Review: Unrivalled District is the debut release from Gonzo, and it's a riotous affair. Drawing on techno and rave influences, this EP is shot through with an energetic sensibility. On "Dread", Gonzo fuses dramatic rave stabs and a filtered vocal with robust break beats. "Geezers Need Excitement" is based on a similar approach - hardcore pianos swirl and sweep over the arrangement, supported on this occasion by tribal beats and percussive layers. "Razor Edge" provides a more dramatic take on this sound, as hardcore stabs are set to insistent break beats and the listener is urged to 'get down with this f**king sound'. The Duty Paid remix of "Edge" delivers an even more frenetic version.
