Planetarium EP
Planetarium - (6:16) 119 BPM
Assuage - (7:21) 123 BPM
Sleepwalking In Silom - (6:20) 104 BPM Hot
Review: Three tracks here that lean heavily to the more electronic side of modern disco, as opposed to the more organic/funky/70s-sounding variety that's this reviewer's usual favourite flava - so some serious props need to go to Rocco Universal, because the 'Planetarium' EP is a killer. The lead track has been well chosen: a druggy, hypnotic throbber, it's got repressed energy to spare and just seems to build forever. But the other two are no slouches either, with 'Assuage' rocking a mellower, prog-leaning vibe while 'Sleepwalking In Silom' will leave you with one in the chamber for the afters.

Review: Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Cosmic Tiger began life as a magazine covering the dance music scene in Southeast Asia back in 2019, but now they've branched out and launched their own record label. Following a single release from label boss Patrizio Cavaliere (AKA Rocco Universal), this is their first V/A compilation and if your tastes tend to the dreamier, more Balearic end of the disco spectrum you'll find much to enjoy here, with highlights for this writer including the Dave Lee-esque space funk of Scott Hess's 'Elevator' and the squelch bass-tastic 'Royal Flush' from Rudy's Midnight Machine.

Fleeting Eternity / October
Fleeting Eternity - (6:15) 115 BPM Hot
October - (7:09) 121 BPM
Review: If you like your disco on the synth-y side you won't wanna miss this latest offering from UK-raised Italian Patrizio Cavaliere, better known as Rocco Universal. Coming on Thailand's Cosmic Tiger label, 'Fleeting Eternity' is a bit too angular to be called Balearic and a touch too smooth to be filed under Italo, but you get the general idea! The accompanying 'October', meanwhile, operates at a slightly lower tempo and stirs a little deep house flava into an otherwise stylistically similar pot. Both conjure images of sophisticated floors swaying gently through a shimmering heat haze, which of course is exactly where they're aimed.
