Review: Cheap Thrills are back and ready to serve us a slice of vibrant music as the bring forward The Count Of Monte Cristal in collaboration with Cactus for this brand new sing along roller by the name of 'Cellphone'. The introduction sees us introducing to reggae like arrangements, before descending into the heavyweight UKG skips, topped by Cactus who supplies the vocal fire to bring the track to life. We are blessed with three high profile remixes, beginning with Tom Symonds who takes it deep with his overhaul before Tru Fonix send the track to the bass house shredder. Finally Wittyboy steps up for his rework, which completely revamps the layout of the track into a bassline smash, perfect for mashing up any dance.

Review: Renowned for sample based/disco driven anthems, Voodoo Chilli (aka Herve) returned earlier in 2017 with "My Heart" which featured vocals from the talented 19 year old Londoner Rhia. This emotive and soulful anthem now gets treated to a bunch of seriously awesome remixes by some top guns of the scene at present. Birmingham's Marc Spence (Simma Black) presents a bumpin' and grinding electro house version, London's Ryuken deliver a deep, down and dirty speed garage rendition which'll take you all the way back to '97. Finally, things stay convincingly and respectfully retro on Nixon's early '90s rave rendition, complete with breakbeats and euphoric elements.

Voodoo Chilli feat Rhia
Review: Voodoo Chilli is back to his old tricks again, and back to pester the Cheap Thrills catalogue with some proper house breaks - the sort that makes you dive right back into the best of the early 90s. "My Heart" delivers a gorgeous, rhythmic groove guided by Rhia's angelic voice, which seems to get better with each new roll of those drums. What's more, this sounds like the sort of tune that anyone could dig, from the house heads to the pop lovers. Both mixes, too. Funnily enough, there are no cheap thrills here!

Review: Feeling fine in 99! Herve et al take us back to one of speed garage's most vintage of years with four retrospective takes on big hitter duo Ryuken. Adding a little 4x4 charm and bulbous bass dynamics, these have been carved in such a way that you could work them into a house, bassline or breaks set with ease and creativity. Highlights come in the form of the spliced/diced vocal sample on "Shake Your Body" and the iconic rave vocal subversion of "I Need A Rhythm". They don't make like they used to... They make them better.

Review: Goddard might be a new name around the house circles, but this man has already got our stamp of approval all over his grooves of 4/4. "High Music" is powered by a deep, growling bassline that has more in common with dubstep or electro than traditional house music, and its slicing beats add further punch to this jittery dance floor conqueror; Cheap Thrills label-owner Herve storms through the place with his version of the tune, and we're faced with the same bassline except that here it's surrounded by a more classic house framework. "Demon" is our kinda piece, a murky and dubby house slinger packed with shady vocal samples and a dusty percussion roll. Sick.

Review: Gawp is a name you may have seen pop up on labels like Main Course, San City High and Medium Rare in recent times. Teaming up with James Whitehead, aka Gymbo, for 3 tracks of bass driven house, this is their debut EP on Cheap Thrills Records and they are stepping out in style if we do say so ourselves! First track "Subfood" is a right roller with subtle dub and hip-hop influences courtesy of the accompanying samples. "Grit Your Teeth" gets a bit more street and well.. gritty (mind the pun!), we really liked this one and it's more suited to the late night. Finally "Third Bass" goes deeper and is more stripped back than the previous offerings, allowing that bass to do more of the talking. It will also appeal to fans of Hot Creations style tech house.

Review: Ryuken bursts through our house charts with his fourth release to date, and his first for the devious Cheap Thrills. "Let's Turn It Up" is a nonsense club banger, not pretending to be leftfield, abstract or for headphone purposes...this tune has a big, bad bassline and it's built for you to DANCE to. "Come On Baby" is remixed twice: Jackin Bass takes the wobble of puristic dubstep and places it over a skippy house structure, whereas Back To 99, as the name suggests, deliveres a fine UK garage reinterpretation of the tune with that inimitable percussive swing. Yes please.

Review: Who is the mysterious producer known as 'Bloodline'? Could it be Herve himself? Maybe, but what we do know is his Tribute series is all about paying homage to 90s house, catnip for nostalgic millennials in other words. Here we get three tributes with #5 leading the charges with an orgy of sampled soul loops and slammin' speedy beats. Elsewhere #6 takes us from filtered France to the US where we get a fusion of New York diva house and Good Life keyboard riffs and #7 ends with some euphoric retro garage grooves and hands in the air synth stabs.
