Review: The CCB crew remain a leading light in French club music that's not just straight-laced Jeff Mills inspired techno. Familiar faces are here of course, and French Fries & Bambounou hook up for a beat down but rather mellow opener. Aleqs Notal keeps the dubby tip alive with a tracking "Ceos Vision" and label darling Coni delivers downtempo, lurking, "Ceremony". Less familiar names include Manare who close out the record with reduced session of drums, and the most lively track here comes from former Institubes artist Jean Nippon. There's more to be discovered here from NSDOS and Aethority too, and this record overall is on a killer minimal tip. Less is more!

Review: After debuting on ClekClekBoom with the Lazer Connect E.P. back in 2013, Kirikoo Des and Walter Mecca return to the label with a new collection of tracks that see their sound heading into more abstract territory. The tone is hushed and ethereal throughout, with an emphasis on futuristic techno sounds in a spread of different rhythmic configurations. Opening track "Christine +2" is a staggered affair that deals in scratchy impulses and displaced synths, while "Yuko" smooths things out with a more immersive concoction that plumbs the deepest depths of subterranean techno. "Dona J Haraway" ditches beats altogether for a blissful ambient excursion, which is matched with a more eerie start to the B side in the form of "Sienna". "Eliane" is perhaps the most floor-friendly of all the cuts on the record, but it's by no means a peak time burner. For a spread of thought-provoking electronics draped in serene tones and executed with patience, look no further.

Change The Past (remixes)
Change The Past (Fred P reshape) - (7:01) 123 BPM Hot
Change The Past (Chevel remix) - (6:48) 112 BPM
Played by: Resident Advisor
Review: In original form "Change The Past" was one of the more club-geared cuts on Kepler, the under-rated debut album by French Fries issued on Clek Clek Boom. It is therefore of little surprise that this is the track that both Fred P and Chevel picked out given the opportunity to remix an album cut for this new release. Up top Fred Peterkin's trademark reshape takes Valentino Canzani's original production to the sort of depths one would expect, whilst ensuring there's still enough punch with the kicks that get fired off in an unpredictable fashion. Becoming quite the en vogue remixer, Dario Tronchin impresses too, taking "Change The Past" in a more abstract and quite dreamy direction that you could forsee MIA stealing for her means.

Review: Almost two years after he first appeared on Clek Clek Boom with Put It In The Trunk, the DJ, producer, all-round music connoisseur and entertainer known as Jean Nipon returns with some new material for the Paris label. There's always an element of excitement with a Nipon record as you rarely deal with anything straightforward or functional, and that's certainly the case with the four tracks on Nice Seeing You. Lead track "Eerie II" has a similar sort of spectral ambience underpinned by subtle kinetic rhythm to Demdike Stare's "Repository Of Light" whilst "Daydream Nation" has the kind of lo-fi crunch you'd expect on a Terekke cut. The tone gets more urgent on the "Up North", but Nipon still retains that fossilised feel which will appeal to many selectors out there right now.

Review: Last year saw French label ClekClekBoom cement its burgeoning reputation with a compilation showcasing the local talent it had been championing since starting up in 2011, including such luminaries in wild-card bass music as French Fries and The Town. There has been a swarm of left-leaning club bangers issued out since the first volume of Paris Club Music, and so it doesn't feel rushed to be welcoming the second volume with a stack of choice cuts from the past twelve months. There's a strong unified vibe to ClekClekBoom, from the tight but slippery electro of Manare to the off-kilter techno of NSDOS, while 50Weapons staple Bambounou sounds right at home with his primal and utterly head-spinning "Idem".

Review: On Paris Club Music Vol 1, French label ClekClekBoom offer their first compilation, providing us with a wide-eyed snapshot of the current Parisian underground. There are hints of familiar French staples - the stomping Ed Banger-ish ravery of The Town's "Dice", the classic house flex of Coni's "Missing You Nire" - but for the most part Paris Club Music Volume 1 dances to a different beat. With label regulars French Fries coming to the fore, much of the album is devoted to the sort of hard-to-pigeonhole bass music that takes its influence as much from B-more, R&B and UK garage as filter funk and electro-house.

Review: The first artist album on the Parisian label ClekClekBoom fittingly comes from French Fries. After debuting on the 'French' electro label YounGunZ Entertainment (alongside Bambounou) in 2010, Valentino Canzani Mora has remained central to ClekClekBoom since he co-founded the label back in 2011. The Kepler LP comes after a string of bass-heavy tracks and bootlegs, but there's no denying this LP is the South American-born artist's piece de resistance. At 13 tracks long, the album explores hissing cosmic ambience, experimental drum tracks, industrial bass-techno, broken beat rhythms, and some dubbier excursions on a classical tip. Special mention going to the album's club-geared highlights "Bug Noticed" and "Change The Past". Highly recommended.

Review: French imprint ClekClekBoom sew up a killer year with their final transmission of 2012, from French producer Jean Nipon. A producer already well versed in ghetto house styles with his early material for Institubes, the title track sees him engage in the same kind of vocal cut ups as fellow countryman French Fries, combining it with threadbare 808 rhythms and thundering bass weight, whilst "Black Things On Desk" and "35 Thieves" see him experimenting with the same contemporary dub techno styles as Bambounou's recent missives for 50 Weapons, delivering a clutch of deep bass-techno tools primed for the floor.

Down To Dis - (7:07) 126 BPM Hot
Review: French imprint ClekClekBoom are really gathering steam this year, and follow up a blinding release from Bambounou with two stripped back rollers from Manare. "Quartz" is the perfect collision between UKF and the French take on African rhythms, with 808s that smack hard and bass frequencies begging to be played on a huge system. "Down To Dis" is similarly robust but is characterized by wonky melodies playing off against an insistent vocal sample - big tip on this one.

Brawl - (5:45) 85 BPM

Review: Making the leap to ClekClekBoom Recordings after emerging through Sound Pellegrino, Bambounou is fast making a name for himself with a raw take on garage dynamics that pares the two-step down to bare elements that smack hard, especially on the huge, string-drenched pressure of "Night". "Brawl" meanwhile gets a touch more hectic in the jagged groove and manic vocal chops, although the subtle synth touches cool off the oddball madness just enough. For all the primal production values, Bambounou clearly knows how to execute ideas with a maturity that belies his experience to date.

Review: ClekClekBoom once again prove themselves to be one of France's most reliable bass labels with the latest release from New Zealand duo Chaos In The CBD. Already affiliated to the Gallic branch of the genre thanks to a release on Youngunz, the duo's heavy, swung sound is right at home on the imprint - "Rolling 84's" combines the electro acid styles of Boddika with some druggy atmospherics and crisp snares, "Slab" combines some demented ghetto vocals with a heavy house vibe, while "Trunk Music" goes in with some restless syncopation and UKF inspired melodies, coming across like Bambounou jamming with Claude VonStroke. Big tip!

The Movement (bonus beat) - (3:17) 87 BPM Hot
Review: Paris-based label ClekClekBoom present this unholy union of Bmore monster Kazey and DMC-veteran Karve, who as The Town have been dropping some white hot edits of hip-hop champs like Rick Ross and Gucci Mane of late. This new release sees the pair on a tropical tip, as "The Movement" works a tight, Crazy Cousins/Funkystepz groove while "Pulse" adds a dark techno texture to some equally Funky rhythms. DJs should also get involved with the bonus beat of "The Movement", which is frankly hype enough to play out on its own.

Just To Please Ya (feat Romy) - (4:26) 55 BPM
Calling Me (feat Sana - radio edit) - (3:42) 128 BPM
Review: Based in France, ClekClekBoom is showing that the nascent sounds of UK focused bass music are starting to seriously take root across the Channel. Minstre X is the pseudonym of label head Jonathan Chaoul, and on the strength of these tracks he's been honing his production skills for some time. With an R&B referencing style that brings to mind Jacques Greene and James Blake, "Calling Me" nevertheless has a distinctly Gallic charm to it, as neon synths are replaced with aged accordion-like tones and robotic drum machines replaced with organic clatter. "Just To Please Ya" is an even more understated production whose sawtooth bass and synth drips never dominate. But in both tracks it's the live vocals that add a touch of class to proceedings - no Ciara sample robbery here.

Review: Fresh from serving up their first artist album in the shape of Keplar by French Fries, Parisian club imprint ClekClekBoom return to the more familiar 12" format with some new Coni produce. Presumably called the Comfort Zone EP because Coni wishes to lift you out of it, the four tracks here show a further evolution in his raw brand of hybrid dance. Lead cut "The Opposite" demonstrates a nice interplay between the delicate synth pads and dusty, tumbling toms and makes for a simple yet very effective DJ tool. "Napalm" is apparently Coni's homage to Dance Mania which is quite self-evident when you hear the sound clip play, whilst B Side opener "Bunker's Groove" offers a hint at the producer's darker side, a chasm deep exercise in warehouse techno Paris style. "Exit to the Comfort Zone" offers a more introspective finale, though many will find it perfect as a mixtape opener!

Feel Like Home - (5:33) 127 BPM
Review: Cult Parisian 'ghetto club' label ClekClekBoom released Coni's debut EP, Luz In the Pool, back in 2011 to great acclaim. Now he's back with follow up, and he's left the peak time bangers alone. Instead he opts for depth and atmosphere across the three tracks: "My Secret Diving" is lean and fuzzy with muffled beats and vocals, "Flip" is more Chicago in spirit, but still hazy and understated, and finally "Feel Like Home" features a pumping kick swathed in gloriously woozy sonics. A more mature release, but never any less fun than before.

Tropical Data - (5:54) 136 BPM
Lazer Connect - (4:37) 136 BPM
Review: With little known about them prior to this release, ClekClekBoom unveil their latest signings with this hooky EP of primal rhythms and direct arrangements. "Tropical Data" is an apt title as the rigid, functional drum machine patterns intertwine with precisely programmed melodic hits of an exotic origin in an urgent 4/4 march. "Meridien S-Dos" is slightly less hectic, letting synths take over from the drums as the main source of energy with decidedly techno-esque results. "Lazer Connect" presents the most intricate and complex of the tracks on the EP, moving in a fractured kind of electro realm that hides the groove remarkably well.

White Screen - (6:35) 63 BPM
D'Angelo - (6:39) 60 BPM
Review: Although ClekClekBoom's first label compilation is imminent, the Parisian imprint has still found time to put out this fine EP from label mainstay French Fries, with three tracks of the kind of dark, rhythmic heads-down club gear the imprint have become increasingly good at unearthing. It's an EP of contrasting dark and light elements; "Everything" is an atmospheric piece of precision bass techno, with forceful kicks interspersed with laser-cut synths, while "White Screen" is a more rolling number whose fierce toms are joined by cascading sheets of neon. "D'Angelo" on the other hand is a stylistic about turn, dropping the tempo for a murky, late-night house track filled will shimmering dub chords and a particularly funky bassline.

Review: A Killer French Fries platter from the ClekClekBoom crew here, laying down a taste of what we can expect from the Parisian's debut album, due out early next year. Both cuts here are prime club tools for the DJs out there, pure and simple! Lead track "Machine" crams all manner of sonic influences into a hefty 130+bpm flex, operating at a techno tempo but not moving forth like traditional tempo. Insteas all manner of rugged ghetto drum sounds cascade against the channels in a manner that hints at French Fries' previous dalliances with the UK Funky template. Flip it over and "Bug Noticed" is a more restrained production, with a palpable sense of menace present in the form of hissing textures and thick, throbbing bass kicks.

Review: Following this year's EPs by Coni, French Fries and the Paris Club Music Volume 1 compilation, ClekClekBoom debuts a new collaboration by label head Ministre X and Mattias Mimoun. Entitled Aethority, the duo's first release draws upon bass, garage and techno inspirations with a trimming of acid. "Niceness" sways in syncopated motion as synths are slightly stretched and pulled by a soft sidechain, while "Get Busy" is minimal and sparse in arrangement, its keys, chords and percussive stabs fill the empty voids, resulting in a very musical piece.
