WUFO - "Echo Chamber" - (4:17) 168 BPM
Review: This latest collection of rave-ready rollers comes to us from the Celsius Recordings crew, a collective who have assembled a very tidy collection of artists across this vibrant new collection exploring six tracks of dancefloor-ready bliss. Opening up with the throwback subs sweeps and groovy percussion of Al Pack's 'Don't Cry', next to Seathasky's emotive vocal bubbler in 'Sprites' and a tidy rap-along original from SundayGrooves entitled 'Raindrops', we can see the project kick-off in real style. Next, Sykes unleashes some real dynamite across the grizzly subs of 'Desire', next to Aleyum's gnarly subby sizzler in 'Saturday Superlative', and WUFO's tidy closer with the sumptuous pad synths of 'Echo Chamber'. Some fantastic work on display here from the Celsius crew!

Gravity EP

Out Of Air - (4:36) 174 BPM Hot
Jupiter - (4:36) 174 BPM
The Path - (4:33) 174 BPM
Review: From Manchester with love! Motiv brings his unique soul flavours to Celsius just in time for the sunny season. A cosmic affair from the off, 'Gravity' tears us away from the earth's pull with its dreamy pads and rocket fuelled bass twists. It's backed up by plenty more star-gazing flavours... 'Out Of Air' takes us round the dark side of the moon by way of shimmering guitars and gentle pianos, 'Jupiter' is a minimal workout with big cosmic washes while 'The Path' lands us safely back home with its jazzy cascades and more delicate keys. Stunning stuff. Bon voyage.

Clear Sky/Kaleidoscope
Clear Sky - (5:20) 174 BPM Hot
Kaleidoscope - (5:21) 172 BPM
Review: Mage has been producing lovely liquid for quite some time now, and he's back on long-time partner Celsius Recordings for another atmospheric journey through the lighter things in life. 'Clear Sky' rests on ambient pads which slowly birth a warm piano riff, it emerges amidst a shining sun to take its place above a clean-cut drum line that cuts through the arrangement like a plane through a summer sky. 'Kaleidoscope' is a touch dancier, there's more weight in the low frequencies and another perfect piano section to top it off. Gorgeous.

Broken Mirror - (5:14) 174 BPM
Mission - (6:30) 174 BPM
Now You - (5:25) 174 BPM
Review: Broken mirrors are bad luck for some. But not London's R1C0 who's been stealthily dropping vibe science on the likes of Soul Deep, Warm Ears and Intrigue in the last 12 months. Celsius has been his most consistent home and it's here where he drops his most accomplished EP to date. Four cuts of space-gliding soul, all taking us in completely different directions, "Proximity" is all about the bubbling bassline funk, "Broken Mirror" takes us on a much creepier, mystical trip, "Mission" is a heads-down dubby cosmic roller while "Now You" brings the EP to an emotive finale with a full vocal and more deep purring bass than you could possibly eat in one sitting. Feeling lucky?

The Sines EP
The Sines - (4:58) 172 BPM Hot
For This Moment - (5:29) 172 BPM
Falling - (5:45) 174 BPM
Review: Another week, another wicked Celsius release. The Fokuz-affiliated imprint always churns out a steady stream of top-notch EPs and singles and Channell's The Sines EP is no different. Its title track is exquisite, with flowing waves of sines and luscious pads that swerve and bend their way around the arrangement with a delicate sense of fluidity. 'For This Moment' is more liquid originality, as a gorgeous sample gives its build-up oodles of soul, soul that's stretched out and used to full potential on the drop - watch out for the sneaky brass section here. The last tune 'Falling' is especially sultry, with smooth piano flicks and deftly woven melodies all over the shop. Lovely stuff.

Played by: Nelver
Review: Nelver is a name that's been floating around in liquid camps for a while now, with several releases under the broad Fokuz umbrella, as well as on other labels like SLK. This isn't his first LP and it shows, with a distinct maturity to the manner in which he constructs melodies and builds arrangements into something warm yet forceful. '2 Questions' is definitely a highlight and it's one of those tunes that masterfully combines the light and the dark, with a fluttering piano section hovering wonderfully above a pummelling, penetrating bassline. Every tune on this album has something to offer, especially for those who like the lighter side. Big stuff from Nelver.

Rene Lavice - "Just Words" - (4:35) 174 BPM
Heavy1 - "Fear The Satellites" - (5:23) 172 BPM
Review: Celsius is one of the most beloved liquid labels in the scene, a stalwart of many years which has released music from virtually every name around. Quite a few of those are represented on thus album, including Bcee & Saxxon, Blu Mar Ten and Rene LaVice, all of whom are on top form here. Bcee & Saxxon's remix of 'Always Dancing' by Random Movement is brilliant, a deftly put together jungle stepper that's full of liquid vibes and vibrant, fluttering synth lines. 'Rooftop Romance' by Flaco & Calculon is our other favourite, a soulful, rolling number that has a wicked vocal sample and beautifully punchy drums. Yes boys!

Mirage - (5:38) 174 BPM Hot
Memory Lane - (5:41) 172 BPM
Enchantment - (5:19) 172 BPM
Review: Mage is your archetypal underappreciated liquid D&B producer, in the mould of Furney, Lurch and others. His tracks always manage to emanate warmth, purpose and precision with their top-quality melodies and forward-thinking production, qualities which certainly aren't absent from his Edge of the Earth EP. Four slices of liquid ingenuity and characterised by an elegant simplicity, the title track is deceptive in that its apparent lightness is quickly contradicted by a forceful back end. 'Enchantment' is the other standout, a funky piano riff sitting beautifully over a rolling bassline and skippy drums. Lovely stuff.

The Island
The Island - (5:46) 172 BPM Hot
Signals - (5:46) 172 BPM
Review: Mage has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Celsius which stretches back to the early part of this decade - and fans of the label's soulful strain of drum'n'bass will find much to love here. "Signals" resounds to powerful filters and gushing chords unfolding over a tight backing. There's even some hints at an easy listening influence as jazzy hooks make their way up through the arrangement. On the title track, the Russian producer travels farther in this direction; ambient washes and Rhodes keys provide a wonderfully mellow intro to an uplifting arrangement that is led by an elastic bass and summery vocals.

Review: Critical Event and Radicall's ASH:RAM project reaches new heights with their debut full Celsius EP. Flexing around the most soulful pastures of the genre, it's a three-track massage of the deepest proportions. "Crushed" sizzles with a restrained dreamy texture, all filtered and hazy, "Vertigo" strips the vibe back to the bare piano and drum-fuelled funk while finally "Gently" lives up to its name with a breath-taking vocal, velvet pads and a set of precision-tune breaks running on-point underneath. Balance guaranteed.

Blow - (4:53) 174 BPM
Minimal - (4:35) 174 BPM
Review: Celsius mainstay Surreal dials in US scientist Jaybee for three pristine rollers. "Signal" shows us a signal with divine rattling breaks, a groaning bass and some ace late-entering jazzy keys. "Blow" takes us deeper into the storm with an introspective sidewinder; sashayed with an air of early Lenzman, there's an immense soul coded deep into the feels right here. "Minimal" closes the show on a high with Detroitian synth tones and a classic sense of foundation insistency. Three swings, three hits; this one strikes in all directions.

Run Through The Light EP

Run Through The Light - (5:47) 170 BPM
Played by: Sektor, MAGE
Review: Did you know that Mage has a dark side? If you didn't know, get to know, because this EP is a collection of some of the darkest material ever to have surfaced on Celsius Recordings. "The Cave" acts like its namesake to produce some pitch black cavernous sounds from deep within the cold recesses of this producer's mind. "Run Through The Light" offers some cinematic sound experimentation as dynamics shift without warning. More uplifting thanks to an addictive jazz hook, the bassline on this is not to be missed. Two very different but equally necessary tracks.

Review: The head of Intelligent Records has taken to Celsius to spread his mantra of soulful and intelligent D&B as far as he can. If you're not familiar with his tunes, this release is the perfect place to get acquainted, thanks to the even spread of smooth rollers and lively steppers encased within. More DJ Marky than Blu Mar Ten, though his style does come from the sunny side of the Atlantic, Intelligent Manners actually comes from St Petersburg. There's not much of that classic local microfunk sound in his music, but listen hard and clean-cut production takes you back to this side of the equator. Crisp, on point stuff from a man who knows his business.

Review: Three stunning artists take centre stage on this compilation EP from Celsius, one of the scene's most notorious labels for getting d&b just right. First up, LM1 packs a punch with frosty stepper "Shadows". Contrasting crystalline atmospherics with deep, squashed-in bass, he's created his own unique niche. "Rhodes licks" is the aptly named offering from Joakium, setting out all sexy and sultry wit fantastic old school vibes. Finally, Cell brings "Midnight Glow" forward and it's a mysterious little number packed with atmosphere and sharply cracking drum claps. A slick release from some names we'll be hearing a lot more of.

Review: Smote's musical is a little more interesting than most. As the frontman of a punk band in his more country of Slovakia during the '80s and '90s, he's been obsessed with electronic music ever since. A long-time friend of the Celsius team, this release brings them together again, offering up some of the finest jazz-influences rollers this side of Calibre's external hard drive. Sticking fast to his preferred suite of hard rolling percussion and beautifully arranged melodies, there's a lightness to his production that makes it easy to get lost inside each track. Equally at home on the dancefloor as the living room, this is a collection of four liquid tunes deserving of a more interesting genre description than that. Pick it up, you won't regret it.

Review: Bringing his beautiful blend of fantasy world synths and darkly deep subs to us all, Mage presents "Colors of Gray", a two-tracker full of surprises. "Toymaker" kicks off proceedings with dream sequence pads and tweaked amens, adding an addictive synth loop and big heavy bass enough to satisfy any dancefloor cravings. Following up there's "Mint Flavour", and like its name this tune comes fresh and clean, taking its overwhelming atmosphere from crisp production and strings that melt away into the ether. Stepping out with playful kicks and snares and with plenty of live horns, it's a beauty of a release. Deeply chilled.

Review: Experimental and atmospheric compositions from a Moldovan producer who's pushing the boundaries of what people consider to be drum and bass. Playing with half-time and mixing warped samples with ethereal melodies, there's a real sense of true composition in each track. From the chilled swing of "Sleepwalking"; through rolling stellar starscapes in "Contradictions"; the dark, broken vocals and weighty bass in "Nothing's Ever" and the techy beats and beautiful precision of "Wisdom Goddess", this is an LP that will open your eyes and steal you away. Isn't it nice to hear from a producer who's not content with the status quo?

Untaken EP
Seibel - "Huge" - (5:58) 174 BPM
Fishy & Seibel - "Untaken" - (5:14) 174 BPM Hot
Review: Two relatively unknown artists step out of the shadows to bring two beautiful explorations in D&B's technical underbelly to life. "Huge" is a consummate example of minimal melody taken from years of techno worship and sped up to match skitterish amens, underpinned by long drawn-out synth notes. It's simple and complex at the same time and there's more than a little influence from epic '90s game soundtracks involved. That's not a bad thing. "Untaken" packs more of a tropical feel, with a clear after-the-monsoon feel about the production and gorgeous layering between melody, reece and samples. This is a tune that would feel at home on any dancefloor and would make even the most stoic of crowd turn their downturned faces to the sky.

Remixes EP II
Black Is The Colour Of D&b - (6:32) 174 BPM
Move On Drum & Bass - (5:42) 174 BPM Hot
Played by: MAGE
Review: Here's an interesting proposition: Russian D&B producer Mage offering junglist covers/remixes of well-known hits. First up is "Black Is The Colour of D&B, a drum and bass revision of a traditional American folk song made famous by the Corrs. Surprisingly, Mage's revision works rather well, with a folksy vocal and flute touches riding a snappy rhythm and pulsating bassline. Mage cuts up the vocal impressively as the track progresses, giving his version a dreamy quality. We have to admit not knowing the source material for "Move On D&B", but it's similarly dreamy, with darting, trance style keys, EDM electronics and Mage's usual starburst breakbeats. Like the A-side, it feels like a hands-in-the-air anthem in the making.

Changing Faces - "Nothing You Can Say" - (5:34) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Stunning ethereal sounds from these world-class newcomers make for an interesting Celsius release this time around. Kicking off with "One Step", Nelver and NCamargo mix wounded, soulful sounds with wistful vocal samples to create a cinematic soundscape full of longing and sadness and hope. It's unexpected then, that after this insight into another world, Changing Faces fills side two with his own version of D&B perfection, by way of rugged hats and snares, minimal atmospheric tinkering and a lot of love for the old school. "Nothing You Can Say" is a straight-up liquid instant classic with a slight jungle twist. You've got to love that.

Individual style and influences rarely gel this well, so it's a special thing indeed when four extremely talented producers, each relatively new to the scene, each from different corners of the world can get along so harmoniously. Each track on here comes from a different part of the D&B spectrum, from liquid roller to jungle-tinged futuristic shakedown; don't be surprised to find things swinging wildly between the two and touching every variation on the way past. Variety like this is a wonderful thing.

Vortex Involute kicks things off with the stunning Nelver remix of "Closing Doors", a beautiful reinterpretation that plays out the harmonies in both contrast and togetherness, showing just how intricate the original was. Review: Beautiful atmospheric liquid from a host of Celsius favourites and newcomers who show that the genre is still taking time to innovate. From the first gorgeous notes of "Electricity", there's a sense that Element Down have enlisted the help of Laura Wadley to produce the most simultaneously relaxing and moving D&B tracks of all time. Remixed by Rune and Kaiza, it becomes even more ethereal. "Lay Down Your Soul" from Vaptor (remixed again by Rune and Kaiza) is another stunning take on the calmer side of the genre, adding a harder kick and bassline for a melancholy edge. Fullmetal, Rune and Kaiza join forces for final track "Crossroads", a gorgeous progressive roller that gets deeper and more emotive as it plays on.

Forging a path in well-presented, thoughtful and downright beautiful liquid beats, first track "Homecoming" has the driving beat and deep, penetrating bass you'd expect, but a lightness and experimentalism in the melodies you might not. A killer stepper immediately breaks out in the form of title track "Wish Killer", blending techy vibes with sci-fi horror sampling and dark, dread-filled bass. Things brighten up considerably for the flip though, and "The Tearz", contrary to its downbeat title, is a strangely chirpy number, somewhere on the melancholy side but still rolling along fresh and bright, perfect as a set closer. Review: Pow! Bcee and Bladerunner on one sweet release? This is the stuff D&B dreams are made of. The two respected players complement each other perfectly; Bcee's depths and soul coupled with Bladerunner's rolling ice and heritage heaviness is an instant win. "Moonstruck" starts all airy and wafty before a bulbous bassline bombards the blend with raw power. Review: Mysterious beat maker Carter returns with his debut release on Celsius after releasing on heroic liquid labels Good Looking and V Recordings through 2013. Picking up those bittersweet rolling vibes where he left off, each track on this hotly tipped EP is a journey through soulful D&B with a crisp, bass-driven edge. "Hard To Believe" is a case in point here, with fresh rolling percussion and a corker of a bassline. Don't expect chillout liquid - it'll make you move.

Rise On Me EP
Hold You - (4:49) 175 BPM
Rise On Me - (5:12) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Another newcomer for talent-scouting, freshness-addicted Celsius Recordings UK sees a producer from small town Russia get his well-deserved turn in the limelight. He makes the most of it too, with two stunning tunes cut straight from the heart. There's something about first track "Hold You" that sounds endlessly melancholy; despite that washed-out, summery sound there's a feeling of deep contemplation, maybe brought about by deep, reverberating bass and wistful guitars playing around live drums. "Rise On Me" picks jungle breaks as a base, playing impressionist piano around a playful bassline. A soulful liquid release with technical intelligence and a fresh outlook. More of this, please.

Deep Thoughts EP
Deep Inside - (5:18) 174 BPM Hot
Macca & Changing Faces & Identified - "Thoughts From The Past" - (6:01) 174 BPM
Played by: Zen Dub
Review: Beautiful and effervescent is how the title track of this two-track stunner rolls - and roll hard it does. Deep bass and hard-edged percussion make for a crisply produced little number, but it's that gorgeous mix of keys, vocal sampling and washed out atmospherics that gets us tingling. UK based Macca and Slovakian producer Changing Faces team up with Identified for a haunting and soulful roller, with vocals tinged with hurt and sadness to match a perfectly moody, brooding bassline. Two absolute stunners from Celsius Recordings UK - support these amazing producers, they are going places.

Please Don't Kiss Me - (4:54) 175 BPM Hot
Drive Away (VIP mix) - (6:07) 172 BPM
Played by: Rich Raw, Satin
Review: Funky basslines and top-end washes of colourful static usher in Salaryman's latest EP on Celsius recordings, an inventive beast with plenty of ways to keep you hanging on. First track "Take It Away" has an addictively fresh bassline and crisp percussion; it's played out as though with a live band this tune could sound even better. Sultry soulful "Love Machine" pushes summer vibes and "Please Don't Kiss Me" is a strangely exotic swagger through spacey synths and samples. Finally, "Drive Away VIP" takes interstellar keys and teams them with seriously vibey bass and techy atmospherics for a perfect explosive finale. Excellent stuff, don't miss out.

Flame - "Heartless" - (4:56) 172 BPM
Dolla Lova - "If You Knew" (Ben Kama remix) - (4:04)
Enigmatic Desire - "Trip To Oz" - (6:04) 170 BPM
Review: The first track on this gem of an EP is a delicious roller from Belgian beatmaker Midnight Request. Laden with vintage sampling somehow reminiscent of soulful '90s trip hop but packing an addictive dancefloor-perfect D&B groove, it really is a beautiful thing. Followed up by the equally divine, effortlessly chilled "Heartless" from Flame and the huge jazz-fuelled Ben Kama remix of Dolla Lova's "If You Knew", the whole package is rounded off by a great new tune from Enigmatic Desire - "Trip To Oz". All different shades of D&B for all folks, and one for the can't-make-up-their-mind crew.

Review: Pretty, soulful drum & bass. Who doesn't want a piece of that? Oddsoul kick off this mini EP with a Colossus remix of their beautiful track "Summer Lovin'" featuring Anastasia, and what a remix it is. None of the delicate melody is lost but still Colossus manages to weave a huge, addictive bassline through the melody. "Once Upon A Time" by newcomer Kredit is a stunning follow-up, pitting big bass wobbles amongst pretty piano and ethereal atmospherics. Rounding off the release is NotioN's "A Poet's Tale", a beauty of a track with a beat to get you moving and a sampled clarinet to tug on your heartstrings. How often does dance music do that?

Review: A perfect collection of future-bound drum & bass from one of the scene's most prolific upstarts. Based in Kazakhstan, his sound is part way between the cold, technical beats often heard from the Balkan producers and the type of warmer liquid rollers the likes of Calibre and Break have been known to make should the mood take them. Each tune has its own story, from the darker methodology of "Future Perfect" to the fresh, blissed-up sounds of glassy, picture-perfect "Love Sessions". A stunner of a collection.

Review: Some beautiful new liquid from some of Celsius Recordings' fresh new upstarts and first tune "New Beginnings" is a gorgeously rich roller. Plushly bassed with a touch of tantalisingly crisp atmospherics glimmering in the middle distance, this track shimmers. "Nothing To Prove" is equally well-produced but packs a little more bassy punch. Deeper and more melancholy, this is the one you'd close your set with. Bring the atmosphere.

When You Come Home EP
Fly With Me - (6:24) 175 BPM Hot
When You Come Home - (5:11) 175 BPM
Review: Newcomer to the scene Bert H is packing as much love and hope into his productions as humanly possible. With these latest tracks on Celsius, he's brought together his love of grotty, grooving basslines and rolling melodies that keep on moving. A taste of liquid from the techier end of the spectrum, there's a sense of space-age turbo-thrust about track one, with its rapidfire percussion and warped bassy wobble. On the other side, experimentation comes to the fore with oriental influences and tampered and tweaked vocals. It's sweet and light and very fresh, just the thing for a mid-gym power-up or brightening up the morning commute. Simply put, this is perfect headphones-on liquid and there ain't nothing wrong with that.

Missed Control EP
Love In The Space - (5:25) 178 BPM Hot
Missed Control - (5:11) 175 BPM
Review: Hazy, tape hiss-infused vintage sounds are what newcomers Light of Night do, and they do it very well indeed. Mixing liquid rollers with sweet, vintage samples and manipulated vocals, there's a lot playing about here. With big wobbling bass underpinning a rush of impressionist textures, "Love In The Space" is fresh and light, cold but inviting at the same time. Move it along to "Missed Control" and things get much more techy. A flattened kick punches through compressed snares and the ethereal melody carried by barely-there vocals weaves through the whole compact composition neatly. Intriguing and unique.

Watched The Day EP
Rainfalls - (6:46) 174 BPM Hot
Watched The Day - (6:52) 174 BPM
Review: With all the atmospheric lushness and bold trancey overtones roller number one reveals on this release, you can hear the luxury of a quality back catalogue behind it. Edinburgh's Alan Cowie aka. LM1 has been faithfully releasing D&B since his debut in 2011 on the likes of Dispatch and his own label Offworld, however he's made a strong leap into Celsius' library with this beauty of an EP. As mentioned, "Rainfall" is a gorgeous but brisk roller, but on the other side, Coie bares his teeth with "Watched The Day", with a huge bassline slammed underneath flowing ethereal samples of chants and piano loops. Interesting, unique and definitely an early 2014 must-have.

Review: Dutch dynamo Sektor continues to develop momentum with this stunning trio on Celsius. Stirring strong emotions throughout, each of these cuts have been designed with serious spine-melting, breath-taking dancefloor action in mind. "Live With You" is a heartfelt halfstepper laced with emphatic lyrical genuineness while "Back In The Days" ripples and shimmers with Good Looking style laser-reaching lushness. Finally "Harmoniks" takes the dance to a dark department with a heads-down roller that comes complete with a slick, thick, treacle-like bassline. Powerful stuff.

Review: Newcomers to Celsius NClear and Eugenics Eight are joined by Vospi for this hybrid mashup of genres masked as straight-up liquid rollers. Intriguing enough to stop you in your tracks but weighty enough to keep those vibes rolling, "LA Nights" is the perfect opener. Packing in jazz, soul and jangly guitar as well as the type of funky bassline usually reserved for a London Elektricity breakdown, it's a roller of a different breed. "So Strong, So Crazy" is bubbling over with romance. Jazzed up and ready for the floor, it's a D&B love song with all the heat of a Brazillian summer. Now, thanks to his melodic style of rolling liquid D&B, he's starting to make an impact on the wider world. Dreaming - (5:39) 172 BPM
Review: Mage seems to be putting out an endless stream of quality tunes. Not to disturb his track record, but this release was met with some pretty high expectations. There was no need to fear though, as both tracks are sparkling variation on his winning theme - crispy, rolling D&B with flickering mirages of melodic atmospherics. Taking a more experimental slant in "Dreaming", there's a hint of Alex Perez about those faint washes of synth noise before smooth, soulful guitar licks and a grooving bassline kick in with lush snatches of vocal. One for the lovers.

Review: London-based outfit Reds make the move from Med School to Celsius with the Roller Disco EP, one of the imprint's most impressive releases of recent times. "Let Me Have You" kicks things off in frenetic style, with semi-automatic snare rolls, and pulsating low end, while the title track offers something a little more starry eyed thanks to its warm piano chords. "Nobody Does It Better" meanwhile is a glorious collision of soulful vocals, horns and devastating subs, and crying rain finishes of on a more esoteric tip, with some threadbare footwork-inspired rhythms playing off against classic D&B stylings.

Review: Newcomer to the scene Marshall Watson is no regular upstart. A highly-trained sound designer by day, he makes 'computer music' for some of the world's largest corporations. By night he decided that messing around with sonic textures for his own amusement wasn't enough any more and launched his own D&B project, and gorgeous it is too. Beautifully multi-layered and using the rich vocal talents of Arae Haller, side one is brilliantly shimmering with influences from trance through to liquid. Working with Oscar Michael and Strife II on side two for an ambient, live instrument-littered sound, his work is as fresh as it is uplifting.
