Get On Your Feet
Get On Your Feet - (5:28) 127 BPM
The Solution - (5:51) 116 BPM
Disco Gang - (5:53) 121 BPM Hot
Doing The Boogie - (5:56) 120 BPM
Review: Last year saw Greek edit wunderkind C Da Afro drop two joints on Cardiology amongst a whole load of discofied party fodder for the likes of SpinCat, Sound Exhibitions and more besides. Now he's back on Cardiology with even more goodies to share with the people in the place, leading in with intention through the rabble rousing 'Get On Your Feet'. He's working the filter hard on 'The Solution', teasing the funk until that sweet release on the drop. 'Disco Gang' whips up Backlash's classic '81 stomper 'Hang With The Gang' and gives it a gentle house injection, while 'Doing The Boogie' burrows deep into the groove for a simmering cut to keep the crowd loose and limber.

BEK Again
BEK Again - (7:37) 126 BPM Hot
Remember Da Name - (6:51) 126 BPM
Know About Me - (6:12) 124 BPM
New Funk - (5:12) 118 BPM
Review: Set those filters to stun and get the glitterball rotating, because Italy's Giuseppe Scarano is back with some serious glitzy disco gear on Cardiology. 'BEK Again' boasts a hefty house undercarriage on which the brass, handclaps and funk are transported, a Jackson-esque vocal hook proving to be the cherry on top. 'Remember Da Name' and 'Know About Me' are a little sparser, with a garage beat not a million miles from some of Van Helden or Roger Sanchez's late 90s work, the musical gloriousness squashed down by filters until it's finally allowed to peak and soar. 'New Funk' completes the four track package, a tad slower and funkier with a sublimely wriggling bassline the central factor.

In Your Own
In Your Own - (7:55) 124 BPM Hot
Same For You - (6:24) 130 BPM
Freaky - (5:50) 126 BPM
Best Places - (6:44) 125 BPM
Review: Giuseppe Scarano's musical journey began at a young age, DJing in some of Puglia's best clubs like Clorophilla, Guendalina, Discorama and Heartz Festival supporting top tier DJs before launching NICEPEOPLE in 2018. His latest is on Constant Sound sublabel Cardiology and features four deep and dusty cuts. Things start with the low slung disco loops of 'In Your Own' and the particuarly thumpin' Same For You', and then there's the swing-fuelled deep house of 'Freaky' and some late '90s filtered house in the form of 'Best Places', cleverly sampling a pop classic from the same period.

Groove Engine
The Owl - "Groove Engine" - (4:13) 110 BPM Hot
C. Da Afro - "I'm Gonna" - (5:32) 124 BPM
Review: A tasty pair of chunky, beefed and dubbed up disco delights courtesy of the Cardiology label and every bit as likely to get the heart rate pumping as the name would suggest. The Owl's 'Groove Engine' is the slightly slower of the pair but blessed with a thumping framework of four-to-the-floor sturdiness on which funky keys and an almost Afro vibe are tastfully and decoratively hung. 'I'm Gonna' by C Da Afro is constructed from more archetypically traditional old skool disco ingredients, from the Sister Sledge-esque female vocals to the shooting, strings. There's a nice amount of dub behaviour via the desk, enough to elevate it into orbit but not so much that the song elements of the track are obscured. Nice work all round.

Everybody Get Up
Everybody Get Up - (5:16) 123 BPM Hot
Get On The Floor - (5:43) 123 BPM
Give It To Me - (5:46) 122 BPM
Do You Got It - (5:37) 125 BPM
Review: Constant Sound offshoot Cardiology's latest boundary-blurring re-edit release comes courtesy of Alexny, an Argentinian rising star who has previously released a wealth of music on all manner of digital-only imprints. He hits the ground running with 'Everybody Get Up', sneakily adding new beats, bass and musical touches to a string-drenched old disco jam, before applying the same house-style approach to a hybrid disco/electrofunk cut on 'Get On The Floor'. 'Give It To Me' is a chunkier and more bass-heavy disco-house bumper, while 'Do It You Got It' is a rolling, filter-sporting revision of a particularly spacey, turn-of-the-80s disco workout.

Don't Give Up The Groove
Don't Give Up The Groove - (6:36) 120 BPM Hot
Wantin' U - (5:53) 121 BPM
Holding On - (6:09) 126 BPM
The Solo Groove - (5:42) 114 BPM
Review: Edit superstar C. Da Afro comes fresh off the back of a series of big outings on labels like Tropical Disco, Samosa Records, Masterworks Music, and many more. Once again this increasingly vital studio whizz comes correct with a series of playful disco house bombs. 'Don't Give Up The Groove' plays with filters, layers up the funky riffs and soars on a diva vocal. 'Wantin' U' is a classic house tune with authentic old school production chops and 'Holding On' is a super sweet outside party tune for the warmer months. 'The Solo Groove' sends you home on some feel good strings that melt any heart.

Review: Given that John Devecchis AKA The Owl decided to call his long-promised debut album Concrete Funk, you'd probably expect something heavy, grey and angular. Yet the music contained within - a mixture of loopy, gently beefed-up revisions and straight re-edits of killer funk, soul, disco and boogie jams - is anything but grey and dull. It's every bit as colourful as his previous EPs, with the many highlights including the bumpin' 'Solar Funk', the squelchy brilliance of Steve Monite re-rub 'Only You Baby', the synth-heavy, Italo-style throb-job 'The Truth', and the soaring, string-drenched disco release of 'Knuckles'. With 12 killer cuts, it's a value-for-money collection that contains more high-grade edits than you can shake a proverbial stick at.

Ele Atirou A Flecha - (6:37) 116 BPM
Paradise - (6:01) 117 BPM
Weekend Feeling - (6:27) 119 BPM
Review: In an ocean of edits, Cardiology releases always stand out for the combination of refreshing source material and producers that can balance new approaches with a respectful touch. So it goes on release number seven from Alexny, which kicks things off in fine style with the shimmying shake of "Keep Your Body Movin'". "Ele Atirou A Flecha" is the kind of vibe you want to keep in your back pocket for the jubilant last track of the night, while "Paradise" is a sweet slice of island boogie to transport you and all listeners to your chosen idyll in an instant. "Weekend Feeling" brings a little ruff n' tuff house stomp to classic disco funk, getting the groove down heavy on the one and making party magic in the process.

Review: Party days can't be that far away now, and Cardiology continue to have you covered with some of the choicest slabs in the edit game. This time it's C. Da Afro on the buttons, shining bright after a massively productive 2020 in which he slipped out no less than five releases. He's clearly not short on material to get busy on the slice and dice with, given the quality of the gear he's presenting on this new EP. As you'd expect for Cardiology the tracks aren't that easily trainspotted, ranging from the insanely catchy disco delights of 'Hustle' to the housed-up funk of 'Hold Up'. It's serious music for serious heads, but with that universal party starting appeal that any self-respecting disco edit should have.

You - (4:48) 113 BPM
Got To Dance - (5:13) 104 BPM
Fever - (4:13) 106 BPM
Review: John Devecchis has been instrumental in bringing a strong sense of personality and flair to Cardiology's explorations of the disco edit tradition, and now his The Owl alias is back for a third bout to kick off 2021 in style. 'Only You Baby' is certain to set a party off, whenever one materialises, thanks to its deadly bass hook that sounds like a thousand boogie fantasies rolled into one. 'You' takes a slinkier route, riding on a steadfast, strum-a-long groove that holds it down for the duration before 'Got To Dance' wakes you up with a huge, feel-good break and a cheeky vocal sample. 'Fever' is the pick of the bunch though, amping up the percussion until the congas sound monolithic and dropping a guitar lick you'll spot a mile off.

Fresh Groove - (4:48) 113 BPM
Review: Cardiology get serious yet again on their fourth outing with The Owl taking a break from his self-titled label to follow up "Universal Funk" with some further sizzling edits. First up is a twist on Mad Dog Fire Department's classic party starter "Cosmic Funk", which gets a tasteful house thump to amp up the dancefloor impact of the track. "Ms Brown" is a big singalong belter with a beat to match, while "We Do It" smooths things out with a slinky vibe that translates well to another forthright 4/4 bump. "Fresh Groove" finishes the EP off in a steamy, hazy groove that will take the dancers deeper in, without a doubt.

Review: The sweet and funky side of the Constant Sound empire is back for a third bout. Cardiology deals in the finest disco edits and deep house delights for soul-centric groovers, and so it continues with this sure-footed EP from The Owl. "Soul on Fire" is an appropriate title for the lead track, which keeps the vibe sizzling throughout with a strictly managed dose of Philly disco magic. "Universal Funk" takes things more upfront, but still those drops hold just enough back to keep the track utterly cool. "Funk Town" gets wild on the filter with the core sample hook before dropping some sassy bass and bongo heat at the track's apex. "Concrete Soul" completes the picture with a wistful choice in samples and the nastiest b-line on the whole EP.

Honey - (6:19) 124 BPM
Be Around - (6:27) 124 BPM
Review: Cardiology came to light earlier this year with a sure shot from Yann Polewka, and now returns with more upfront disco house delights courtesy of Julio Cruz. Title track "What Is It About U" is a heart-stirring peak time pumper that matches disco romanticism with a forthright rhythm section, while "No One" gets a little more looped up without losing that heavy dose of soul. "Honey" keeps things cyclical and strutting - a perfect edit-heavy workout for the heat of the night. "Be Around" takes things deeper, shedding the disco tones for a more techy flavour that still matches with the upfront mood on the rest of the EP.

Review: Coming from the Constant Black family but distinctly committed to the evergreen sound of disco, Cardiology is a label committed to club music with heart and soul. First up on this label is Earl, who wastes no time in setting the mood with "The Fantasy", a tastefully funked up house joint with French Touch leanings. "No You Don't" brings the disco to the fore even more, but not at the expense of hard-pumping beats and a killer diva lick or two. "No Speed Limit" is tough and pounding, which makes the sliced up samples dig in all the deeper - you could totally imagine DJ Bone juggling this one to death. "Strictly Real" takes things even further with a spaced out breakbeat speckled bumper lavished with gorgeous string shots - a curious blend that works like a dream.
