vibe with a tongue-in-cheek rising riff before 'The System' breezes in with some beautiful skippy breaks and a bassline so rude your mum's already banned it from the house. Finally Danger links with Magenta for the rubber ball bassline bullet 'The Law'. Unbreakable.

Review: Bulletproof are doing us all a favour with this release, simply because it's such a good collection of rolling and chopped up beats. Bulletproof FC is a vibes-heavy, breaksy release that doesn't take many prisoners. There's a whole load of artists on this particular squad and their respective talents move from grinding jump up to bumping minimality, with Elsy blending those two sonic palettes effectively on 'Feel For You'. There is industrial jump-up on 'Elephant March', as well as an especially big cut on 'On My Back', as well as other flavours mixed in. Wicked.

Review: Over on Bulletproof, things are getting heated as Stillz lands on the label for a rambunctious four-tracker with more attitude than a bull in heat. The title tune takes the cake for us as the standout, with a moody yet simple arrangement carved from an iceberg synth dripping in both tech and jump-up aesthetics. 'Looking for an Idea' takes things down a more foghorn route, with warped out sonics that bend into devastating low frequency oscillations. What an EP.

Review: Magenta is back, using his force to compel you to pull ugly bassfaces and throw your drink with an EP that doesn't hold back. Its not the kindest on the ears but then again it's not supposed to be, it's a monograph in hard-hitting sonics and dastardly tones. It's multiple versions of 'Go Crazy' and they're all undergirded by a booming snare drum and percussive clarity, but the action happens in the steadily melodic but still raucous bassline, a pitched-up monstrosity of dancefloor proportions. The Vital remix isn't one you'll want to miss, but the VIP of the original from Magenta himself pips the others at the post for pure naughtiness.

Review: Maze is building up a name for himself as someone who never fails to bring out the big guns with his music. It's always heavy, hard-hitting and built on soundscapes and vibes which are deeply urban. His Embrace EP on Bulletproof is no different and it kicks off with 'Charlie', a stabby roller with a bassline that stretches out over the horizon, the only constant being its grinding, coarse nature and the manner in which it constantly mutates and evolves. 'Soldier' is equally as rough but less rolling and more jungley, its structure and nature constantly changes and it keeps the tune sounding consistently fresh. This whole EP is absolute vibes.

Review: Bulletproof have a bit of a reputation for spewing out some of the most venomous beats in the business and their talent for pushing some of the best artists on the jump-up spectrum is undeniable. Danger is holding up that standard and he's doing it in style, something clear right from the start of this EP. 'Paperchase' reels you in with hip-hop driven, rolling energy, that quickly flips into a siren-like wail of pure, stabbing energy that's reminiscent of Annix and insanity more generally. The rest of the release is equally aggressive, 'On My Back' being another highlight, and we especially love the glitching funk 'Human Error'. Sick release.

Review: Bulletproof have been featured quite a few times on this site and it's because they tend to know how to roll out the punches, both in terms of consistency and also the pure venomous nature of their music. Dub Sense is up this time around and he's banging things out the window with his Raise Hell EP, a four-tracker that constitutes familiar territory for all those who love a good dancefloor. 'Shot Ya' is the first track and it's also our favourite, a deeply distorted riff of gargled bass notes and twisting emphases, it's gnarly stuff and effortlessly heavy. Wicked.

Kre & Basshoven - "Trippin" (Silent Storm remix) - (4:28) 175 BPM Hot
Review: This is a joint single from two artists we're not overly familiar with, on a label we're also not massively familiar with. Neither of those things matter though when the music is as good as it is here, with one tune being a Silent Storm remix, the other a Silent Storm original. 'Your Demand Refix 2019' packs a fantastic set of well-layered drums which carry all the energy through the tune, energy which seeps into its creative low-frequency blend of wobbles and pulses which are literally dying to be played out through a sound system. 'Trippin' is steppier, less fluid but more broken and sharper, with Benny L-esque bass stabs that ricochet from its hard-hitting drum line. Top tunes.

Dirty Shoes - (4:29) 175 BPM
Review: Zeba is backing it up over on Bulletproof with a tight sounding single. 'Cocaine' has, admittedly, some slightly questionable sampling but it definitely fits well with the spirit of the tune: a dark, moody jump-up banger with fat synths and that doesn't care about rules and certainly doesn't care about feelings. The main bass on this tune oozes quality and packs some serious weight, reminiscent of the Souped Up crew. 'Dirty Shoes' is slightly less crazy and thereby lacks some of the sophistication but, nevertheless, packs a nice little punch and also smacks of Souped Up sounds. Tasty bits here.

Review: Over on Bulletproof, they've come up with the aptly titled Kevlar Vest EP, a various artists compilation comprised of four absolute weapon we presume are the need for Kevlar protection. Vital is perhaps the best-known producer on the release and his tune 'Blown Cover' is full-throttle from the start, a quick paced intro quickly leading into a metallic convergence of energy that's palpable on the drop, its KoTR pedigree clearly audible for all to hear. 'Elections' by Magenta is the other highlight, a screecher that is both painful and beautiful on the ears, a tune perfectly designed to make election day far less depressing with some genuine excitement. This is a top collection of tracks.

It's the freedom embodied by the sort of music that honestly doesn't care what you think, doesn't care what you say about it and the type of people that flock to this musical ethos. Weighing in at five tracks, with some top shelf collaborations, this is one of his biggest EPs to date. Highlights include the wobbled out bass and cockney sample on "Raves" (with Sinu8), the raucous sandpaper funk frazzles of "Natural Habitat" and the sick balance of pure euphoria and utter grit on the title track with Purcell. Use these "Keyz" wisely and you'll go far...

After over five years of releases on labels such as Bass Legion, Clawhammer, Dub Voltage and Sub-Liminal, new gen jump scientist Vital delivers his debut album Nightfall. Highlights include the high voltage bass buzzes of "AK47", the mystic skank and burping bass of "Different Style" and the trippy eeriness of the album title track. Elsewhere "Surrender" is one of the most mischievous tracks of the pack with cheeky harmonics and a riff and switch up that can't help but make you grin while "Knives For A Pro" will have you wishing you were 50s Cockney gangster. Vital by name... Essential by nature.

Review: If you're looking for a naughty jump-up release that'll make your mates jealous, Danger's Power is for you. The title track doesn't ease you in slowly, quite the opposite, as an attitude-ridden low-end head nods you into a hysterical bassline, a siren of energy. Adult Conversation featuring Maze is equally no-nonsense, with a gratingly pulsating feel that's hard to shake off. Hell is aptly named; frenetic, whirlwind synths progress nicely into wall-moving wobbles, underpinned by probably the best drums on the release. Finally, Good & Bad featuring Nightfang, the rude cousin of the family that never buys anyone a Christmas present. With its monstrous squelches surrounded by a high-end flurry of sound and a vocal sample that injects some humanity, this tune is simply huge.

"Selfish" sets the scene with its all-out sandpaper riff and sudden swoop into ravey bliss on the breakdown. "Lies" takes a more leftfield route with a Serum-style slimy Q&A while "Code Red 2017" dusts off the chainsaw and cuts us all down a peg or three. Finally we hit "Artificial". The stankiest stinkier of the set; one buzz on those alien bass textures and you'll be speaking in tongues.

Review: Bulletproof make another high profile return on this one as they employ the production services of Syndax for a jump up special! We kick off with the metallic gritty skips of "Three Vision" and the uniquely designed bass synths of "Bullshit". The title track really levels the EP up another notch with squelching leads running riot amidst super punchy drum selections. The EP then rounds up nicely with "Like A Dogz" which is a tearout teaming with Defmatik. This one will be rocking dances nationwide come the weekend!

Trippin - (4:27) 175 BPM
Review: Get to the safe space! Kre & Basshoven are "Trippin" monkey balls and anything could, and probably will, happen. With a rasping metallic bassline rattling around the room like angry scorpion, pummelling, heavily drums, a range of weird, head-bending textures and a riff you'll be humming from here to the psychiatrist's this is one heavy dosage. Fasten your seatbelts: this is clunk click every trip.

Review: Bulletproof invite Belgian badman Maze to the party and he's pretty chuffed about the situation. Bringing a load of mates along for the ride, fun is high on the agenda throughout; "Lumpy" (with Emilian Wonk" is a trippy toytown affair with the grottiest bassline you'll hear this side of hades. "Happy" (with Quantix) coughs and splutters positive vibes in the most menacing, tenacious way while "Elephant March" tears up every known rule of the jungle book and stampedes straight into your heart while "Gingerpower" pays homage to the redheads with raw passion and a few cheeky f-bombs along the way. Happy days.

Review: Fresh from remixing Hizzleguy, Silent Storm lets rip into the new year with two almighty shock-outs. "Rise Of Time" opens with a big synth-lashed dancefloor intro before hurling you into a dizzy, filtered quacking bassline while "Your Demand" shows off Silent Storm's funkier side with some precision chiselled horns that drop into a riff so hooky you'll be signing up at the clinic. Silent is golden.

Review: Few of us could avoid Trafalgar's "Partners" last year with its militant rifle-like hook and face-melting beats. Now he's opened up the game for more partners to join the grit franchise. Tisoki adds a little savage harmony a la Macky Gee, Jack The Ripper maintains the gnarly factor with more laser flinging while Quantix adds some serious leftfield sci-fi funk and Arrax tweak the lasers to planet (and face)-melting levels. Complete with a killer VIP from the man himself, this is less of an offer to partner up and more of a straight up marriage proposal. The answer's yes Trafalgar - just tell us when and where.

Review: It's getting cold outside, winter's creeping in. If there's a better time to don our glitter mittens, it's now. But why stop at wearing them when you can dance to them, mix them and hail them as a banging debut album? Cue Defmatik, a Manchester man of dazzling cloth digits who's packing his most powerful body of work to date. Running the gully gamut and really nailing his uncompromised signature, highlights across this accomplished collection include the snorting pig bass textures and warped harmonics on "Given", the warm skanks and swinging drums on "Escape", the extra spiky laser funk on the title track and the Rupture-ready breaks on "Wisdom". Feel the love, wear the glove.

Review: Woiiii this EP is certainly fire emoji times three! The energy is off the scale. Combing the stamina and aggression of modern jump up with the soul and style of the old school, making this release hard to ignore. Well we know why this is called 'Sucker Punch' this track wakes you up with an almighty smack. There's a lot going on here, sounding like souped up arcade game, listen close and you can almost hear a charged up Super Mario smashing a regally entranced 8 bit Darth Vader. 'World of Sound' is an automatic gun finger track, mutated bass and bubble popping ends will have your feet pounding the dance. 'Apocalyptic' is just simply too much! Intense quick fire lasers make the majority of the track and they're so all-consuming your brain will barely process much else. 'Parallel Dimension' takes it down a notch with a more subdued atmosphere, but just as much distortion.

Review: Bulletproof present a brand new artist Cannon. Little is known about him at this juncture, but the music does more than enough representing as he fires off shots in all directions. "Turn Around" is a grizzly scud with rising chords and a high voltage bassline buzzing and zipping around ferociously underneath. Elsewhere we're soothed by dub textures on the Bladerunnery "Heal Me", we're slapped dizzy but the groaning bass and shaking percussion on "Close Your Eyes" and probed by untoward alien species on the aptly titled lazer-blazing "Invader". A very promising debut!

Review: VIPs in the hole! Two of Bulletproof's biggest club-shakers undergo fire updates from the men themselves. First up is barking badman Kanine who adds a whole new metallic crunch to his woofer-burning "Bad". Tsuki follows in hot pursuit with his modified "Inspector Gadget" where the lower part of the bass Q&A takes much more of a lead with a brand new twist on the hook. Deadly.

Fellow Essex bass chomper and long-time collaborator Purcell features across a great deal of the EP, tagging in on the rough, bulbous roller "Badman", the disco-builder/gritty stamper "Fiend" and the sheet metal groaner "Million Spliff". Elsewhere we hit off-the-wall chaos with ginger ninja Maze on "On It" while Alphaze goes it alone on the giant leaping twostepper "Apollo". Come all ye gremlins... Home is where the sesh is.

Review: Gnawing into the game with brutal behaviour, rising UK talent Killill makes his debut on Bulletproof with two volcanic riff-heavy thrashers. "Backstrappin" gurgles swearwords at you with its swampy slimy bass textures while "Shaolin" is more minimal make-up as the beats swathe through the tight two-step with cutlass supremacy the title suggests. Review: South coast soldier Vital makes his debut on the turbo-charged young label Bulletproof who are already 17 releases deep after seven months of ops! Living up to his name once again, each cut tickles a different corner of D&B's dark underbelly: "Skank Out" is plain lethal with its MC sample, open-hand slap bassline, loose drums and iced textures, "Bossman" fuses a little jungle magic and soundsystem samples with a nagging bouncing riff while "Murder" goes in for the kill with its lower, grumbling bass hook that refuses to quit. Finally "Walking Dead" adds a little mischief as a carnival bassline sizzles and pings its way around a swaggering, mildly skanked two-step. Vital by name....

Review: Belgian laser blazer Trafalgar ain't no square. This hefty four-track Bulletproof EP is proof... With its twisted dynamics and surprises, "Confidential" burns through rules like a spy shreds sensitive papers, "Blind" slams and pops on with a crazy triplet-style drone-fest while "Crash" stutters and growls with a hypnotic staccato bass effect. Finally "Partners" closes the deal with eerie tones on the build up before dropping into another ugly signature jitter riff. Sense melting material.

Review: Remix time: Bulletproof don their protective clothing for two killer versions of two recent tried and tested bangers. First up Tsuki's "Street Wars" continues to develop a life of its own. As the dust settles from the recent VIP, Premium adds a whole new layer of thugged out prang-flavoured bass. K Motionz follows with an equally suited, booted and space-funked twist on Bulletproof's second ever release - Kanine's barking mad "9 Lives". With more to follow, it feels like Bulletproof are only just getting started.

Trouble - (3:39) 175 BPM Hot
Review: The Bulletproof label like to keep it underground, stealthily releasing gargantuan records by the likes of Jack The Ripper, Basstriper and Kanine. Here they signed up the frankly terrifying clown group Tesseract for a mean two-track assault. Having seen what they look like, "Come Play With Us" doesn't strike us as the most tantalising invitation ever, but one listen to the track, with its stop-start steppy beats and tormented metallic bass emissions, and we're won over. On the digital flip "Trouble" with its quack-quack bass notes and movie quote samples is totally bonkers.

"Inspector Gadget" riffs with a Clipz-style infectiousness while "Addiction" tackles serious social challenges with the ugliest, croakiest bassline possible.
