Review: Fresh from dropping a humid EP of sticky and seductive, global-fusion house treats, sometime Close Knit and Crosstown Rebels contributor Cipy transfers to Connected. The Bird In Hand EP is similarly quirky, inventive and quietly melodious, with the Barcelona-based Italian flitting between shuffling, slow-burn dancefloor release (the elongated guitar solos, foreboding electronic melodies and snare-heavy beats of 'Bird in Hand'); lolloping, tech-tinged early morning beauty ('Coupon'); bouncy and exotic Middle Eastern house workouts (undoubted EP highlight 'Aman'); and the deep synth-pop-goes-deep-tech excellence of 'Utopia', featuring guest vocals from KnowKontrol. In other words, it's another typically inventive but club-ready collection of cuts from Cipy.
Review: After some brilliant material by the likes of Re.You, Greece's DJ Angelo and DJ Qness & Lazarusman, the ever reliable Connected (run by legends Stereo MCs) returns with this impressive four tracker by Berlin's Christoph Deckert. With past appearances for the likes of MoBlack, Chapter 24 and Scatcity, Deckert is a perfect fit here and delivers the goods in style on the riveting "1-1", an arcane and tribalistic ritual for the rainforest. Particularly impressive on here is Frenchman Parsifal (Kinesen) and his contribution, whose majestically moody reinterpretation will take you deep into the aether in the vein of Life & Death/Afterlife material.
Review: DJ Angelo and his well-established promotions brand/team Global Fantas have been featuring top notch DJ talent exclusively in Greece for multiple years, where he has hosted some of the biggest names in the house music scene. With releases on respected house music imprints such as Tribe Records, Nulu and King Street, the ascendant Greek producer returns to Stereo MCs' Connected with some sublime Afro house on the Babel EP. From the spiritual, acid inflected euphoria of the title track, to the more dancefloor ready melodic deep house of "Radar" which will appeal to all the Innervisions and Compost Black Label fans out there - there's all you need right here!
